How do you prepare your cdc. Yours looks like an artists paint brush head going on the hook but mine just looks like a load of separating feathers

It takes as much time to pair the CDC feathers together as it does to tie the fly ! Good top quality even CDC makes the job a lot easier . Cheaper inferior CDC can have a lot of fluff and waste in the packet . Its a case of laying 5 feathers on top of each other evenly smoothing them as you go .. just don't cough or sneeze !! I can recommend The Irish Plucker for the best CDC around . facebook.com/profile.php?id=100076338474662

Hi Tim, thoroughly enjoying the tying videos thanks so much for putting these out there. Quick question on the Yellow Owl would you use this with Gink or any other floatant or is the CDC bouyant enough? Also are these normally fished as a team or single fly?

Im not a fan of putting any kind of floatant on CDC . You stand a very real chance of sinking the fly > there is plenty of naturel oil in the feather . If you want your fly to be more buoyant then increase the amount of feathers you use in the tying . Happy to fish these either as a single or a team , there is no hard and fast rule . However when fish around big weed beds I always only fish a single . You are asking for trouble having droppers on in this situation .

    Hi Tim
This is one of my all time favourite dry flies. Was wondering where you source your cdc feathers? Ive not been tying all that long and id like to give this a try. Cheers

Irish fly supplies ... super select CDC , they also do fantastic Bronze Mallard for your Dabbler pattern! Thanks for watching .
