- Highlights of the FINAL bout between Japan and Korea in the Men's Team Sabre Fencing Event at the Seoul 2022 Asian Championships
Korea is the reigning Olympic Champion from both London 2012 and Tokyo 2021 Olympics. Going into this bout, Korea had won 2 of the 3 Team Sabre World Cups of the 2021 to 2022 season - at Tbilisi and Madrid. Korea is also the reigning World Champion from 2017, 2018, and 2019. Finally, Korea is both reigning Asian Champion and Asian Games Champion.
Japan is not one of the big players in the Men's Team Sabre world circuit. The second strongest player in the Asia Zone is usually Iran. Japan has not defeated Korea in recent memory, but Japan does have a relatively large amount of funding for its fencing programme with strong sabre fencers in the women's sabre team like the current World no. 3, EMURA Misaki; along with strong epee and foil programmes - the Japanese Men's Epee team are reigning Olympic Champions from Tokyo 2021, while the Japanese Men's and Women's foil teams medal from time to time.

kinda find typo in your description.
"Japanese Men's Sabre team are reigning Olympic Champions from Tokyo 2021". should be epee. nice description overall though
You got me, nice thank you
Anyone else think Oh is a bit slower than usual?
i noticed that too
probably saving energy for individual event or just trying to wait for his opponent to make the action first
I watched team event the whole day, I think he was just recovering from his twist ankle in QF so maybe that's why he looked slower. But yeah, during the individual event, either his teammates are faster than him or he look a little bit slower than usual. (p/s: individual event happen before the team event)
