But some people get ingrown & literally have to keep that cut all the way down to the base. I do not have that problem but without polish my toenails to look long. That's because I have a long nail bed. Same with my fingernails. Nails may not be very long just to meet the edge of my toes. The finished product of this did not look like extra-long nails at all
I believe that you're not supposed to put extensions on your toe nails, because (as someone already wrote in the comments) your toe nails can come off your nail bed because of shoes that cause pressure on them. It's not recommended to put big amount of gel/base or other materials on your nails as it causes pressure and may lead to ingrown nails which cause a lot of pain. Take care! 💅🏻
This happened to me recently! I never put tips, but I had this gel base stuff that I used on my nails to make them hard since my nails are thin and flimsy but grow fast. Figured I would just do a coat on my toes to make them more firm as well. Next thing I know, I have a terrible ingrown nail...ugh! Just pressing on my big toe had pus coming out it grossed me out completely and thought i would have to go to the doctor over it but after cleaning it, it got better within the next few days. Never happened before so I figured that was the case. Never doing that again. 😅

I know that in some salons people use just the "5 in one" or "one step" gel polish (for the toenails), so you put only one coat without the base and top coat. And that also helps not putting as much layers and as a result not causing pressure on the nails
Licensed nail tech here! They look beautiful but please be careful when wearing extensions on your toes as it can cause the natural nail to come away from the nail bed due to trauma from wearing closed-toe shoes! I do this sometimes but only in the summer when I know I’ll mostly be wearing sandals 🫶🏼
And you gotta be just as careful with open-toed shoes! Years ago, I put press on nails on my big toes that matched my nails tryna be cute bc I was moving off to school as a college freshman. I ended up in a crowd, and someone in that crowd kicked me right in the toenail 😅 messed up my natural nail pretty bad, but it healed up without me losing the whole nail, thankfully!

she is not just painting her toenails. She is putting fake nails on top. When she showers or sweats the moisture will give her a fungus. These fake nails are for people with deformed, rotting and cracked nails. She could just paint her toenails for the same exact effect

You could just polish the toenails and use regular nail glue to adhere them. It’s basically the same thing as wearing press ons. I've been doing my own toenails this way since I was 14 and I'm 33. They literally last me a month at a time and if they pop off before then I just do a fresh set. No need to cure the gel on your toes and you can get some fabulous designs without having to be crouched over for 45-50 minutes!

I guess it can be because in the Caribbean people is more used to wear sandals/go barefoot, so they have more freedom. In other places where you actually have to mostly wear closed up shoes, acrylics can be a nightmare

I used to do my toes similar to this. What helped me the most was painting the extensions before applying them (I would let them dry over night just to make sure they don't smudge)
honestly, I think its best to apply builder gels instead of extensions/tips. Its safer and if you really want to grow out your toenails its helps with strengthening the nails.
pt: if you have full coverage nail tips that have big sizes, they can be used as dual forms for your toes. 4 out of my 5 different tip sets their number 1 and 2 fit both of my big toes and at least two of the pinky sizes cover all the rest of my toes. as she said, it's best to perfect the shape, so spend time on that. imo, square or coffin are the best for fit and structure because they have a great shape at the middle where you'd cut your toe length as.
I worked in a fancy retail situation for years and had very cute heels that had a slight open toe and would do my own fake toenails. It's a game changer. I have large finger nail beds, not so much on the toes. It just makes everything look more better.

Back in th early 00s, one of my gfs used to get fake toe nails. She was dating a super clumsy guy who stepped on her toes and it pulled off her ENTIRE TOE NAIL.
the layer of dead skin you’re removing is called the proximal nail fold, it’s a layer of dead skin that rest on your nail, the cuticle is a thin layer of skin that is connected to the nail. the difference in these are drastic but are very easy to confuse for newer and aspiring nail tech or artists. please be careful and teach yourself the proper terminology as it can help your learning process and make doing nail safely a lot easier and more comfortably! besides that this is great work and you’ve done them very beautifully and i can tell you take the time to care for your skin rather than damage it to make it look like a photo! keep up the great work and good luck on your nail journey!
My daughter did this technique but when she took them off she ruined her toe nails and her finger nails,, she didn’t have a thumb nail for some time. Since then all of her toenails and fingernails have grown back and I’m so glad there wasn’t any permanent damage. Just be careful everyone. I like enhancements but I prefer to care for the natural nail

