Even in Korea
The Korean men rarely get white women there.
These are 2018 statistics for Korean marriages
Korean men with Vietnamese was 6,338, Chinese women 3671, Thai at 1,560, 987 Japanese, 852 Filipinas, 567 American women, 0 Canadian or Australian women listed.

Would love if J Bros could talk about their identity as Asian-American (eg: did ever had an identity crisis?)
definitely. cool to see interest in this topic - we weren't sure how it would be received . more to come!

I really like & appreciate that you guys talked about this.
As an Asian myself growing up, I didn't like any of my facial features but as K-wave happened, society's attitude has changed but I also have come to accept more & like my own unique features over time.
I am now trying to teach my younger teen bro who is growing up as an Asian male, to be more confident about his physical appearance.
simba_yoboii - I find it incredible that you held your own ethnicity against yourself. There are attractive people in every race and ethnicity. I am fairly confident that both your brother and you are attractive - and BTS is not the reason, but perhaps you are now open to recognizing that others might see you as attractive.
@@veronicawo3033 Aww thank you (though my profile is a catfish). Anyways, no it wasn't BTS solely but the whole K world entering western countries did play a part for me, it wasn't the only factor but one of factors.

@@AliAhmed-ve5xl I see u trolling everywhere in almost all videos related to Asian men.🤣 What happened? Did ur crush get an Asian bf? Btw, nice try with that fake BS propaganda.
If you feel your attractiveness rose with BTS successes, I can’t agree. You always were attractive. What may have changed is how you perceived others to see you. As you noticed people from all cultures begin to appreciate BTS, you may have begun to realize that people were open to seeing you in the same open light.

@@AliAhmed-ve5xl Wait a second. US and Australia and Canada are multiracial countries. This statistics doesn't show the racial background of each international couple. Many 'Americans' and 'Australians' can be in fact ethnic Koreans. And for the men's side, the reason why there are so many South eastern Asian wife's for Korean men is due to the massive mail bride order wave for Korean men who had the difficulties in finding their Korean counterparts especially in the countryside.
I am German in USA. OMG. Korean man, please! I've got the sweetest boyfriend!
@@AliAhmed-ve5xl guess it depends on personal preference. But korean boy groups or idols are generally more “feminine” in terms of looks than the average Korean man. What they show on screen don’t accurately represent the general Korean male population and their attires, traits etc.
My daughter began listening to BTS and Kpop five years ago and introduced me. I am thankful for that. We have learned so much about the Korean culture that we think is amazing,: the customs, food, and beliefs, work ethics, respect for elders, etc. It has definitely made her want to travel the world and meet people from all countries and cultures.

You are more mature when you realize that your ethnic group or your sex or any other tribe you belong to is not the only group with good ideas. It is a good idea to ask people outside of your usual group how they solve problems or how they cook food to get some new ideas for your own life.
It takes intelligence to realize that there are other valid approaches to a situation besides the ones favored by your group.
Many problems in society are so complex and persistent our leaders need all the help they can get from any angle to improve the overall situation.
gwin droppin knowledge here with this comment. to be receptive to ideas other than your own is such a tough skill that takes so much practice. nailed it
I been attracted to Asian men pretty much all my life. its nice to see more westerners to catch up to me now 😌
I’m half Asian and only interested in Asian men. However, due to kpop, many girls are after Asian (specifically Korean) men in a disrespectful manner. I have seen negative reactions due to this problem. Asian men are disgusted by this behavior and have said they are going to date their own race or Asian men take advantage of these girls. Just a few years ago, Asian men were the lowest rated race chosen on dating apps. In my opinion, it’s honestly annoying because guys are seriously suspicious now as they think they are just some sort of object.
@@countrychickn Kpop is gay. Statistically 75% of their fans are east asians. 1% Europe and .5% north America
@greas Wyq sorry, Asian men are definitely last. I never see black guys complaining in any video in America that women don't like them. Even Steve Harvey made fun of Asian men. There is books out there called "How to date a white woman" specifically for Asian males. Go to any local club, there is white females twerking on black guys in America.
@greas Wyq Iraqis are brown. I know plenty of brown Iraqis.
@greas Wyq Pakistanis are not least desired. There is famous white women who married Pakistani men. Their numbers are small in America. There is literally no cases of famous white women with Asian men. There is famous white females with black men though
I dont know if it is just me but honestly since I was a kid I've found every single people or ethnicity group attractive! Like human is human and they're all beautiful ... but I always felt that of all people, Asians would not really go for black girls so I tried not to develop serious crushes for them. That being said I still wanted to marry Bruce Lee😅
You're definitely not alone! This just shows what a beautiful soul you have, to able to see the good in people despite differences and what are socially/generally considered as beautiful in your community. I appreciate your comment!

