- Spiderleg has made terrible choices as a father to Daisy's kits. Are his actions redeemable?

Aside from the topic of Spiderleg, this week, Shattered Sky, the third book in the A Vision of Shadows story arc, released. I have to say that it is FANTASTIC! It is probably one of the best books in the entire series. If you want my thoughts on anything specific, feel free to ask. Just be sure to include a spoiler alert. - Розваги

I agree with what you said in this video. I theorize that part of his difficulty displaying his emotions was because he was kits of Ferncloud and Dustpelt. They had so many litters of kits together, and even had Larchkit, Hollykit, and Birchfall while he was still an apprentice. After they were born, he was probably overshadowed will still in his youth. Lack of this love later in life probably did not have a positive impact on him and how he expressed his feelings towards Daisy and his kits.

It's a good theory, however, I think the main reason lies in Spiderleg's past with his parents. I'm not sure about him as a kit but in the second theory he is Spiderpaw with his brother Shrewpaw. During the course of the books, we don't look into their lives a lot because of how minor their characters are but it's pretty obvious Ferncloud and Dustpelt are only focused on Larkkit, Birchkit and Hollykit. Spiderleg and Shrewpaw were fairly young apprentices so their parents had a second litter quickly after the toms left the nursey. Spiderleg probably felt replaced by the new litter espically since Ferncloud never appears as nurturing toward her oldest litter. Even when Shrewpaw dies, she is shown griving but Dustpelt isn't (that I remember) and she is never shown with concern regarding Spiderleg who just lost his littermate and two younger siblings. Anyone could argue Ferncloud knew Spiderleg was older and could take care of himself while Birchkit was helpless but this is more about Spiderleg's feelings not Ferncloud's reasoning. Spiderleg was griving all alone, not to mention this was all when his home was destroyed and they were moving. Birchkit barly knew Thunderclan's home because he was a baby but Spiderleg was raised there so moving would be more tramatic to him. I'm not saying Spiderleg's past is an exuse but it's more of a cause for himself becoming a neglectful father.

Yes.
Skystar was terrible to Thunderstar, but the other kits he had with Star Flower and his adopted son from WindClan, Honey Pelt, got great treatment from him. It was only one instance that he learned his mistake from.

There is no evidence of this.
Spiderleg only appears as a kit during Firestar's Quest. In that book, we only see him treated as a normal kit. There is no neglecting at all.
Eh, makes sense. I'm getting to that book soon, I'm just listening to the fandom, also out of topic, I get ticked off when they say all clans battle. That happened before in fire and ice.

I had the idea of a sequel to Bramblestar's Storm before I realized A Vision of Shadows was a thing. Spiderleg would still be alive, and he'd fall in love with Daisy (for real) and have a second litter of kits, being a much better father.

I've never actually really thought that Spiderleg was a bad father. I've always thought that Clear Sky was a bad father to Thunder, and Crowfeather was a bad father to Breezepelt...And Hollyleaf... And Lionblaze... And Jayfeather...
And Stormtail's a bad father too, for ignoring his kits and mate and being at the edge point of having kits with Dappletail (I think that's her name) when his kits are only apprentices (Or kits) with his mate dead.
Btw I love your cat. He/She looks so fluffy >0> (I was also reading the comments, and how people are saying, "RaInFlOwErs The WRosT motHeR" (Sorry if I seem rude) when I think Lizardstripe is. She neglected her own kits, and Brokenkit. Rainflower only did that to one, and I heard they made up in Starclan, anyway)
Pine Needle I agree with you because Lizardstripe encouraged her kits to abuse Brokenkit.
Stormtail didn’t neglect his kits, he just felt awkward near them at first. We see him interact with Bluestar after Snowfur dies and in Spottedleaf’s Heart. I also doubt he and Dappletail were mates, since Dappletail already had an unknown mate while he was still alive.
Lizardstripe is terrible, and I feel like she doesn’t get enough hate in this fandom. She physically abused and neglected Brokenstar when he was a kit, and insulted her own kits. She and Tom deserve more hate because I barely see anyone hate on them.
We can all agree the worst Warrior Cats mother is ...*Rainflower*...

(I think her pregnancy was an accident while having fun with someone :] if u know what I mean...) but Rainflower loved Crookestar before he broke his jaw and she still loved Oakheart and that's why Lizardstripe is a much worse mother than Rainflower

There are plenty of older cats in ThunderClan still alive as warriors. Thornclaw, Brackenfur, Cloudtail, Brightheart, etc.

Great to see some people actually appreciate Spiderleg. He's one of my favourites when it comes to minor characters (Though I suppose that isn't saying much since I say that for a lot of characters XD) I won't deny Spiderleg was a bad parent but I love him and I agree that his relationship with Amberpaw was fantastic.
Also, I just noticed the *Alliances* (4:26) ..... I'm dead.... Berrystumpytail.... Cinderheart - grey tabby she-cat with might still have identity issues... Glorious ;D
I always loved Spiderleg...well until he met Daisy that is....I mean...I loved him because he was the only kit that survived and I hoped to god he wouldn't die every time I saw him...and he was such a awesome kit!

