Wow , that's a great project restoration and the both Volkswagen Beetle from Corgi Toys are looking awesome . Fantastic work at finishing parts and painting and after that the cars are looking amazing and like brand new . Mulțumesc mult prietene pentru postare și weekend frumos !🎩👌🏻🤝🏻👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🏆🏅
nicely done, love the colours. and the filled holes look good. this kind of work is a test to anyone's patience. :) it's not just a hole, the rooftop is also curved, too. personally I'd say the (former) red casting is older. reasons: there are little oval gratings below the headlights. together with rounded bumpers and small taillights this would make it a 1967 model. the green model has bigger taillights, gratings omitted, and rectangular, big, bumpers, which would make it a model after 1968, the year they put out these big bumpers. additionally the suspension wires were removed for cheaper production, and the extra holes for the rooftop payload as well. while reworking the roof they unfortunately ruined the windscreen shape... beetles were never easy to reproduce as models. everything is rounded like eggs. XD
Great restorations! Both of these cars have the holes and sticker as fitted by Corgi. The red version is the earlier Husky casting adapted by Corgi to fit on the then new Whizzwheels chassis. This was a transition model. The three holes held a roof rack with luggage. The green version is the later casting, updated to carry the headlights. The hole was for a blue beacon that was carried on the white, police version. The sticker is a Corgi classic that appeared on a number of castings, including their 1:43 versions. On this Beetle, it simply and cost effectively adapted a casting. The green version was in the range throughout the 70s and I have two of them from my childhood.
As far as I know these are custings taken over from husky's and saving money in the production they kept them like this and put stickers to cover the holes
