Yeah i forgot this song even existed since 2016 but i found a printed lyrics of it in an old notebook and realized how deep this is now that I'm older.
Apologize was my introduction to OneRepublic, as I’m sure it was for most people, but Stop And Stare is what sold me on them. Amazing message. This band is frustratingly underrated still today
Even relevant still I don’t think many appreciate they are one of the bunch that’s still pretty enjoyable and have quality to them. Imagine dragons sucks ass along with Current Maroon 5
My wife passed away this year on April 14th I barley listen to music anymore but OneRepublic was on and right now document your laundry cleaning cleaning house blasting OneRepublic I wish my wife was here Cynthia you are very much missed my heart will forever be yours love you no one can ever fill your shoes
It's been 19 months since I lost my husband. Foolishly, I never realized how intense the pain from grief would feel. I thought my heart was being squeezed into nothingness. One Republic & Shinedown brought me some peace after becoming a member of this Widowhood club that no one wants to join. A dear friend would send me specific songs that made me feel less alone & sometimes even brought a smile to my face. I wish I could tell you how to survive this journey none of us want to walk, but all I can say is to just keep going, my friend.
I completely understand... The message is undefeated... Love it and can really relate especially when life is throwing you lemons... Time to untie those weight bags...

If you are struggling through anything, I love you. There are people that care and want to see you succeed no matter how dark things get. Everything is temporary, keep going!
@@coconut1719 This song is about getting stuck in a rut. OneRepublic wrote on their MySpace page that "Stop and Stare" describes the common frustration of getting to a place in life where you think, "How in the world did I end up here, this isn't where I wanted to be, watching what I wanted pass me by."
This song and video means a lot to me. I was obsessed with this and One Republic three years ago. I never really understood this video. Now that I watch and listen, I'm taken back to my happier days, where I didn't know my future would be bright. But now that future I once had is my past, and this song lets me take another grasp at it. And now I understand the meaning of all this. Its important we all stop and stare every now and then, some truth is revealed.
I've been working through a lot of problems lately as I move into college, and in the midst of it all, I realized this song was playing on loop in my head. I couldn't tell you why, I'd never listened to it aside from hearing it on the radio a lot when I was younger. But I looked it up, and as I did, I just couldn't stop crying. I needed something like this. A chance to just let it all out. And as someone who doesn't cry often, I don't get that chance as much as I'd like to. I feel a lot better now. All I have to say is, thank you.
Great song, i used to listen to it all day long when I had a cancer in 2008 and it helped me to survive it, i still listening to it every time I feel down, thank you for these very deep lyrics

You know, whenever someone asked me, "what's your favorite song?" I always struggled to answer that question. But I am just now realizing I can truly call this one of my favorite songs, and that is a powerful title to have for someone like me. This song truly has something special. I first started listening to it when I was in middle school, and it resonated with me ever since. I always find myself coming back to this song and feeling understood, even though those feelings are hard to put into words. This song does it for me. It's hard to name a song you feel like can truly capture a part of your character but this one just does it for me perfectly. Thank you One Republic for always making music that is quite literally timeless to me. I never expressed it enough.
I'm so sorry to hear that. But just remember, like in the song, no matter how trapped you feel, there's always a way to keep moving forward. Things might not be alright now, but they will be.

