@@ROCKETRALPH I am running as stock. For off road just take the rubber off the peg. I am a strong believer that serious off road on a 209kg dry adv it is not for me. Easy off road is my cuppa. Enjoy your trip. I was back in the days in the Pyrenees on my bike. Awesome scenery!
Absolutely love the video mate , makes me want to get out even more , in the process of rebuilding my first adventure bike Bmw f650gs , keep up the great work 👍
The problem riding with someone is that they need to have a similar appetite for risk off-road, have to be roughly the same skill level on and off-road, and have a similar travel style. The odds of all that being about what it needs to be for compatibility are very low.

Hey Ralph, I also own a 990@, and I made a ABS Kill-Button. Just split one of the strings of the rear ABS line somewhere by the upper pivot of the shock, guide that whire to a on/off Pushbutton positioned at the handlebar and connect it again on the cutted whire. When pushed, the red ABS warning light will permanently be on, even when you stopped the engine. To aktivate, push the button once more, kill the engine and ABS is on again. Nevertheless, I ride mainly with ABS on also on gravel, only when it gets gnarly , I push the button.
Aww that’s brilliant thank you! I so inconvenient to have to turn it off each time you stop the engine. That will definitely be next on my mid list to do thank you!
I ride solo 80% of the time. I have never ridden with more than 1 other rider. I was on the ferry recently from Cairnryan to Belfast and boarded along with 10 other bikers who were doing a tour of the southern Wild Atlantic Way which I have also done solo. I didn't envy them one bit in fact it's my worst nightmare to ride in a group. Now go and ride the Wild Atlantic Way solo, you will love it and meet people that you never would riding in a group.
Seems to be a trend I’m seeing in the comments that a lot of people prefer solo! I did really enjoy it and can’t wait to do more! Thanks for watching 🤘🏻

Been thinking doing the same thing as you for months now! I hope I can do it in the near future when the time is right. Thanks for bringing us with you and experienced as a solo.❤️☘️
Mate ive never ever seen your channel till now and browsing thro your previous vids it seems this format is clearly working just by the figures alone. Really enjoyed it. also thanks for putting the GPX file up too shall be putting that into my calimoto
Ralph, awesome movie, loved it ! Also found it quite inspirational (I too am always waiting for buddies to be available). I haven't read all the comments so I'm not sure if anyone already mentioned this but I have a solution for the ABS that might suit you too although I don't know if MOT allows this. I have a 2010 990 Adventure and I have disconnected the rear brake permanently from ABS. All you need is a brake line for a non-ABS 950/990 Adv and two M10x1.25 (IIRC) plugs. You remove the two brake lines and replace them with a direct line between master brake cylinder and rear brake. You use the two plugs to plug the connectors at the ABS unit and you're done. No fault messages, no buttons to press, you now simply have a bike with ABS perfectly working on the front wheel only. For me this is a perfect solution. I have tested it extensively and it works great. Again, I live in NL and here such a modification is allowed and not subject to something like MOT - not sure if this is allowed where you live. Would love to see more movies from you like this one.
@@ROCKETRALPH absolutely mate, i did 261 miles to Barmouth and back on my yamaha wr125r with my mates last thursday, we did some greenlanes and rode across that foot bridge that we saw in midwests vid 😂👌

Wonderful! I love the scenic views and the path you chose. Cheers for getting out there and exploring on your own! BTW opening the gates seems to me the fun part :D
Great video. Watched the whole thing. I am a newer rider. I have a free weekend in a couple of weeks and have been thinking about doing my first solo adenture ride. This gave me some great inspiration. It was fun to hear your perspective and how much joy this trip brought you. Time to start planning my ride. Thanks!