Damage by stubbing , slamming or infection in the matrix will result in permanent damage to the nail. The nails are simply layers of keratin but attach to a blood and nerve rich nail bed. The matrix, or mother of the nail is where the root is located and that provides circulation and adherence of your nails💕 Hands or feet same story. Be wary of cutting cuticles or wearing any extension w polish where you do not see if fungi is developing . Nails should be naturally shiny and extend over into a free edge of some length. ABSOLUTELY! I wear Press on Toenails so minus the painting! // I read some of the other comments, I get not having longer toe nails because of them possibly touching at the top of your shoe. But for me if my toenail is cut down too low and is now rounded. That drives me nuts. I need a clean, square, straight line across, it looks so much better, I hope that made sense lol
I personally wouldn’t do this on my toes, I have a very similar nail shape to you and I just file them all straight across into squares, I notice with my toenails that there isn’t a lot of room for my nail beds to attach onto and I feel one wrong move could result in a huge bloody mess! Please be careful 💕
I did that too. I thought how amazing they looked then realized why it’s not a good idea. When they lift, you can’t tell, then the water gets trapped underneath. Then you get a mold. You tend to leave them on your toes longer than hands, not able to check regularly enough because it’s not as easy to reach. They did look beautiful but no bueno for me. I got the mold and had to grow it out. Be careful if you do decide to do it.
Be careful- gel and at home gel is riskier, can cause a terrible allergy… If you develop the allergy, it would give you trouble with all kinds of things in the future with regards to any kind of surgery or dental procedures….
@@rrodriguez4747 You can if you don't apply it well. With gel you have to avoid getting it on your skin and immediately wipe it off before curing. Getting it on your skin and leaving it there could lead to allergies

My nail tech used to put a tip and acrylic on my ingrown toenail and it would feel better because it would lift the sides of the ingrown nail away from the flesh I would always look forward to seeing her every 2 weeks when I would get a fill she would put a new tip and acrylic on my toenail. It always felt so much before she started doing it my toenail would hurt like hell if the bedsheets would touch it
As a trained pro , its better not to . Because our feet sweat more , and tend to have more skin build up than our hands , a lot of people are prone to nail issues after long term extentions on the toes . Its fine for short term to fix a broken nail or for events , but tbh just grow yours out a little if you want longer toe nails lol
Been doing this for year's. For those in the comment section who's saying salons don't do this. Yes they do. But you have to be careful not to keep them on long and also be aware of fungus and water as well as bumping your big toe. It can lift up your toenail if your not careful especially wearing she's other than sandals.

Nail salons don’t do this because tips on toes is not recommended unless you want ingrown toenails& injuries. Overlays are fine, just do an acrylic or polygel or even soft gel overlay.

Coming from a nail tech. Nobody does it because it’s almost pointless plus nobody wanna use their NAIL products on ppls toes. Not all the tIme but a lot of pedi clients have nasty feet that they don’t take care of. I had to use my nail drill on a client who had a couple year old gel extension on her toe because it was ripped off and won’t grow back. It was one of the most disgusting nasty things I’ve ever done in my life.

Nail salons in my state are not allowed to do this on toes because once you put closed-toed shoes on there is a HIGH chance you can lose an entire nail because of the frication. Doesn’t seem worth it when you could just grow your own toe nails out to the same short length.
I was influenced. I did this with pre made french tips on nails. Then i used a neutral pink builder gel behind it and it looks amazing. Im never going back to anything else again.
I don't see why y'all are complaining about people having long toe nails saying you couldn't do it, her finished result even after putting the fake toe nails on is the same length I always cut my natural toes down to and they never touch the inside of my shoes or bother me. She chose a very normal length. Actually keeping them a little longer helps feminize your feet and when you cut them too short your toes end up looking like a man thumb or something. Very unattractive.

Never had an issue using normal 3 step gels on my toes but extensions would be a big no no.
Happened to me also made my nail fungi never putting fake nails on my toe again! Especially acrylic girls be careful

Just be careful. Water can cause bacteria growth under nails & toe nail extensions... you have very nice toe nails already.

Why do you prefer acrylic on your toes may I ask? How often do you get them done, change the tips or acyclic out?
I would get one acrylic on my big toe, and the rest of my toes gel. If I got them done. But I definitely would do this press on set at home.

as she said, it's best to perfect the shape, so spend time on that. imo, square or coffin are the best for fit and structure because they have a great shape at the middle where you'd cut your toe length as.

