On "My Car Story" we're in the West Suburbs of Chicago IL on 9-8-23.
We're looking at a 1936 Auburn 852 Supercharged Cabriolet in Blue Paint. The car comes with the a 280 CI supercharged straight 8 engine and an 3 Speed manual transmission.
The car's Owner is Mark Spandikow. Mark’s had this car since 2018. He shares his read that a supercharged Auburn would be a good investment so he found one in pieces. He restored it and this one looks showroom new.
ENJOY!

What a splendid automobile. Beautiful restoration; the attention to detail on the dash is fantastic and is not seen on cars of today.
Happy to read "What a splendid automobile" :-)
What a gorgeous and stately car for two gentlemen such as you and Mr. Spandikow to enjoy. And with the supercharger, you can arrive as early as you'd like for any of the activities of the day. Thanks, Lou!
Hi The Gunfighter45acp, "What a gorgeous and stately car" Well said. My pleasure sharing this car with you. You're welcome, Lou
Beautiful Auburn - impressive attention to detail!
Very cool.

Hi Jeff, "impressive attention to detail! " Well said. My pleasure sharing this car with you. You're welcome, Lou
A beauty of an automobile. Looking over the whole car, just shows you what could be engineered and manufactured in excellence in 1936. Absolutely amazing to me. The self starter mechanism when the engine stalls .... I've never heard of such. This guy did an unheard of job restoring this car too. It looks showroom new. I don't want to think of the job it was finding needed parts.
Hi Tommy, Happy to read "A beauty of an automobile" :-) My pleasure sharing this car with you, Lou
I don’t think it was as hard as people would think. If you belong to the Auburn community they have connections with each other I would imagine some parts have been custom made. What really matters is the $$$

What a pair to have, a convertible and of course the woody. I just came back from a 3 day visit to the Auburn/Cord/Duesenberg Museum. What works of art those cars are.
Hi Simkins Frank, I agree, a great pair of cars. Happy to read you had a fun time at that museum, Lou
Thanks…. Interestingly, we just moved from WARSAW INDIANA , hitting the Studebaker , INDY -500 , HENRY Ford Museum ps, ETC!! : in the years , however misseDd ACD, & regrets in Auburn …….Anyways, there is some Car/ Museum/ Culture here in MONTANA….too,
Wow aren’t you lucky. That’s not just A car that is a rolling piece of artwork in motion. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
High praise.
Love the Auburn!!!!!!!!!
NICE!
Thank you, Mark! You are an artist.👍
High praise.
Superb restoration of this classic car, my favorite brand. I like the earlier cars with the pin-striping from 29 but this is a better car technologically and driveable.
The script like much of the car has Art Deco styling. The engine is a monster - what a job he did on the engine compartment. The instrument panel is just art. The only item on my bucket list I don't have checked off.
Congrats to the master auto archaeologist owner and thanks for the guided tour Lou !
Hi Alex, Happy to read you appreciate the "Superb restoration of this classic car, my favorite brand" :-) My pleasure sharing this car with you. You're welcome, Lou
That must have been a very fun ride, Lou. This incredible Auburn has it all; timeless styling, excellent build quality, and power. Love the pipes and "Supercharged" on fenders and the paint is wonderful. Thank you so much for this, very special.
Hi Bruce H., Oh yes, a fun ride :-) Happy to be able to share it with you. You're welcome.
Lou you lucky dog what a beautiful Auburn never knew that about the headlights!
Hi Brian, Happy to share the details with you :-) Lou
I feel "upper crust" today! Thanks Lou!
You're welcome Robs Big Tent Revival!
Absolutely stunning!! Can you imagine the kind of high-roller you would have to have been to be sporting around with this car in 1936?
High praise.
Auburn's and Cord's are my all time fave cars... Thanks Lou !
Happy to read this one is a favorite of yours :-) You're welcome Keep America 2A Strong
What a beautiful beautiful automobile…rolling art
High praise.
That is one bad-ass convertible Auburn!. Thanks for the video Lou.
NICE! You're welcome Brian.
Such a pretty car - love the color combination with the interior. The Auburn stylists had a great eye! Lycoming built engines for many car brands - aircraft too!

What a cool car he puck a nice route to take it for a cruise got a nice garage to work on it total cass ride
Hi Larry, Happy to share this "cool car" with you :-)
I think you had already presented this model in a previous video. All in all, this 1936 Auburn 852 Supercharged with that combination of dark blue and light brown roof will delight everyone who sees it pass by! You're right, seen from the front it appears to be in the shape of a large blue heart; along with its beautiful and large grille and chrome headlights (special mention for the beautiful ornament in the shape of a winged woman on top of the hood). Very interesting about the exterior folding seat where the trunk would go; although, yes, it has little legroom. A nice interior and upholstery; from its suicide-type doors, to its chrome instrument panel in "art deco" style (I don't know, but the feathers on those dials remind me a little of those of certain instruments on steam trains, hehe). Lastly, I loved the relaxing walk through those places and streets; like the little tunnel under the train tracks! Congratulations to Mr. Spandicow, for owning, and assembling, this classic! And to you, Lou, for the great shots you always get; like the last one, where you made a final close-up of the rear guide lit up with the Aurburn logo!
Hi Jaime, You're right, the "Woody" version of this car was shared before. Glad to read the details you enjoy, and nice to have you along for the ride, Lou.
LOVE ❤️…THE END 😁
:-)
Very interesting and a beautiful machine. Thanks
You're welcome Rich.
Magnificent Lou, Magnificent.
High praise Audie :-)
This is very beautiful looking car!
Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-)
Are those modern gauges? I can't believe even a supercharged Auburn would have a 120 MPH speedometer. What a beautiful car. He really did a super job on this car.
Seems to be original gauges Bill. Happy to read "What a beautiful car. He really did a super job on this car." :-)
Gorgeous car!
Happy to read "Gorgeous car!" :-)
Thanks for the ride * Overall a spectacular beauty * That dash is a fine piece of jewelry. . . :>/
Happy to share this "Overall a spectacular beauty" with you. You're welcome Dr. Candor.
Absolutely stunning car
High praise.
That explains why the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Museum has a Crosley Hot Shot in their collection.
Thank you for sharing.
This is a classic car with an emphasis on “class”. The 1930s was a golden age for American automotive manufactures which is epitomize in this design. The Auburn emblem noted on this video as best as I can tell, first appeared with the Auburn Beauty-SIX in 1919. The lettering including the stylized “U” letter were mostly likely influenced by the Arts and Crafts fonts of the early 20th Century.

Juan, Happy to share this "beautiful car" with you :-) You're welcome.
Once again I've learned something... didn't know Lycoming made a straight Eight. I knew about the six and I had a chance to turn wrenches on a Supercharged Cord V-8 . I was pleasantly surprised to find that the V-8 had a roller cam....I'd love to see the inside of that super eight.
Thanx again.
Hi Gods own Drunk, Happy to read you learned something from the video :-) I'm learning all the time from the Caretakers. You're welcome, Lou
Beautiful car Lou! Remember, most of these ritzy car companies held monopolies and patents. Meaning no one could build their own car or start a car company without paying royalties.
Henry Ford changed all that by going to the Supreme Court.
Go Detroit Lions! 😀👍
Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car Cobra Charmer!
