As a person from Bosnia I think this is really devastating. Ever since that war a lot of people died. Like my dads brother died in war and there is still mines in woods, holes in houses. These wars are so dumb? Like can’t we just have peace instead of fighting one another. Like we are people to and have feelings?

The part where Serbs of 3 religions were formed as first it was occupied by Osman Turkish Empire and when Austria came to liberate it, some people prefered becoming muslim then being turned to Catholics, whole towns in some cases at 10 minutes on the squere would ask and be proclamed Muslim. After Austrian Empire came some were as expected made to turn to Catholics. And now in the last 30 years supported by west idea they are trying to make people of one nation divided in 3 religions orthodox, catholic and muslim into 3 nations. The irony is that both Serbia and Montenegro (also having a large population of ethnic Serbs) are in the process of becoming EU members because the majority of the population have finally realized that endless wars caused by nationalism are stupid and its actually better to work together in a trade bloc that benefits all members. Meanwhile, in Bosnia they have a Serb nationalist leader that still hasn't figured that out after 30 years.. The difference this time around is that if he starts another war, they are unlikely to get much help from Serbia and Montenegro who are busy trying to integrate themselves into the EU and very likely are not interested in going for round 2 against NATO. This means that the scale of any conflict would likely be much smaller and the war criminals would be captured and locked up a lot quicker too.
Relatively recently most people in Montenegro declared Serbian church and language to be their native not Montenegrin. Government went against majority of the population and put a ban on mention of Serbian language in schools and is trying to convert Serbian church property into their own. It's a country where 45% of the people voted against independence of Montenegro.
Serbia and Montenegro don't wanna join the EU anymore... furthermore the EU-commission has declared they won't take in any more countries in the near future.

In Bosnia and Herzegovina was elections. In those elections it had to come out 66% population of Bosnia, that they can seperate from Yugoslavia. 62% of the population voted. They couldn't seperate but they did. Alija Izetbegović could stop the war, but he wanted all Bosnia and Herzegovina for Bosniaks. 1:30 Why they didn't say that, and Serbs didn't attack Bosniaks and Croats. Regarding the war in Bosnia-Herzegovina, it is important that we do not decontextualize crimes and events. There is no equivalency between individual instances of war crimes and systematic crimes against humanity. The "all sides did it" discourse is revisionism. There's a huge difference between crimes committed by individuals and crimes that are systemically planned. Bosnian Serb and Bosnian Croat separatist forces committed systemically planned war crimes, this is an undeniable FACT. The Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina committed war crimes at times but did not commit any systemically planned crimes. For decades now, there has been a trend and tendancy to lump everything together, which is exactly what war criminals and their supporters have been doing for years, even decades, trying to relativize everything until it loses its true context, hence meaning and known butchers suddenly become innocent heroes.

Croatia didn't want to divide you, Croats from B&H wanted autonomy. That's why they got rights in federation as a compromise while Serbs got autonomy as compromise.

Croatia never attacked BiH. Croatia and the HVO was responsible for the survival of BiH, just like Galbraith and Okun said. The muslim army attacked HVO first to gain territory they lost to the Serbs. Croatia didn't try to divide BiH because there is no logically consisted argument to prove these claims since Croats voted at BiH referendum, Croatia recognized BiH, HVO defended BiH and fought the VRS in 1992, Croatia armed and delivered uninterrupted humanitarian help, trained muslim soldiers, took in 500,000 refugees etc.

I'm from Bosnia and there is no literal way of a war happening cause Bosnia is soon entering Nato and there cant be a conflict inside a Nato member country, and there are average relations between 3 different nationalities so.
I think she got something wrong. She mixed up the ethnicity and nationalities, people from Croatia are CROATS and people from Serbia are SERBS, the same way Bosnian Croats are CROATS and Bosnian Serbs are SERBS. Serb/Serbians and Croats/Croatians are only shorter and longer forms of the same ethnonym. We can say that Croats and Serbs from Bosnia are not Croatian and Serb nationals but rather Bosnian nationals however that is a completely different thing. These variations Serb/Serbians and Croats/Croatians do not exist in Serbian or Croatian languages, Serbs/Serbians are Srbi and Croats/Croatians are Hrvati. It is an English language feature not really a terminological or ethnonymic difference.