I’ve only not been a solo adventurer once in my entire life (16 years ago). Hard to even imagine having to consider anyone else when off on an adventure.
You can splice into the rear abs sensor under the seat and put a toggle switch on the dash that will disable your abs. Awesome bit of Adv riding, make me want to come to the UK from Oz for a ride.
what a trip! Dang good video bud and be careful, this ADV thing can get addictive. Man I will be looking forward to the next trip when you "grease all the gates"😂. I know the feeling when you camp somewhere and then you go a little further the next morning and DOH, just a little further would have been so much nicer.
Thanks Dave, I’m afraid it’s too late! I’m fully hooked! I can’t believe the difference a bit of grease can make to a gate 🤣🤣 might carry a tin of spray grease from now on to make all the people behind me have a much better day 🤣🤣 I honestly could not have picked a better spot if I tried than the one I came across that morning! But it was starting to get late and I thought I’d never find a suitable spot so I settled for what I had 🙈🤣 the joys of not planning hey 🤣

@@ROCKETRALPH it’s brilliant, and def think all your work before has given you a foundation for this, good luck with it, I’ll def been looking forward too your next adventure 🙌🏻
I think this is the first of yours I've watched, great story and awesome filming, I had the 950 Adventure a long time ago- I loved that animal 😂, picking out all the small single roads and trails beforehand and following it at your own pace is better than blasting through it trying to keep up with a mate who's skill level is way better than mine, it obviously has its drawbacks too... anyway, loved that... thanks for sharing.
Ahh thanks for watching Steve. I really enjoyed being on my own, which I didn’t think I would! The evening would have been slightly enhanced with some banter but not horrible on your own. Thanks again for watching.
Thanks Mat, I wasn’t sure how it would be received compared to my normal style of video but glad people are enjoying it because it was by far my favourite to create 🤘🏻
@@ROCKETRALPH Really was good to watch felt like it was the first part of a series id start watching, I’m currently on eBay looking for a adventure bike again after selling up my 890 adventure r
Stumbled across your video, very well filmed and edited 👌🏼 I had the 990 adventure R before my 1290 Super Adventure R and despite the power difference and bits of technology I did actually prefer the rawness of the 990, such a great bike. Keep doing these trips, your clearly loving them 👍🏼
Thanks 😊, I do really enjoy the 990 just need to find away so put the ABS on a switch 🤣 I did really enjoy doing this trip and can’t wait to do more 💪🏻
Love this, wheres the location of the well greased gate? Not to just admire the gate but for that potential camping location just passed it 🤣. Would love to do this at some point but dont have the bike capable of 80% of these roads 😅. Looks pretty smooth in that part of the vid though next to the river. I too have always toyed with the idea of a wild camp like this. Often go for random rides on my own but never camped it and i feel that needs to change! 🤣
Awesome video mate 👌 The mighty 990 KTM, they put a lot of more modern ADV bikes to shame. Ive always wanted to try solo camping off of my Africa Twin, but have always found an excuse not to. Definitely gotta give it a crack. Cheers for sharing 🍻
Thanks dude, I was them same wanting to do it for so many years and always put it off but this time I just gave myself that little push to go and couldn’t recommend it more! I enjoyed it so much I was quite upset with myself for leaving it this long before doing it thinking about all the times I could have already been doing it.
this video got recommended by the algorithm to me and i love it, riding an adventure bike is just awesome! one question: is it allowed to set up camp anywhere you want in GB? in Germany ist illegal
Another solo rider here (T7) from NZ, best way to ride in my opinion. Enjoyed your editing style and voiceover, we don't have abandoned castles here so really interested in that. The spot you wanted to camp looked like private farmland , are you allowed to camp there?. I'm a farmer here and that is not allowed without permission, having said that most farmers would be happy to allow it if asked nicely and probably have a yarn as well.
I wish I’d spent a bit more time there and took some more shots of the castle 🏰 I think you are right that does look like farm land. You would be allowed with permission that’s why I passed up on the stop just before the one I chose with the cut grass. But as long as you asked and left no sign of being there most farmer are cool 😎.
@@ROCKETRALPH its the worst I can see the nice idea of riding on your own as you've only got to watch out for yourself, if you want to stop for how everlong you can. but safety, gates and chatting about the stuff you've seen would be missed.
That was by far my biggest worry so I made sure I parked up where I had signal to scroll socials and watch some UA-cam and the time soon passed away and I really enjoyed it. I do think it would be quite different without some sort of entertainment.
its great to share experiences with other people but i do really love riding alone. currently gearing up for 1st solo over night trip so this is inspiring thanks

@@ROCKETRALPH keen to see more content like this and also some enduro goonage! 🤙
I always think that when riding you are on your own anyway. It’s only when you stop you notice the company 😁
Bloody lovin' it. I've been looking for clips like these. Much love from the Philippines. If you can or have a 360 degree camera it would add more breath taking clips!
Can you please share what the gravel road was at 11.43, thanks and great video, not many people get why I like solo trips but your comments provide all the answers 👍
Hey buddy, thanks for watching. I’ve got my route on here.

