- "These animals are so incredible and so entertaining that they make our most extraordinary science fiction seem dull in comparison." - Craig Foster.
For the past 6 years, Craig has swum in the cold Atlantic Ocean (without a wetsuit), every day. The kelp forest has completely transformed his life.

so true - "we have a global, traumatised species". thank you team. each story speaks to the heart.
We need to move back in touch with nature.
@Sailing Sam - YES, we totally agree. We released another film earlier this year, which speaks to this topic, called 'Re(Connect)'- if you haven't seen it, enjoy :)

That kelp forest, he's in his element out there. Lovely ❤
My aching heart cries out for this, so I walk outside when I can. This channel is inspirational. Thank you.
I too loved the movie “My Octopus Teacher”, one of the most moving films I have watched. I enjoyed this film, thank you again for making them.
💚
IT WAS SO AMAZING
Watching this video and then reading the comments tells me that there are waves of human beings who are hungry to reconnect with nature and our non-human family. It is basic to our most elemental drives. If you did this filming yourself, and I assume you did, this is one you had to get wet or go home. So glad you dived in. As always, the videography and the way you framed the whole episode is masterful. All eight of my arms (two human and six honorary) are waving a grand thank you.
Without fail, with every message that you share, our hearts smile! THANK YOU! 💚
I so agree. We are a traumatized species … not meant to be this way … and you see it before your eyes. Nature has an amazing way of holding the shock of life. Love this. Thank you.
'Holding the shock of life' - I love that. Thanks Grace. xx
A kelp forest how beautiful ❤️
Just hearing you acknowledge that "We are interacting with symbols not the real thing." gives me encouragement to return "home". Thank you
This resonates extremely.
I recently watched Craig Foster's mesmerizingly beautiful film "My Octopus Teacher" and because of that I instantly recognized his voice the moment the narration started - what a pleasant surprise.
A deep thanks to you, Green Renaissance, for bringing us all these inspiring stories!
🌍🌏🌎❤️
@Anna R. - OH YES - isn't 'My Octopus Teacher' so deeply moving. And you will have recognised some of the same shots from this film that we shared with Craig for his Netflix film :)
@@ReflectionsofLife Yes, some of the shots looked very familiar indeed! Craig's film was one of the most captivating and moving films I've seen in a long while and I think it will stick with me for a long time. So it's extra special to know that some of the shots came from you! Thanks for letting me know. :)
I only recently discovered your channel and I love the stories all of you share and the way you film them. This one in particular resonated deeply. Thanks for all the work you do!
The title didn’t give it away? Lol.
@@anti-ethniccleansing465 The title was a different one back when I commented and actually got changed since 😉
❤❤❤wow man , your octopus .... so beautiful .... I also cried when she died . What an intelligent animal ... I even think she really liked you . How beautiful was that last physical contact with her and how beautiful was your concern and sorrow for her death , I felt the same way . Thank you for this wonderful documentary about this fantastic creature
These vidros give me so much inspiration.❤
Craig Foster !! Few weeks ago I watched his film.. His passion for nature, especially with Octopus, was amazing.. His patience connecting with Octopus brought him a fruitful results.. How he winned Octopus's trust, was incredible.. Lovely ❤️❤️
Couldn't agree more - Craig is an incredibly passionate man, he is teaching all of us to reconnect with Nature.
The kelp forest is beautiful 😍🤗
What a magical environment...
Thanks so much - so glad you loved the film. We are incredibly lucky to live next to this underwater wonderland.