I worked in a fancy retail situation for years and had very cute heels that had a slight open toe and would do my own fake toenails. It's a game changer. I have large finger nail beds, not so much on the toes. It just makes everything look more better.

the layer of dead skin you’re removing is called the proximal nail fold, it’s a layer of dead skin that rest on your nail, the cuticle is a thin layer of skin that is connected to the nail. the difference in these are drastic but are very easy to confuse for newer and aspiring nail tech or artists. please be careful and teach yourself the proper terminology as it can help your learning process and make doing nail safely a lot easier and more comfortably! besides that this is great work and you’ve done them very beautifully and i can tell you take the time to care for your skin rather than damage it to make it look like a photo! keep up the great work and good luck on your nail journey!
My daughter did this technique but when she took them off she ruined her toe nails and her finger nails,, she didn’t have a thumb nail for some time. Since then all of her toenails and fingernails have grown back and I’m so glad there wasn’t any permanent damage. Just be careful everyone. I like enhancements but I prefer to care for the natural nail

Generally moisturizer on nails like aqua oh or balm will keep them soft
Gently buff ridges in a circular motion
Then use the silicone side of buffer to bring back natural shine in healthy nails
You may push back, gently after soaking any overlapping cuticle or ptregium that’s attached
Clean all around nails w rubbing alcohol and then gently cleanse and let dry naturally prior to polish

ABSOLUTELY! I wear Press on Toenails so minus the painting! // I read some of the other comments, I get not having longer toe nails because of them possibly touching at the top of your shoe. But for me if my toenail is cut down too low and is now rounded. That drives me nuts. I need a clean, square, straight line across, it looks so much better, I hope that made sense lol
I personally wouldn’t do this on my toes, I have a very similar nail shape to you and I just file them all straight across into squares, I notice with my toenails that there isn’t a lot of room for my nail beds to attach onto and I feel one wrong move could result in a huge bloody mess! Please be careful 💕
I did that too. I thought how amazing they looked then realized why it’s not a good idea. When they lift, you can’t tell, then the water gets trapped underneath. Then you get a mold. You tend to leave them on your toes longer than hands, not able to check regularly enough because it’s not as easy to reach. They did look beautiful but no bueno for me. I got the mold and had to grow it out. Be careful if you do decide to do it.

My nail tech used to put a tip and acrylic on my ingrown toenail and it would feel better because it would lift the sides of the ingrown nail away from the flesh I would always look forward to seeing her every 2 weeks when I would get a fill she would put a new tip and acrylic on my toenail. It always felt so much before she started doing it my toenail would hurt like hell if the bedsheets would touch it
As a trained pro , its better not to . Because our feet sweat more , and tend to have more skin build up than our hands , a lot of people are prone to nail issues after long term extentions on the toes . Its fine for short term to fix a broken nail or for events , but tbh just grow yours out a little if you want longer toe nails lol

Been doing this for year's. For those in the comment section who's saying salons don't do this. Yes they do. But you have to be careful not to keep them on long and also be aware of fungus and water as well as bumping your big toe. It can lift up your toenail if your not careful especially wearing she's other than sandals.

Nail salons don’t do this because tips on toes is not recommended unless you want ingrown toenails& injuries. Overlays are fine, just do an acrylic or polygel or even soft gel overlay.

Coming from a nail tech. Nobody does it because it’s almost pointless plus nobody wanna use their NAIL products on ppls toes. Not all the tIme but a lot of pedi clients have nasty feet that they don’t take care of. I had to use my nail drill on a client who had a couple year old gel extension on her toe because it was ripped off and won’t grow back. It was one of the most disgusting nasty things I’ve ever done in my life.

Nail salons in my state are not allowed to do this on toes because once you put closed-toed shoes on there is a HIGH chance you can lose an entire nail because of the frication. Doesn’t seem worth it when you could just grow your own toe nails out to the same short length.

I was influenced. I did this with pre made french tips on nails. Then i used a neutral pink builder gel behind it and it looks amazing. Im never going back to anything else again.

I don't see why y'all are complaining about people having long toe nails saying you couldn't do it, her finished result even after putting the fake toe nails on is the same length I always cut my natural toes down to and they never touch the inside of my shoes or bother me. She chose a very normal length. Actually keeping them a little longer helps feminize your feet and when you cut them too short your toes end up looking like a man thumb or something. Very unattractive.

So I am rough....I mean rough on my feet during the warm months. I kept busting my big toes so now I have my big toes acrylic powder covered with gel painted over all of my toes. Has been GREAT!
