@@AldoJamesFor what I need (software development and basic tasks) it’s perfect! It’s criminal that Apple think it’s acceptable to ship a “Pro” machine with 8GB RAM (the new 14” MBP Pro with M3)! Worst still, they charge a fortune to upgrade the RAM/SSD!
@@andreipelin9781 When I got mine in July it showed Battery Condition "Normal" and Maximum Capacity was 89%. It's still showing the same today. I have Optimized Bater Charging enabled.
I bought the exact same MacBook, 14 inch refurbish M1, pro chip, 16 Gb ram 512 SSD at Amazon for $1400 that price also includes insurance if any damage comes to it. When I got it, there was absolutely no damage to it. It was near perfect condition. I love my MacBook Pro and I also bought a sand disc extreme external hard drive, one terabyte to add even more extra storage to my MacBook Pro
With the same price, would you prefer the M1 Pro or the M3? Both have 16GB of RAM and 512GB of SSD storage. The M3 is brand new and comes with a 1-year apple warranty, while the M1 Pro is a refurbished model
I would suggest changing your title to “M1 Pro MBP” and not M1 because there is a 13” M1 MBP and you purchased the 14” M1 Pro MBP. I have the 14” M1 Pro base model and that’s my daily driver for now to see how well it handles Logic Pro X and FCP X. I do more work in Logic Pro than anything, and it seems to be handling things well. With only 16GB of RAM I do pay a little more attention to unnecessary windows and apps opened to minimize swap memory usage and keep the memory pressure low. M1 Pro is a great buy because with M2 and M3 Pro, Apple slowly began transition those 6-8 performance cores to efficiency cores and well, that does effect performance. Some people think it’s to create a bigger gap between the Pro and Max chips. The Max chip was pretty much the unbinned Pro chip with more GPU cores. But now with M3, there’s a major CPU core difference for you want to upgrade to the Max Chip.
What do you mean, my title always said M1 Pro ;) haha thanks for the recommendation I changed it. They have definitely tried to make a bigger gap between their Pro and Max lines with the M3 which I think makes the M1 and M2 performance models even better value when compared to the M3 pro/max
The M1 MacBook Pros 14 Inch in the refurbished store sell very quickly in Australia. In the end I picked up the M2 MacBook Air in Space Grey, looked brand new, battery had 3 cycles. Saved $300 on new.
Yea I missed out the first time I saw it on the refurb site so when this one popped up I had to order it. I think it was all sold out within 3 days. Did you get a 13 or 15"?
Great video. I totally agree M1 Pro is still very mighty in 2023 and years forward. And considering the huge difference in cost between M1 Pro and M3 Pro in Australia, M1 Pro is no brainer. However, many users are in different situations from the UA-camrs like MKBHD. MKBHD can upgrade at any time he wants, but common users like me, probably you as well, since we are sensitive to the cost very much, could not just do whatever they do.
For sure I think a lot of us are much more money conscious than MKBHD but I think that’s also great to see even someone like him who can upgrade whenever he wants didn’t even feel the need to
I was in the market for a M1/M2 for quite a while, but never found anything close to a decent deal here in Germany. Eventually I was lucky enough to stumble upon a black friday deal for a M3 Max for a little over 20% off, so I couldn't justify buying anything else. I'm still looking around to see if I should cancel and buy an M1/M2 instead, but basically for the same price I'm only finding similar or worse specs with an older chip. I'm just praying to god that the thermal design will be good enough for intense Logic Pro use, been struggling with my intel macbook pro for the longest time
20% off a new M3 model is awesome! We rarely get discounts on the new devices here in Australia and if we do it's usually 10% so that seems like a great deal! I think you'll be really happy with your choice. I'd be keen to hear how it handles your workloads
You can get a display hub to do that if you need the 2nd external display. If need extra ports. Just get a hub will do. But M3 is using 3nm chip. Ray tracing. 600nits brightness.