The best p[art of finding your channel so recently is I have so many wonderful films to watch. These films and sewing have been my saviour this year. God bless you. X
@Cordelia - :) 💚
That's lovely. Did you make many things sewing ? what a great skill to have.
This man is absolutely amazing a gift to us... i am loving my planet and our ecosystem more and more.
💚
This hit me way deeper than I expected...there's great truth and wisdom in his words.
Thank you - to watch his longer film search for - My Octopus Teacher on Netflix - you will love it.
@@ReflectionsofLife thank you. I will make sure to see that.
I can’t thank you enough for your highly beneficial work. It has made such a positive impact in my difficult life. Despite the massive challenges ahead I’m decided to leave everything behind and turn to mother nature in search of a real, meaningful existence. Thanks for your inspiration!
@Andrés Fernández - THANK YOU for seeing the value in the sharing of these personal stories. We hope that you find the healing and comfort for which you are seeking. Much love to you x
So many facets of urban "civilized" life are so phony that we need nature, we need to reconnect, grasp nature to regain our grounding, to return to balance and harmony.
I am so grateful that in my life I am surrounded by animals and plants that keep me grounded and who are here for me to return to when I lose myself.
Thank you
You are truly blessed! Don't ever take those connection for granted. x
Oh how I long to feel truly alive again, Bless you for this channel~
@Terrie Stapley - Thank you for joining us on this journey x
This mans work changed my life
He, and his story, have influenced so many - and we are grateful for what he has shared.
Justine and Michael 💚
you gave us a gift by unearthing the gift you discovered for yourself - the underwater wild of
the kelp forest and its amazing inhabitants take you into a mystic world-
Thanks Gale, for having such deep appreciation for his story and the sharing of his experience 💚
i cannot even tell you how many times i have watched (and cried) "my octopus teacher". why has this magnificent story never been released on DVD???
So glad that you have enjoyed watching 'My Octopus Teacher' - such an incredible documentary. I'm not sure why it hasn't been released on DVD - as far as I know, it is only available to be seen on Netflix. Sending you warm hugs. Justine and Michael x
I did a big write up about "My Octopus Teacher" on our netflix page & i was encouraged to see just how many people in Australia decided to watch it & each one commented how it made them feel & what they got out of it, hope in HumanKIND restored. We were in lock down, a lock down we have only recently come out of but while everyone was angry about being isolated, i was in my element. Like Craig, i have become disconnected from my own species & traumatised & i only connect & relate to "Creature Teachers" now. I think people around me are discombobulated & out of sync but The Natural world Masters Yin & Yang & The Tao of life effortlessly so i feel safe in their company. Craig i totally related too & that Octopus, geez i cried like a sobbing child when it past away but clearly her final dance in the kelp was a celebration of her Ascension to come, her gratitude to her human for his friendship & i was happy for her in the end because she passed the school of life with flying colors & Craig came home to himself, all very encouraging, i hope Craig makes more documentaries. I Love This Channel 🥰🙏
Oh YES - 'My Octopus Teacher' is a remarkable story, beautifully told, by a man with a huge heart. We're glad that you found this story, and that it prompted you to share your thoughts on his documentary here with us. Sending you love. Justine and Michael 💚
Thank you for letting me see nature, under the sea, the field and the mountains and how people enjoy them. There"s none of these in my city. I hooe to walk their walk and swim their swim someday. God bless!
