    If you click "SHOW MORE" in the description above your be able to see Links to the Tools 🔧🔨🔧 I use. Also Clickable Chapters📋 📙 throughout the video and other Links 🎬 that may be of interest. I've had a few viewers request where they can buy the tools they see in some of my videos but it's not very clear that the "SHOW MORE" tab has a lot of information in that may be of interest. Admittedly the amazon links are associated with me and I would earn a small commission which helps towards keeping the channel funded.

    Thank you for doing this video! It just saved me during this petrol shortage as I had a mini that broke down not long ago with a full tank in it. Much respect to you man!

    This is how i get fuel for my scooter, but I usually start the engine, disconnect the fuel pump fuse to depressurize the system before disconnecting the rail. Video explains very well!

    It's usually very easy to find the fuel pump relay in the underhood fusebox. Simply jumper pins 30 and 87 together (no fuse needed, since the fuse is still in the upstream circuit) and sit back while the pump does the work. Saves you from cycling the key and booting up all the electronics 50 times. Be sure to stay around ofcourse, those pumps shouldn't be run dry.
    5% ethanol, you're lucky! :) Here we have the terrible E10 fuel with, you guessed it, 10%. It absolutely destroys small engine carburetors..
    I didn't know the fuel became heavier with storage. Is it because moisture is absorbed by the ethanol?
    Thanks for the video!

      Fantastic comment !!! ***Simply jumper pins 30 and 87 together*** Thank you for that, that makes far more sense. Might have a go later. UK BP was the source of info, though they did say that in Devon even SuperUnleaded may have ethanol as well. I'm presuming BP mean that if you start with a Kg of petrol and a percentage of it's components evaporates that will leave a heavier concentrate going through the engine in relation to the air mass.

      Why would it affect your fuel pump? the fuel pump runs constantly while you drive the car. Bit harsh on the ignition barrel I’d agree, but I later showed a video where you can jump the relay to keep the pump running on it's own.

    Also, what's happening with the LED (fog?) lamps at 14:22? Mini have a seizure? :)
    Seems there's some interference being picked up by the leds from neighbouring circuits.

    I'm in the odd situation where I've done all of this, but one lobe of the fuel tank is half full, and one is empty. Deeply confused as to why - I think the siphon pump isn't working or the line is blocked somehow.

      Do you mean on the Nissan X Trail or a MINI please. I know the Xtrail has a saddle tank and a pump that pumps between the two sides. Wasn't aware of that on the MINI as of yet. Not taken the MINI tank off yet but will do at some point.

    • @Strike86
      @Strike86 2 роки тому

      @@CoatsandGaiters I mean on a Mini. My 1.6 Cooper has a saddle tank and either an equalising pump or some other setup that levels between the two lobes.
      In the end I just removed the fuel level sender and manually siphoned all the fuel out of the other lobe.

      @CoatsandGaiters  2 роки тому +1

      @@Strike86 I've just been looking into this and your quite right there does appear to be a saddle tank with a pump in one side. Mentions if syphoning mechanism is faulty, drain left lobe via filler neck and drain right lobe by removing sender cover and pumping directly.