Listening to this while working. Lol but I definitely would like to hear you guys go more in depth about this topic. I always find it weird that society doesn’t recognize Asian men in general as hot or attractive especially if we’re supposed to be such a “melting pot” like you guys mentioned. I get wanting to have cultural similarities because of wanting someone who understands but when people say they don’t date so-and-so ethnicity, that just sounds either racist or self-loathing.
Loving your content and seeing Korean Americans experience! As a half Korean living in the UK I'm always interested to see other people's experiences. 감사해요!
being open minded is surely an indicator of growth, but we have to understand why we are accepting it. Some people mistake following the trend as being open minded. Love u guys!!!
I should be studying for pharm rn but y'all more fun lol
the academic part of us say go study. the party side of us say keep watching
Touching on the open minded conversation. I always felt like when you open up your circle of friends or entertainment it starts to open up your mind. Being from NYC I was always around a ton of cultures and religions so I had crushes, friends, and an ex from all different backgrounds. But my ex was a small town white conservative guy so him learning my culture was definitely a culture shock. But hopefully it introduced him to learning more about people and experiences that he wouldn’t have known otherwise.
Great to see NYC looking lively again. Stay safe!
I hope you guys do podcasts sometime.. I could listen to endless hours of JBros.
Seriously, a podcast would be awesome

Yes JBROS Being open minded is important because we cannot assume for those ignorant people who don’t want to have understanding and compassion for others
2+2=5 lol that’s hilarious🤣 I think being open-minded is important because I might miss out on something that would be good for me. I still have some things that I won’t negotiate but I’ll say I am more open-minded than not. Great video guys and that food looked soooo good! I may have to go there one day. Stay Safe and I watched y’all (to the end of the video lol). See Ya☺️
You guys have good discussions on your platform, obviously you have total different personalities and interests that’s what make it work!!!
An Asian friend of mine in the US told us that in his dating app (he is gay) he sees a lot of “no Asians”. We aren’t talking decades ago. But several months ago. I didn’t know before then. Then I began to notice how Asian men are portrayed in American (western?) movies. I was shocked. I have so many things to say. Thanks for sharing NYC guys. It is my “spiritual home”, one I had to leave behind and it broke my heart to do so. NYC is the one that got away that I never be able to get over. Hope 2022 will be better for everyone.
these conversations are so comfortable and flow so naturally! really enjoyed this video :)
I love this one! I don't know how many times I've watched it. As an English learner, this one has tons to pick up, not only language-wise but also, you know, cultural stuff. Thanks a million!
Omg the song was stuck in my head and I finally found it (Home by Sarah Kang)
Love your videos and you guys always have such good taste in music
I am just gonna randomly saying something after watching this video....
I am an international student from China and I came to the states last year. The reason that I want to work in nyc after my graduation is that I still believe America is a melting pot and I enjoy the diversity. I did not grow up in the states so I cannot speak for something that I have never experienced before, but I've heard about the lunch box moment and the identity crisis. I really sorry about that but I've always been proud of eating Chinese food growing up.
I think Millenials are more open-minded and we are becoming the force that is shaping the world. So kudos to you guys and other minorities that are keeping bringing a positive impact to the world!
Also, highly recommend Taste the Nation with Padma Lakshmi!
very well stated Lori . interesting perspective you bring as someone who immigrated just 1 year ago. sounds like you are both proud of your culture and are making efforts to assimilate into a new one. props to you as well !!