It was a dumb conflict which was orchestrated by US and EU to bring the EX YU down. They have succeeded and as a consequence Serbia wanted to keep part of the Bosnia to herself and Croatia wanted to keep also part of the Bosnia to herself. This is why internal conflict has arissen. There were parts of the country where most population was Serbs and there Serbians (not RS but country Serbia nowdays) have tried to conquer those cities. Same goes for the Croats in other cities where before the war were most croatians and Croatia wanted that part of the Bosnia. Because of that civil war broke out governed by different states. I know that this war was described in history books as a civil war and not international but I have to disagree. At the end of the war there was a lot of dead inocent people at all sides. There was a lot of rich people at all sides. And all those rich people lead the country still. This is why I have gone and moved to the other country far away from the madness of Balkan. I hope to take the citizenship of the other country and to never again have to explain to someone why I am Croat, Bosniak or Serb. It is much easier to live as a immigrant.

For the record, “a total of 161 persons were indicted in the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia... 94 of these are Serbs, 29 are Croats, 9 are Albanians, 9 are Bosniaks, 2 are Macedonians and 2 are Montenegrins. We only have the same religion, that's it. All victims of war deserve some form of compensation, obviously just not Bosniak ones. With that being said, at least 80% of the war victims were Bosniaks and Bosniaks suffered the most during and from the war, those are undeniable facts.
Why the US and EU haven’t done enough? Well for one they had multiple sources in Belgrade that were close to Milosevic who warned of impending ethnic cleansing in the Bosnian enclaves and safe zones and decided to sit on that information rather than send in air support. NATO and the UN abandoned those people and then made the Muslim majority take a deal where they ended up losing 45% of its original territory. The only concession the Serbs were forced to make were not getting Sarajevo. The Vance Owen plan was solid but splitting up the country along ethnic lines will only lead to the polarization we’re seeing today.
It was in the US and EU's best interests to break up Yugoslavia, now they are just hypocrites who pretend to defend Bosnia's territorial integrity but when push comes to shove and our "friendly" neighbors attack us again, they won't do a thing to help.
It's most uncomforting to know that the US/UN are at the helm of peace or no peace. Looking at the current global political climate the US need to substitute the income lost to BRCS. For the US war = $$$ plus a little more $$$$$ then multiply that by the biggest number you can imagine.

NATO virtually destroyed Bosnia; the US and Germany decided to split the spoils of victory, Germany getting Slovenia/Croatia and US getting Bosnia and Kosovo. The US likely had poor results at the Sarajevo Olympics 1984, and provided the paybacks not long after. The US should get its nose out of Bosnia, get the "High Rep" out, and if the Olympics ever return to Sarajevo, "boycott" the games, I'm sure the Bosnians won't mind.

After Austrian Empire came some were as expected made to turn to Catholics. Actually the best, quickest explanation of the three groups and their religions that fought the Bosnian war I’ve seen. It took me a long time in the 90s to figure out why they were all fighting each other, there was such a mess of propaganda it was difficult to figure it out

The irony is that both Serbia and Montenegro (also having a large population of ethnic Serbs) are in the process of becoming EU members because the majority of the population have finally realized that endless wars caused by nationalism are stupid and its actually better to work together in a trade bloc that benefits all members.
Meanwhile, in Bosnia they have a Serb nationalist leader that still hasn't figured that out after 30 years..
The difference this time around is that if he starts another war, they are unlikely to get much help from Serbia and Montenegro who are busy trying to integrate themselves into the EU and very likely are not interested in going for round 2 against NATO.
This means that the scale of any conflict would likely be much smaller and the war criminals would be captured and locked up a lot quicker too.
Relatively recently most people in Montenegro declared Serbian church and language to be their native not Montenegrin. Government went against majority of the population and put a ban on mention of Serbian language in schools and is trying to convert Serbian church property into their own. It's a country where 45% of the people voted against independence of Montenegro.
Serbia and Montenegro don't wanna join the EU anymore... furthermore the EU-commission has declared they won't take in any more countries in the near future.
EU will be destroyed and Nato Serbs does not want EU.

Good video overall. I think it would have been informative to also mention the federally controlled military and rise of the local, Srpska controlled militarized police force that takes part in their marches and demonstrations and is a point of tension.
When you have Bosniaks in the federation marching with Allah Akbar chants, our Republic of Srpska military police will only get stronger. You trust me on that.

