I have made DIY canister filter with a 4 inch PVC pipe... I have attached a PVC shower head on the water outlet and it is just 1/2 inch above the water surface. Due to the shower head the water gets spread in 4 square inch creates good surface agitation. I no longer use noisy oxygen pumps. It is quiet, oxygenates water and filters effectively

You can use algae wafers or food specific for plecos, check the water temperature, for fish only aquariums it should be 26 to 28 degree celsius

You need a good filter with good bio media too, Daily 10% water change is suggested and weekly 50%

It starts becoming ammonia as soon as it comes out of the fish, best is to remove waste on a regular basis

Yes can be kept, if you have a fairly big tank and also enough hiding space for the ghost, but the best thing is to keep them seprate