I really enjoy them getting out into the city and having a more serious conversation. It's enjoyable and entertaining to hear their perspectives.
Just wanted to chime in about the openess thing. I am from Asia( from a quite a conservative country i would say.). and i have lived in a few cities around the world.
I would say that openess only comes from exposure. ( Be it our upbringing, religion, media we watch, etc) There are deeply rooted in the way we perceive our surroundings, and forms our world view.
We need to familiarise with the unfamiliar long enough to see it as normal. If you only see a certain kind of way to live your life your whole life, it's hard to imagine life in another way. Be it an unconventional lifestyle, career choice, etc.
The thing about this kind of topic whenever i am home is, it's very hard to make ppl believe that other kind of life is possible, especially if they haven't experience other kinds of society. Not to say one is better than the other.
But i agree that kpop have brought some overdue attention to the Asian population, and i am grateful for that. :)
great point about exposure leading to openness . what u say is one of the main reasons people enjoy travel - not just for leisure, but the refreshing points of views they get from seeing the unfamiliar . thanks for this comment!

It is easy for people to say that they are or believe that they are open minded, but it is another for them to actually put their open mindedness to practice when dealing with others who have opposing views.
Love the vlog! I’m Malaysian and I’ve always dreamed of moving to New York one day! On a side note, I agree with the importance of being open minded and being able to listen more than to speak. Being open minded doesn’t necessarily mean to follow or agree with others, but just accepting people for their opinions? I’m also struggling with listening only especially when I have a strong stance, but I do see the beauty from it, and sometimes it’s surprises you and even challenges your own thoughts. It’s like the perks of being a wallflower. ☺️

From someone who has lived in North America and now back in Asia and happened to be in South Korea recently - I have friends who have the Korean American identity and observed the attitude and mindset- I can talk about it for hours ( Did a bit of research for my work too-coach/psychologist working in entertainment area here btw) Since am not in NYC now I cant see the changes directly but I would sure say the K-wave has had some impact on it for sure! Im from a military town alot of mixing occurs. We have alot of Korean wives who move to US but also some. 🇰🇷Men. As military brat I had crushes on Philipino and Korean boys in class but I found that as a teenager I was told by some of my Korean friends Korean parents could be just as critical on their Acceptance of their sons dating white or black American girls than Asian American girls so I never asked my Korean classmates out Even tho many were cute
You guys are famous!! 😋
I sure do love you both ❤
This was a fascinating subject and it would be great if you could talk about it more. As someone who has mostly lived in Asia and then moved to Canada, culture shock was a big thing. It was less diverse and understanding of differences. Now things are a lot more open minded and diverse and people are genuinely more interested in Asia in general. I appreciate how kpop, kdramas and kbeauty has made it mainstream. Back in the days we just listened to artists and didn’t label them

I can't speak for any other American woman, but myself. I'm a first-generation Italian American woman living in the tri-state area. I grew up in an area with a large population of Korean Americans. I have Korean girlfriends and I've dated Korean American men. For me people are people. It's about kindness and respect. If I feel it, I go with it. All my experiences dating Korean men have been great. Korean men most def hotties
How was the sack though
I love listening to your perspectives on topics not many people talk about/ are afraid to.
When I grow up imma go to New York and meet you two. Nauri is a lucky fan tho😢
Interesting 9:20-9:40😊. I was at H-Mart (Jersey) the other day and thought Korean men are very attractive but very shy. So, I recently rejected a Korean male (international student at my college) because my parents thought the Hispanic and Asian cultures were too different. But I think females are interested in dating Asian men but some of us have to get pass stereotypes. Not only is Kpop helping us move pass Asian stereotypes but UA-cam channels like yours is helping too :) Besides Korean food is delicious
.5% of north Americans listen to Kpop
75% of kpop is east asian women
Asian men have always been on my radar since middle school. However I never pursued it. BTS did introduce me to Kpop which reminds me of the music I listened to back in the 90's and early 2000's. Tfs

