Been RV'ing for years. Use RV/MARINE TOILET PAPER (do not use regular toilet paper) and, ALWAYS use a toilet chemical that breaks down the paper and solids. And, when you're at a full hookup camp site, DO NOT leave the Black Tank valve open. Let the tank get filled (2 or 3 or 4 days), then open 'er up and dump it.
Cool idea. Same thing Happened to us once. I found an accordion plunger at the local ace hardware, couple plunges sent every thing thru nicely. I’m gonna build one of these do dads to have on hand.

I got mine in a few days ago. Hooked it up yesterday and started trying to get the tank unclogged. I went through a couple dozen cycles and while it hasn't completely unclogged the black tank, it has certainly loosened up the compacted clog and I can see it discharging a little bit each time, which I would prefer over moving one massive clog into a 3 inch discharge pipe clogging that up. So small amounts at a time is good with me until it is completely unclogged.
UPDATE: After working on it off and on (I had to order another one because I broke the first one being stupid) the clog finally cleared!

We don't put any paper in our black tank. A simple plastic bin with a lid on it works great for paper waste. In fact we have a composting toilet in our boat and getting ready to put one in our 40' Wanderlodge.
First time I have saw that set up valve to do that
Very handy device on the day you need it.
I also have a downward facing outlet on my camper, and I bought the Camco unit like this but for some reason the gate handle was turned 90 degrees as opposed to this example. It was unusable because it interfered with the camper. I had to get the Valtera water hose hookup as well as a Valtera gate valve below.
If you give it a twist it should swivel to any position you need?
At $90CDN I guess I was more concerned with finding the reciept, lol. I think the cost ended up about the same anyway. Cheers!@@ktoutdoor
HI I've got a question for you, as my black tank is still clogged, how do you know when you pull the black tank pulley that the gate valve is actually open? I did mine and i opened the gate valve and NOTHING came out but a small trickle down the pipe it is hooked up to the sewer system here; I pull the gate valve pulley and it should go whissh down into the pipe and away into the large holding tank; alas no that did not happen so thank you for any answers

Nasty clog if It in the Black tank
We have the back wash but it won’t work.
We were using the wand to clean the black tank in the toilet n it was all going down then we sprayed the toilet paper that gets stuck right out of the toilet and into the black tank.
The TP came off and clogged the Hole going out of the black tank and the dirty water backed into the toilet n we are trying everything to get it to go down. But it won’t.
We snaked it n that didn’t work either.
There was already downy in it.
So I poured baking soda and lemon n vinegar in it.
It bubbled but after a few hours nothing happened.
So I poured ammonia into it because the stores are closed n it’s late at night and I used all my yeast up before Passover got here.
I also put dawn dish soap in there.
We don’t have a plunger, but heard it might work.
My husband wants to get drano cuz he’s fed up but I already have so much in there I truly don’t want an explosion! LOL
Nor do I want anything getting any more messed up than things are already.
We are going to leave it overnight and see what happens tomorrow.
We are saying prayers.
Our worst problem is this happened on our sabbath. Grrrrrrrr!

From experience, don't start doing this and let a neighbor distract you. Not only does it create a mess (toilet volcano?) but in my case, it flooded the basement and therefore flooded my inverter/charger which then caused a cascade of 12v appliances to quit until I connected an external 12v source to the house battery while the new charger was being shipped to me. No bueno...

what happen if gery valve does not close ?