Our pleasure! We really do live in a beautiful world above and under the water. Thanks again for watching so many of these little films.
The octopus man...yr doco was truly amazing and im glad to see u on here so i can tell u so...yr insight and experience into her oceanic world is something most of us will never know, but through u we are able to glean yr thoughts, sights and emotions...thank u so much fot sharing yr unique yet wondrous perspective, bless u and yr son and her as well, i will never view octopi the same ever again thanks to u, arohanui ❤🥰🔥💎😇💛💚🧡🙏🌈🌞
@Emma Afa - We're so glad that you enjoyed Craig's documentary. It is incredibly moving...
Recently seen that film. Wonderful to this guy’s story. Thank you for sharing!
Favourite video by far. I am a "wild water" - baby (too) and his experience of how the ocean connects him with something ancient within humanity.....and the cinematography..... grabbed my soul like nothing else has had in a long time. Loved it. Soooo greatfull the algorithm has brought me the gift of these videos. Will defenately become a patron once I can figure put how to do it from Zambia, Africa. ✌🏾
@S R - Your beautiful words of support mean so much more to us than any financial contribution ever could. We're just glad that your heart finds resonance with these films. Stay here with us friend, for much more to come. Justine 💚
Same, makes me feel so relaxed, like I’m there too.did some snorkeling in Rarotonga and it was such a great feeling being in a under water world with the fish ,like another world ..beautiful!
I keep watching this video over and over again- It's struck such a deep chord. This is in fact the most pressing issue of our times. Our perceived separation from nature is at the heart of nearly all our Ills. Once articulated it becomes so obvious. We are living in a fantasy world, while the real reason we are here beckons us on.
Please keep making videos, the world needs people who spread enlightening ideas, deliberate and consistent reminders can create lasting positive net change.
@DMZ - I love how you have said that, and we couldn't agree more. Craig, who is featured in this short film, recently released his own documentary called 'My Octopus Teacher'. It is available on Netflix. If you have not yet seen it, please try to make a plan to do so. It will take your breath away! And keep tuned in here with us too... we've still got so many more stories to share. Hugs, Justine x
@@ReflectionsofLife The stunning "My Octopus Teacher" is what led me here. I live in San Diego, and for the past few months I had this urge to go swimming in the Pacific ocean, even when the waters are cold. Then I saw the documentary and immediately recognized what Craig was doing and talking about. All of a sudden, I understood why I was going out swimming. Unknowingly, yet intuitively I knew that immersion in Wild like the ocean is medicine for the mind, body and spirit. I have a feeling that many of the millions who have seen or yet to see will recognize this in their own way as well. And it will bring them to search for others who understand this universal truth. The same way it brought me here. ~ Dan Z
@DMZ - Beautiful, I am at a loss for words. 💚
So true...
Beautiful! A touching mowie it is. So glad to come upon this video about it and this inspireing man. We hav a lot to learn from him.
Absolutely Christine, he is such an inspiring man. If you have Netflix try watch My Octopus teacher, it won the Oscar this year and Craig was the main character.
Thank you so much! Now I understand why I needed snorkeling so much - coming home !
@Casa Milagro - Glad you enjoyed it. If you have Netflix, you should look for a film that Craig (the man featured in this film) recently made himself called 'My Octopus Teacher' - it's INCREDIBLE!!!!!
@@ReflectionsofLife Is there another way to see the movie, don´t have Netflix......and any idea for youth and children?
@@casamilagro7137 Unfortunately its only on Netflix.