I can actually relate to Spiderleg. I'm not really interested in having children either. Sure, he was rejected as an apprentice, not because he's useless and clumsy like he said in Long Shadows, but I too feel useless and clumsy around little kids. Also, I heard that Spiderleg feels bad about his actions toward Daisy and their his kits, but doesn't know how to make it up to them. That's me when I have an attitude toward people. Most of the time. Also, I know my parents would never reject me. They love me and my sisters equally, and I'm okay with that.
Crowfeather was worst
He made Breezepelt evil when your Step Bro aunt complement you and not your own father, plus when Jayfeather was accused to kill Flametail by Dawnpelt and Crowfeather did not even care, but Brambleclaw who is not even his real father cares more.

I don't really like warrior cat fact videos because the people creating them never say where they got the facts from. As far as I can tell, this is just a fan theory.

In my opinion, i feel like Spiderleg wanted someone to love, but there wasn't many she-cats who wanted or didn't have a mate old enough for him, except Daisy. She knew that her original mate Smoky didn't love her as much as Floss and was longing for someone that loved her as much as she loved him. Spiderleg loved Daisy, but he didn't think she would bare his kits. He just wasn't ready yet to be a father. With the lack of Dustpelt's affection, how would he know how to father kits he didn't even mean to have? If he lived longer, he would've tried give attention to Daisy and Rosepetal. But, atleast he can talk to Toadstep in StarClan
Welp I think StormTail is an awful father.
It doesn't help that dustpelt seemed to forget about him once ferncloud had more kits . Its dustpelts fault for neglecting him and fussing over birchkit/paw blah blAh blah . If dustpelt was there he would know what it's like to be a father.

When I think of bad fathers, I think of Dustpelt or Greystripe. Dustpelt because of the way he treated his kits, and Graystripe to Blossomfall, Bumblestripe, and Briarlight, he ignores them so much that I've even seen fan fictions of warriors where the writer forgot they were his kits. All and all, I loved Spiderleg, he was a great character and if I could bring back any character, it would be him

my excitement is now below 0% because i was waiting for the warriors books and then my dad told me they are coming next week, aaaaaand i basically broke down right that minute. so now my escitement is on the next week and i will be kind of sad all the time before the books come

I always thought that Spiderleg was a tortoishell tom and knew he was infertile. So when he became mates with Daisy and she had kits he knew it wasn't his and grew to not love her or the kits. I thought the Erin's were actually spicing up the background tbh

I don’t really think that Spiderleg is shy, because he is known for opposing his Clan leader and sharing his thoughts at Clan meetings and Gatherings, and he’s always part of the group that whispers and glares at the leaders
Actually Tigerstar comes to mind when I hear bad father, sure he tried to train his sons but it was so he could try to take over the Forest and do what he failed at. He tried to use his sons to do his bidding
Wait wait is it possible that Spiderleg was like this to daisy because she used to be a kitty pet? I dunno if this could even be possible but what if he was scared of being chased out of ThunderClan with Daisy and the other former Kittypets/rouges. Think about it if Spiderleg was such a loyal warrior to his clan where he was born wouldn't he want to stay and serve his clan for as long and as best as he could. There is also the tension from the other clans that they wanted to chase out the former Kittypets/rouges. If Spiderleg had ever gotten closer to Daisy and his kits he might have believed that he would be called disloyal and chased out with the other "traitors" I dunno this is just a thought.

the main reason he rejected his kits tho was because he was rejected by his own parents. he was part of Dustpelt's and Ferncloud's first litter, and as she continued to have more, he was forgotten by them. they viewed him as more mature than the other litters they had, so they thought that he didn't need care and love anymore. since they never cared for him that much, he didn't know how to care for his own kits. so he neglected them.
Where did you hear this? There is no evidence of Spiderleg feeling rejected in the books.

I wouldn't honestly say he was the worst father. Spiderleg never wanted to have kits because of how Dustpelt and Ferncloud for how many they had and just pushing him aside. Also, he never pushed them away like Crowfeather, nor been mean to them, he would go on patrols with Toadstep and Rosepetal. He never abused them, He just felt he needed to be distantm Another reason is because he probably never wanted kits because he never thought he could have that responsibility.

I never hated Spiderleg. His actions were caused by the fact that, because of all his siblings, his parents often forgot to include him (i don't hate his parents either). He even basically *states* at one point that he doesn't now how to *be* a father correctly!

my personal unliked father is stormtail I know what your going to say there are worst fathers than him like crowfeather but the reason why I dislike him is cuse he doesn't show Much fatherly care for snowfur and bluefur and in the battle with windclan when moonflower is dead and being dragged to camp he doesn't even notice since he's to busy with dappletail it literally said in the book that he never took his eyes off her and instead of grieving for moonflower he's still flirting with dappletail! And even when snowfur does he's the one who moved on quickly he doesn't even show that much grief for snowfur
though he does show effection to bluefur later on

Sandgorse isn't that bad. He just wanted his son to be a tunneler, and was disappointed because he was a moor runner. How is that bad? He gave Tallstar a life. Obviously he loves his son. More than any other of those bad fathers. (Crowfeather, Cleak Sky, Spiderleg, etc.)

It is stated the reason Spiderleg is a bad father is because Dustpelt and Ferncloud after having another litter stopped being close and loving to him.
