In this video I talk about my small scale sheep rotational grazing system. I am regenerative farming sheep on small acreage (23 acres of pasture). In this video I talk about my watering system, my electric fencing, my perimeter fencing, shade structures for sheep, and how I move them over the pasture during summer.
At Harmony farms, we small small scale regenerative farm sheep, chickens, and beef with an emphasis on soil health. Our animals are raised to produce a gourmet grass fed beef and lamb product.

Came across your video on the big sell off of cattle. I have a small farm/ranch in St Hedwig, TX where we had been raising quarter horses but found that to be a money pit. The drought has hit us severally also as I did not have a first cutting of hay and the second looks like a bust Also due to no rain. All of your info on raising Doffers has caught my interest. I enjoy your detail on what to look for, costs etc. I’m hook on your blog. Keep up the good work. God bless

Do your sheep lamb in the field or do you house them until lambing is finished and the weather is more suitable?

you are doing such a great job! really love the bible verses you put at the end of your videos - also how do you keep your sheep in with only one strand!!! we also have dorpers here in tassie and i am trying to do rotational grazing (inspired mostly by you) but three strands of wire is barely even enough to keep them in!
23rd Psalm,…lay down in green pastures. Why? The sheep are full! Love watching the sheep run through the gate to fresh pastures. Greg Judy’s cattle do the same. Claim the fresh feed.
Watching them run is one of the best parts!
Your pasture and more importantly your flock look great. All your hard work is paying off. Are you using the chickens to be a follow up crop and disperse the sheep droppings? Keep on doing what your doing as it is paying off. As always thanks for posting

@@theShepherdess Thank you for that info. Before and after, wow so you have 3 crops from one field. Outstanding no wonder the grass looks so good. Especially when you compared it to the field next door which looked a bit sad and lacking.
How much was your vehicle ? Did you include the cost of this in your business plan ?

We are picking up lambs for our first time in March, i have been watching your stuff on grazing and parasites, that is my only concern. With five acres and four sheep to start with what paddock sizes would you suggest for a weeks worth of grass? I’m also growing pasture it is currently just grass and I’ll rotational graze with pigs following. Thank you! We are going strictly non gmo if hay is needed.
I would let them have a full acre for the one week. It will be more grass than they can eat, but it will keep an even graze across your land and spread out the parasite load. 👍🏻

That is not welded wire fencing you have. It is woven wire field fencing.
Good call, thank you! Also a note for anyone watching, woven wire is less expensive than welded wire, so be sure to keep this in mind when installing your fencing for sheep.

@@theShepherdess I think a enclosed trailer would be very beneficial for you. You could have the battery and fence electric box inside. Plus you could have a ibc tote for water. Drill hole in the side and run a hose out to fill water for the flock. Keeps it cooler and out of the sun for algae to grow. Then you could mount your portable shade structures to the side of the trailer when you moved to the next spot. Just a thought
could this same concept be ran on 4.5 acres?
Absolutely! I actually started this system with just 5 sheep on about 2.5 acres before I had the larger flock.

@@theShepherdess that’s what I want to do! I’ve been listening to a lot of Greg Judy and Joel, and now you! I’m actually north of tampa, so seeing your channel gives me hope! I want to start small with quality stock and build a herd! I’ve never ate sheep tho!