Love this. Thank you
Powerful, such gorgeous images! Thank you for this gift!!!
the Octopus Teacher is a Love story ...for the World...thank you for passing along what you feel and have learned...I have always felt only truly at home in Nature..."when you look into the eyes of an Octopus "....really hit home..because I have..and the Octopus spoke viscerally to me..what was conveyed was validation...to what I know and feel and have always known and have always felt...🐙
Such beautiful words of appreciation and true understanding. Keep shining your light brightly into this world, and inspiring those around you to see the true beauty of our natural world. We send you love. Justine and Michael. 💚
A most excellent video! How do you do that? It is magic : ) Simply beautifully done, with such skill.

What a beautiful film! I just adore the underwater shots, and Craig speaks so much truth about how we need to get back to ourselves again. I see from other comments that your filming was part of a larger documentary "My Octopus Teacher" so I'm going to try to find that to watch. Thanks so much for sharing this! :)
It is on Netflix - I m sure you will love this film. Thanks for the comment.

Wow he is eloquent on the subject..
I am a total fan of this channel.
And now I want to be completely silly:
Script reads;
Octopus’ mans Wife:
“ Well, YOU never have Time for ME anymore!!
I’m wearing a new dress-
You HAVE’NT even noticed!!!! Don’t you LOVE me Anymore???”
Octopus man, “ it’s like you’re in a steel cage, protecting yourself from the trauma, of the disconnection of your REAL self...”
Wife: “ Well, WHAT does THAT mean?!!
Perhaps if I Wrapped myself in KELP, you’d NOTICE me???!!!
Or if the Sound of the Ocean came out of MY mouth, you’d FEEL something??!!!”
Octopus man, “ Yes, you are getting the idea.
Be CONNECTED to the Wild. “
Wife: “I want to be connected to YOU! “
Oct. Man, “ Well-
ahemm... there is a lovely SEAL Outfit you could put on?? Better than ANY SCI-FI!!!”
They were last seen by Search and Rescue
Frog men, treading water, waving their arms about, to signal the S&R Crew, calling for KELP!!!!

We lost a part of our “human being”, nature helps us back to what it means being human and an integral part of nature.
We agree that Nature really is key to helping us reconnect with everything around us.

Hi , who are the film makers and who is the narrator/ diver? Thank you
Hi Lynne. We, the filmmakers, are a small collective of 4 people who live just outside of Cape Town in South Africa. This weekly film series is a passion project of ours which we mostly fund and film in our spare time, along with a bit of support from our patrons on Patreon. We've been doing lots of filming and editing, working hard to keep bringing out a new film every Wednesday - so stay tuned - we've got so many more incredible stories to share in the weeks and months ahead. The diver is a friend of ours called Craig Foster - he does amazing work - see here - seachangeproject.com/
Keep well, and stay in touch :) xx
How can I contact this person, he is so in tune with nature, please, I would like to contact him

Hi! Are you going to translated it?
Thank you for your interest Casiopea. We usually don't translate any of the older videos. Sorry about that. And at the time we did not have anyone that was able to assist us with translations, we rely on volunteers. Warm wishes, Justine and Michael. 💚

Hi
It's lovely that he swims around all day.
Let's hear the full story rather than the version where he lectures and judges other people's lives and decides everyone else is traumatized in mainstream life.
Let's hear how he funds this and if or how he lives without products and services created hard working traumatized people ?
Did he work in main stream for years and possibly contribute to traumatizing others ?
Come on now please. A more complete balanced picture would be fairer to people.
If he truly wants to help people let's hear how he created the situation and how he lives.
@Sow AG - You ask valuable questions. Given that these little stories of ours are filmed in a day, and edited in two days, we can't share it all - we can't address all the details of someones life. These are aimed at providing a small dose of inspiration for someone who finds themselves on a similar journey to the character, or with similar thoughts and ideas - to feel a sense of connection. To address all the types of questions that you are asking, we'd need to produce full length documentaries on each person - and that's just not what we're about :) To hear more on Craig's personal story, you might want to watch 'My Octopus Teacher' on Netflix. Good wishes to you x
a more complete and honest view would be just so meaningful.
@Sow AG - Craig is a documentary filmmaker. For 'The Great Dance' - he lived for three years in the desert with the San Bushmen tribe in order to document their culture, traditions and beliefs. In 'My Octopus Teacher' he elaborates a lot more about why he chose to swim in the ocean every day, what drove him to do this, what he learnt . I think that through the watching of these two stories, you might find that you learn more about how he thinks and feels. If you prefer, I could put you directly in touch with Craig to answer some of your questions you might have - just let me know :)
Hi
to do this it would seem that he would need to use quite some amount of modern world services and products. Planes cars fuel cameras, im guessing the list is endless.
it just seems out of balance with the philosophy that he speaks of.
@@Onlinesully Watch his film before judging his ways.
By using the camera he could share his incredible beautiful story with all of us!
By the way, he didn’t need planes, cars and stuff like that. He just walked from his house near the sea, on to the beach, into the water...
And there he filmed what he saw. You could have known this by watching his film. But is seems you don’t really want to know about him and how he did this.
Take some effort.