Love your deep talks! Felt like chiming in so many times to represent the Asian females in their 30s
I feel you! I really wanted to chip in when they were taking about dating and how their nationality and ethnicity may have influenced their mindset. I know mine influenced my decisions and mindset big time. 😁😅
So great to have friends like the two of you guys
1. I absolutely LOVE your channel. Your videos always make me think and/or smile. You both offer fresh perspectives on modern topics.
2. Asian men are definitely desired in the U.S. but, unfortunately, due to the European and often toxic standards of what masculinity should look like, Asian men have not been at the top of the dating list for American women that are not open- minded. Why would you want to be with someone that does not keep an open mind anyway?
3. The K-wave has certainly opened the collective mind of the western world to the depth and beauty of far-eastern cultures (all east asian cultures) and although there are plenty of western women that have been interested in asian men prior to the k-wave, I must urge asian men to really get to know who you're dating because along with the K-wave comes fetishization, k-boos and weaboos. Be sure you're not wasting your time on someone that sees you as a representation of a fantasy instead of getting to know you as a person and a soul.
Nobody in America likes Kpop
1% of Europe listens to Kpop
75% of their fans are east asian little girls

To eliminate biases and ignorance, an idea to show people like ourselves of any heritage would be using UA-cam, Vimeo and other content creator platform resources, we have already, and put ourselves behind our cameras. It doesn't have to be complex or a big budgeted film with well-done scenes. I think starting small and building our own creation through production would definitely take off and will be a go to watch for people in the future. I think seeing is believing for a lot of people these days instead of telling our stories. If mainstream media, print or digital, film industries doesn't show what we would like to be represented, then we have to market and do it ourselves.
We could open a platform on UA-cam that introduces Korean American pop (K(KA)-pop? LOL) and culture that shows an informative yet a cultural blend illustration of Korean heritage and American culture in pop music for example. I would love to see Korean Americans and Aussies collaborate to sing mainly in their native tongue, English, and speak some Korean in their music to send a love letter to their heritage. I think Asians born raised overseas are unique and we deserve our own way of not telling our stories, but, 'showing' our stories. That way, film industries world wide especially America and Asia can interpret and be educated of our existence so that if film makers of non-Asian background, in particular, who would love to represent us in their writing, will be better characterized than what we are getting thus far in the past.
You guys are a great example of this. Wongfu, Dami Im, Thuy Nga productions to name a few. It is good to educate and discuss these things. However, Hollywood and pop culture are people's teachers unfortunately. I think we should take the ideas of building pop culture and Hollywood like film industries of any level of film expertise; to make films, books and entertainment for people in America and worldwide.
Hey! I love all your videos so much. As a Korean-Australian I really relate to a lot of the points that you make and it's been really refreshing to see people further in the walks of life than me with similar experiences. I was wondering if you could make a video on how you felt in your twenties in regards to dentistry and engineering (both heavy study load subjects) and doubts about the future that you had, as well as what you would say to your 19/20 year old self as a person in their 30s now!
That is a very good content idea. We def have alot of things we would advise our 20 year old selves if we could haha
@@JBRODUCTION thanks for the prompt and lovely reply! It really made my day. I sometimes feel burnt out from pre-med (second year) but you guys make my day every time I watch your videos. Looking forward to the amazing content :) Please look after yourselves first and foremost though!

I believe - is very personal, don't hit me- that people who like a person only for nationality etc are only setting for surface. Different nationalities and persons have beautiful traces in spite of the limelight of a nationality wave..we all can agree or disagree on that, but when you find a real connection is based on an inexplicably weird moment not on a face or body. What k wave has done is create more awareness on culture, which is absolutely remarkable.
Love watching your videos. Your editing just keeps getting better and better
Yay! Happy to see you again!