Depends how tight your budget is and what else you need. For $150 more, which is about $300AUD, the M3 is also a really good option. If your budget is fixed at $1750, I would go for the M1 and use the remaining $$ to buy some accessories like the Logitech MX Master 3 Mouse, external keyboard, or software if you need it etc. Look into everything you want with your mac and budget it out otherwise you'll end up spending more than you realize to complete your setup. Hope this helps!
I think you are making a mistake. It’s false value to have saving of few hundred pounds and have a machine that’s going to run out of support sooner. I went for m3pro model 18 gb ram. Yes it’s expensive but then it’s also more future proof. Buying m1 these days is false economy. When buying Apple machine think about the investment in future and not about “saving”. If you are looking at it with a view of “saving” you are looking at it the wrong way. (My personal view off course)
I doubt M1 will ever lose support - actually being serious - Apple's inhouse chip - and they iterating on top of it with M2/m3 - just making it smaller but same concept (ARM) It will only lose support if they move away from ARM to some other paradigm of chip manufacturing. My 2 cents. Slightly agree with Future Proof Theory - but if people dont do heavy tasks now - humans don't really change - so.... if performance good enough now for whatever someone needs it for - marginal 10-30% gains going to M3 can be considered a decent save in money if the person utilizes that other money correctly - lets say ...................idk w/e can make them more ROI ahha
Thanks for you comment and your thoughts! I understand where you're coming from in regard to support and longevity and I weighed this into the equation when I was buying it. For me to pay the extra $700 - $1000 (for M3 or M3 Pro) with the same amount of RAM, it made more sense for me to get the M1 as Apple ahs typically supported their laptops for around 5 - 6 years and even then they offer security updates for a few years after. The M3 isn't a bad choice but I feel at the price point the M1 Pro made more sense for me. hope this makes sense?
Thank you, for this excellent video of why you ordered a 14-inch M-1 MacBook instead of the newest 14-inch M-3 MacBook model. Wow, I did not know the value difference between the US dollar and the Australian dollar was so large. I agree with you 100 percent for ordering off of Apple's Certified Refurbished web site this is always, my first stop when shopping for prior year Apple desktop and laptop computers. However, when buying new from Apple, I use their web site for Veteran's which, gives me a 10 percent discount (smile...smile).
The exhange rate is sooooo bad 😂 Whenever I watch the release promos and they say starting from $799 it seems so cheap haha That's really cool you can get a 10% discount even when buying new!!
Good on ya, mate! This is how most conscientious people shop Apple nowadays. TechTube has really helped in this consciousness-raising effort. You're gonna love your M1 Pro! I love my 16" equivalent, which I've had for two years now, never even thinking of upgrading. They're too good!
I would love to buy older versions of pro model but all m1 pro and m2 pro versions refurbished starts from nearly 2000$ my budget is 1600 $ even base model of pro chip is good enough for me , it would be great help if anyone could find a trusted site which has the offers for 1600
Let me know if you think I made the right decision buying the M1 Pro in 2023!
I also bought MacBook Air M1. Works fine and wasn't too expensive.
I bought the M1 Pro as well because the price and performance. Its the best for me with this price
That's awesome! The M1 Pro is definitely a great choice when it comes to price and performance. Enjoy your new device!
I did the exact same thing, bought a brand new MacBook Pro 14” M1 Pro - 10 Core CPU - 16 Core GPU - 16GB RAM - 1TB SSD for £1399 Costco UK
How good! What do you think about it?

Who needs the latest and greatest when you already have a powerhouse in your hands? The M1 Pro MBP 14 is like so good
How about battery, my battery health dropped hella quick

I bought my M1 Max September 2022 and I can't believe that there is already an M3 series over a year later.
I know, it's unlike Apple to release two of the same product in one calendar year! But don't feel like you've missed out, the M2 is still awesome

M1 Pro support 2 external display and M3 only support 1. M1 Pro has 3 thunderbolt4 ports and M3 has 2 thunderbolt3.