Mate, so missed your videos, this is incredible! Hope too see more of your solo adventures 🤙🏼
Thanks Stu, I really felt my old just POV video lack story and purpose so haven’t posted them. I really enjoyed being creative with this type of video and feel like this is my direction 🤘🏻
@@ROCKETRALPH it’s brilliant, and def think all your work before has given you a foundation for this, good luck with it, I’ll def been looking forward too your next adventure 🙌🏻
@@Stu-pugh Thanks Stu 🫶🏻
950 Adv rider here.
Lovely video, made me miss Wales.
Can I ask what tyres you are using and how you like them>
Very good video ,liked the voiceover , keep it up , more please , subbed :)
Thanks, means a lot! I was so nervous doing it because it was my first time trying it but I will definitely be doing it again.
Glad you enjoyed 🫶🏻
@@ROCKETRALPH Can't wait ,popcorn at the ready :)
Loved it, thank you.
great content mate, new sub here. looking forward to your next solo, hopefully a few days for the next one :)
Amazing video Ralph the start had me hooked
Thanks Mat, I wasn’t sure how it would be received compared to my normal style of video but glad people are enjoying it because it was by far my favourite to create 🤘🏻
@@ROCKETRALPH Really was good to watch felt like it was the first part of a series id start watching, I’m currently on eBay looking for a adventure bike again after selling up my 890 adventure r
@@matthewmcmahon6281 hoping to do some longer trips which I’d like to make a series. Definitely get another Midwests 890 is so nice to ride!
@@ROCKETRALPH yeah think you definitely should and I know was exactly the same as Midwests but with the Remus silencer regretting it now
Nice one Ralph really enjoyed vid. Is there any chance you can share the rought it looks amazing. Cheers bud. Mike
Hey Mike, I’m going to put a GPX file together of my route and create a Dropbox to people to download it 🤘🏻
Nice one mate much appreciated 👌👌
Fun adventure. Yeea I want more.
Thanks dude, I hope to make more soon 🤞🏻
Great vid Ralph! 👍🏻
Thanks bro 🤘🏻
Stumbled across your video, very well filmed and edited 👌🏼
I had the 990 adventure R before my 1290 Super Adventure R and despite the power difference and bits of technology I did actually prefer the rawness of the 990, such a great bike.
This was actually a great watch
Thanks 😊 Glad people seem to be enjoying it. I really enjoyed creating it. 🤘🏻
Great video mate !! 👌👌👌👍
Thanks Steve 🤘🏻I notice in your latest video we have the same phone holder/charger. Great isn’t it 👌🏻
Much Enjoyment 👍😎
Thanks 🫶🏻
Great video Ralph 👊
Appreciate it!👊
Great vid dude! Really enjoyed it :)
Thanks buddy 🤘🏻
Awesome video mate 👌
The mighty 990 KTM, they put a lot of more modern ADV bikes to shame.
Well that was fantastic. mice one.
Thanks Davey 🤘🏻
this video got recommended by the algorithm to me and i love it,
riding an adventure bike is just awesome!
one question: is it allowed to set up camp anywhere you want in GB? in Germany ist illegal
I wish I’d spent a bit more time there and took some more shots of the castle 🏰
I think you are right that does look like farm land. You would be allowed with permission that’s why I passed up on the stop just before the one I chose with the cut grass. But as long as you asked and left no sign of being there most farmer are cool 😎.
Great video mate! You have yourself another sub with me, a fellow Welshman aswell lol
Thanks, really appreciate it, can't wait to make more!!
Great vid. Bloody gates!!
Thanks dude, I know such a pain aren’t they 🙈😂
@@ROCKETRALPH its the worst I can see the nice idea of riding on your own as you've only got to watch out for yourself, if you want to stop for how everlong you can. but safety, gates and chatting about the stuff you've seen would be missed.
I love solo trips, but I do find I get bored once the riding stops whether I'm at camp or in a hotel
That’s great to hear thanks 😊
Where are you planning your trip?
Great video!
Thanks dude 🤘🏻