One Republic sure is great! They know how to make amazing music, and lots of it! Most times bands make one good hit and the rest of their songs are trash, however, One Republic makes all their music likable and amazing! Tons of popular hits!
its funny really alot of people have the same opinion as you but ryan tedder said that he would never release something he didnt think would do good, he said he gave a good song to another artist and they ruined it, he wouldnt say who but you could probleys guess or find out using google :P
goldengamingpro Yeah, I heard an interview with Ryan Tedder and I think at some point he talks about "Got 2 Luv U" from Sean Paul feat. Alexis Jordan in this case. It was a radio interview here on UA-cam.
The entertainment industry is run by Satanists who intentionally have dumbed down most of the population. They use a higher frequency of 440 hertz in the music that triggers rage and anxiety. 432 hertz helps the mind to expand. It is possible that One Republic is one of few bands who are genuine. Travis and Darren Hayes also wrote beautiful music. Ben Howard too.
This town is colder now, I think it's sick of us It's time to make our move, I'm shakin' off the rust I've got my heart set on anywhere but here I'm staring down myself, counting up the years Steady hands just take the wheel Every glance is killing me Time to make one last appeal For the life I live Stop and stare I think I'm moving but I go nowhere Yeah, I know that everyone gets scared But I've become what I can't be, oh Stop and stare You start to wonder why you're here not there And you'd give anything to get what's fair But fair ain't what you really need Oh, can you see what I see' They're tryin' to come back, all my senses push Untie the weight bags, I never thought I could Steady feet, don't fail me now I'm gonna run till you can't walk Something pulls my focus out And I'm standing down Stop and stare I think I'm moving but I go nowhere Yeah, I know that everyone gets scared But I've become what I can't be, oh Stop and stare You start to wonder why you're here not there And you'd give anything to get what's fair But fair ain't what you really need Oh, you don't need Stop and stare I think I'm moving but I go nowhere Yeah, I know that everyone gets scared I've become what I can't be Oh, do you see what I see?
This song is great but not for everyone as not for everyone is to understand Chopin music. I love it. Stop and stare. Look at u and stop thinking "tomorrow would be better". Start to work on your life today :)
*Dear stranger reading this* . . 👇 *I just want to remind you that you're amazing, and I hope you have a beautiful life filled with happiness and love. Stay positive and keep smiling*
My homies! I feel this song in my bones. I remember that I somehow understood it even before I truly grasped the emotional depth of the lyrics. It's one of those songs that you just feel the meaning even if you don't understand it all. That's truly good music. I remember actually understanding every single word my sophomore year of high school which was one of the most difficult years of my life. You can feel the aching, the yearning in the song--of wanting for something so bad, something you're not sure will ever come, and being forced to simply face the raw reality of your own life. To Stop and Stare at the life you are currently living and drink it in with all its pain and its beauty.
Why is it that memories kick really hard when you hear a certain song from a certain part of your life... Dear memories hurt so much but i cant seem to let them go.. Such is life.. Love the song
0:42 Hello Its me. xD no really though this song touched me when I was going through a hard time, like every Time I hear it Im brought back to the emotions I used to carry while listening to this. This song touches you deep in the core its more then a song for me its a feeling.. Any one else feel the same?
My mom loved the Lord with all her heart and died early at 51. As a small child I would see her in the kitchen doing dishes and she would be singing this old song. My how I miss her tonight. Hug your living loved ones and tell them how much you love them because when the Lord takes them home it will change you forever. I am 65 now but I still remember her singing this like it was yesterday. May this song bring you hope and comfort!
This song used to be one of my favourites when I was younger. I totally forgot about it until I rewated Day6's cover and fell in love with it all over again, so I came here and now I'm crying at 1am
I found a video of DAY6 covering this, but I didn't recognize the song. I like One Republic though, so I clicked it. I listen to the words and suddenly I'm seven years old again, hearing this on the radio, mumbling along as best I can. The song is so nolstagic for me, and remembering it hit me like a ton of bricks.
Uh huh. I feel lately that many of the songs I’ve liked for so long now suddenly find an even deeper place in my soul I guess to speak to. It’s a little trippy or can be but hopefully I’ve got enough living behind me that I’ll be able to take it all in , carry on and someday realize I may have as they say “gained some wisdom “. Ha, we’ll see about that. In the meantime, I’ll continue listening and hospitality memorizing some lyrics for shower serenades to mo one .
I never realized how deep, relatable and beautiful this song this actually was until I got older and experienced the same feeling.
I literally just thought the same thing when I watched this video about 15 min ago.