Serbian president Slobodan Milosevic dismantled Tito`s federal Yugoslavia by getting rid of the autonomy of Kosovo & Vojvodina. That caused the collapse of the old federal Yugoslavia . The West tried to save Yugoslavia but it was too late, after the Serbs started to kill people.

It wasn't started by internal fighting but militias supported by Serbia entered Bosnia and used Yugoslav army present in the country to cleanse country from all but Serbs. In Bosnia and Herzegovina was elections. In those elections it had to come out 66% population of Bosnia, that they can seperate from Yugoslavia. 62% of the population voted. They couldn't seperate but they did. Alija Izetbegović could stop the war, but he wanted all Bosnia and Herzegovina for Bosniaks. 1:30 Why they didn't say that, and Serbs didn't attack Bosniaks and Croats. NATO and EU never said true story.

Regarding the war in Bosnia-Herzegovina, it is important that we do not decontextualize crimes and events. There is no equivalency between individual instances of war crimes and systematic crimes against humanity. The "all sides did it" discourse is revisionism. There's a huge difference between crimes committed by individuals and crimes that are systemically planned.
Bosnian Serb and Bosnian Croat separatist forces committed systemically planned war crimes, this is an undeniable FACT. The Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina committed war crimes at times but did not commit any systemically planned crimes. For decades now, there has been a trend and tendancy to lump everything together, which is exactly what war criminals and their supporters have been doing for years, even decades, trying to relativize everything until it loses its true context, hence meaning and known butchers suddenly become innocent heroes.

1. It was not a civil war. It was an aggression. Both Serbia and Croatia were involved. They wanted to divide the country between themselves. And yes, they were aided by local population. 2. If the 80% of casualties were Bosniaks, does it tell you something? It was planned, it was systematical. I acknowledge victims on all sides and I'm pro punishment for all war criminals, but without proper context, saying 'all sided were bad' doesn't explain past nor present situation. 3. Our main problem IS Dayton agreement. Dividing country on basis of ethnicity created never-ending tug of war game, without possibility for advancement. Politicians in B&H, juridical system, "businessmen" and criminals are the parts of the same structure (similar to other post socialist countries). The division created a perfect veil for theft of state property, and continuous corruption/criminal activities.
Croatia didn't want to divide you, Croats from B&H wanted autonomy. That's why they got rights in federation as a compromise while Serbs got autonomy as compromise.
...and they didn't have any support from Croatia. Right. You could say the same about Serbs. It was all on their own volition, without any backing from Serbia, both in Croatia and Bosnia.
Croatia never attacked BiH. Croatia and the HVO was responsible for the survival of BiH, just like Galbraith and Okun said. The muslim army attacked HVO first to gain territory they lost to the Serbs. Croatia didn't try to divide BiH because there is no logically consisted argument to prove these claims since Croats voted at BiH referendum, Croatia recognized BiH, HVO defended BiH and fought the VRS in 1992, Croatia armed and delivered uninterrupted humanitarian help, trained muslim soldiers, took in 500,000 refugees etc.
@@anteveic327 A lot of Croats want both an independent Croatia largely ethnically homogeneous and ethnically cleanse of its main pre-war ethnic minority + a Croatian ethno-state in another country on top of that. They forget that it doesn't work like that, nobody owes Croats anything let alone that much. Croatia plotted with Serbia through the Bosnian war, that's easily verifiable.
The wounds are difficult to heal. Forgiveness does not mean forgetting.

I think she got something wrong. She mixed up the ethnicity and nationalities, people from Croatia are CROATS and people from Serbia are SERBS, the same way Bosnian Croats are CROATS and Bosnian Serbs are SERBS. Serb/Serbians and Croats/Croatians are only shorter and longer forms of the same ethnonym. We can say that Croats and Serbs from Bosnia are not Croatian and Serb nationals but rather Bosnian nationals however that is a completely different thing. These variations Serb/Serbians and Croats/Croatians do not exist in Serbian or Croatian languages, Serbs/Serbians are Srbi and Croats/Croatians are Hrvati. It is an English language feature not really a terminological or ethnonymic difference.

So the right term would be Bosnian Croats/Croatians and Croatian nationals/citizens. The problem is that she is using term Croat as of it only denotes ethnic Croats in Bosnia and Herzegovina, but in actuality it is also used for ethnic Croat citizens of Croatia.

It was a dumb conflict which was orchestrated by US and EU to bring the EX YU down. They have succeeded and as a consequence Serbia wanted to keep part of the Bosnia to herself and Croatia wanted to keep also part of the Bosnia to herself. This is why internal conflict has arissen. There were parts of the country where most population was Serbs and there Serbians (not RS but country Serbia nowdays) have tried to conquer those cities. Same goes for the Croats in other cities where before the war were most croatians and Croatia wanted that part of the Bosnia. Because of that civil war broke out governed by different states. I know that this war was described in history books as a civil war and not international but I have to disagree. At the end of the war there was a lot of dead inocent people at all sides. There was a lot of rich people at all sides. And all those rich people lead the country still. This is why I have gone and moved to the other country far away from the madness of Balkan. I hope to take the citizenship of the other country and to never again have to explain to someone why I am Croat, Bosniak or Serb. It is much easier to live as a immigrant.

For the record, “a total of 161 persons were indicted in the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia... 94 of these are Serbs, 29 are Croats, 9 are Albanians, 9 are Bosniaks, 2 are Macedonians and 2 are Montenegrins. The others are of unknown ethnicity or their charges have been withdrawn. There are 62 convicted Serbs, 18 convicted Croats, 5 convicted Bosniaks, 2 convicted Montenegrins, 1 convicted Macedonian and 1 convicted Albanian in this list.” Clearly, the atrocities were disproportionately committed by Chetniks, cowardly individuals that are only “tough” when they outnumber their victims by 10:1 or when they’re armed and are against unarmed and innocent civilians, including women and children.

First of all, not all serbs are "chetniks" as all not bosniaks are arabs, so you can keep that to yourself. "Only" these people have been convicted because they only got them, and those were mainly were officials. If Germany had to pay reparations to the Jewish survivors of the holocaust, Serbia and Republika Smrdska should have to pay reparations to the Bosniak survivors of the Bosnian genocide. If the Serbian government doesn’t have the monetary means by which to pay reparations, then international embargoes and sanctions should be placed upon them together with the seizure of their assets (land, infrastructure, etc.) as a form of reparations in lieu of monetary payment. They shouldn’t have committed the crime if they couldn’t pay the fine, not that any amount of reparations can replace or compensate for the countless innocent Bosniak lives that were either lost, displaced and/or tormented and the damage, turmoil, and suffering that was unjustly incurred. What was done in the dark has come to the light and no amount of Chetnik gaslighting will be able to distort the facts or cause any doubts or reservations as to Serbian culpability.

All victims of war deserve some form of compensation, obviously just not Bosniak ones. With that being said, at least 80% of the war victims were Bosniaks and Bosniaks suffered the most during and from the war, those are undeniable facts.

Why the US and EU haven’t done enough? Well for one they had multiple sources in Belgrade that were close to Milosevic who warned of impending ethnic cleansing in the Bosnian enclaves and safe zones and decided to sit on that information rather than send in air support. NATO and the UN abandoned those people and then made the Muslim majority take a deal where they ended up losing 45% of its original territory.
The only concession the Serbs were forced to make were not getting Sarajevo. The Vance Owen plan was solid but splitting up the country along ethnic lines will only lead to the polarization we’re seeing today.
It was in the US and EU's best interests to break up Yugoslavia, now they are just hypocrites who pretend to defend Bosnia's territorial integrity but when push comes to shove and our "friendly" neighbors attack us again, they won't do a thing to help.
It's most uncomforting to know that the US/UN are at the helm of peace or no peace. Looking at the current global political climate the US need to substitute the income lost to BRCS. For the US war = $$$ plus a little more $$$$$ then multiply that by the biggest number you can imagine.

Croatia and Serbia are the best of friends when it comes to splitting Bosnia apart and planning to divide it among themselves so yes there is endorsement for serbian secession from croatian officials.

NATO virtually destroyed Bosnia; the US and Germany decided to split the spoils of victory, Germany getting Slovenia/Croatia and US getting Bosnia and Kosovo.
The US likely had poor results at the Sarajevo Olympics 1984, and provided the paybacks not long after.
The US should get its nose out of Bosnia, get the "High Rep" out, and if the Olympics ever return to Sarajevo, "boycott" the games, I'm sure the Bosnians won't mind.