I'm glad they never made pop music for the radio like "Thunder" by Imagine Dragons.
13 years and this song is as perfect as it can get. Song has been with me from childhood till now that im an adult. Heard it thousands of times and cant get enough. By far my favourite song of all time
The song was released in 2007 on the album "Dreaming Out Loud". The album will be 17 years old in 2024, so the song is not 13 years old, but 16
It's amazing how Ryan reinvents himself over the years but still stick to his roots: rock and pop. Such a genius!
thanks
Ryan Shordee 😂
How can ten years go so fast 🤷♀️
Sarah Bowers seriously! These days songs aren’t made this good and meaningful anymore
I'd be honored if some OneRepublic & Ryan Tedder fans would take a listen to my acoustic piano & vocal performance of STOP AND STARE on my YT channel in tribute to one of the most legendary songs of the 00's decade. Live acoustic with no autotune or digital editing. Thanks and peace.
IDK BRO IM SO UPSET IT FELT LIKE SUMMER ITS SEPTEMBER NOW, IN A COUPLE MONTHS ILL SEE THIS COMMENT.
It's like you think you're moving but go nowhere😁
its 2004 song
This song is a work of art.
Who have this weird feeling you can't define when you listen to the old songs, you used to listen 😅 what is this feeling?
Nostalgia, and it's bitter sweet
this song will never get old.
The lyrics speaks so deeply to me and what im going through. Its as if the universe gave this song especially for me. Thank you OneRepublic :')
One Republic sure is great! They know how to make amazing music, and lots of it! Most times bands make one good hit and the rest of their songs are trash, however, One Republic makes all their music likable and amazing! Tons of popular hits!
It's because of Ryan Tedder. :)
Love it
The singer is so versatile, I used to think One Republic was a unusually good boyband. :P Or at least, that there must be more than one singer.
its funny really alot of people have the same opinion as you but ryan tedder said that he would never release something he didnt think would do good, he said he gave a good song to another artist and they ruined it, he wouldnt say who but you could probleys guess or find out using google :P
goldengamingpro Yeah, I heard an interview with Ryan Tedder and I think at some point he talks about "Got 2 Luv U" from Sean Paul feat. Alexis Jordan in this case.
It was a radio interview here on UA-cam.
We were mature earlier listening to this kind of music in 2008 and 2009.
Lol, that sounds deep. :)

This town is colder now, I think it's sick of us
It's time to make our move, I'm shakin' off the rust
I've got my heart set on anywhere but here
I'm staring down myself, counting up the years
Steady hands just take the wheel
Every glance is killing me
Time to make one last appeal
For the life I live
Stop and stare
I think I'm moving but I go nowhere
Yeah, I know that everyone gets scared
But I've become what I can't be, oh
Stop and stare
You start to wonder why you're here not there
And you'd give anything to get what's fair
But fair ain't what you really need
Oh, can you see what I see'
They're tryin' to come back, all my senses push
Untie the weight bags, I never thought I could
Steady feet, don't fail me now
I'm gonna run till you can't walk
Something pulls my focus out
And I'm standing down
Stop and stare
I think I'm moving but I go nowhere
Yeah, I know that everyone gets scared
But I've become what I can't be, oh
Stop and stare
You start to wonder why you're here not there
And you'd give anything to get what's fair
But fair ain't what you really need
Oh, you don't need
Stop and stare
I think I'm moving but I go nowhere
Yeah, I know that everyone gets scared
I've become what I can't be
Oh, do you see what I see?
thanks

This song is great but not for everyone as not for everyone is to understand Chopin music. I love it. Stop and stare. Look at u and stop thinking "tomorrow would be better". Start to work on your life today :)
I like Chopin
Well good for you

2021 still listening to this song
Remember hearing this song so many years ago,how time flys.
I feel you :(
Man ! Tell me about it VH1 Top 10 Count Down In TheA.m before You Go to school Typa Vibe 🎶
2008-2009 best years hands down
2007

2005-2009
2008-09 was the one of the worst years in my life, after then its been smooth sailings
I disagree, I was way too young and only in 6th grade
The most underrated onerepublic song of all time!!
I was 13 years old when this first came out. Listening to this song makes me feel sad about something I'm missing and I don't even know what it is.
My mother
That's called nostalgia. It's a longing for what is gone, for what can never quite be again.
@@claywhisman9721 that hurts, man
Hope by now you have found what it is and is in a better place.
I almost cried when I saw your comment cause the same feeling I share with you
10 years later and I still feel the same when I hear this song, young, brave, proud and ready to face a world I’m not prepared for.

Hello MyDay :D
I was waiting for someone to comment abt day6 lol
On this cover brian deep voice kill me 😂
same here, about 2 years ago I also found a video where Day6 cover this song, hope that Ryan knows it too, and Ryan vs Brian can meet in person 😁
@@giabaophannguyen6187 yeah that could be so cool**
The lyrics are amazing and so original! 😢 I wish music was like this again.
Now that I’m older and can understand the meaning of the lyrics, I can truly appreciate every single word of this song and relate on every level. 😔
One of those classics , rare original gems , that will never go out of style ❤️
Every glance is killing me... ❤
Love this tune...
My mind has been singing this song lately so I came here to feed my brain with quality music.
I remember back in the day, when this song was the shit.
How dare you sayin this.
huslen fantasy He means that the song is good. Chill out
huslen fantasy Damn... Back in the day "this is the shit" meant This is the best just like drug dealers say "this is some good shit"
LMAO.. love how American slang is so contradictory XDD
