3:15 that noise was the noise I made when I checked my ap scores
I love this man 😃
Self Studying is the way to go
It's not a bad idea
Especially for obscure AP classes such as AP Computer Science A
Reece Fullerton is that a difficult class? I’m planning on taking it but ion know
@@JayJay-zz7un For me APCSA was one of the easier APs if that gives you some perspective.
@@reecefullerton4252 how about ap stats or ap psych
YES!! i’m a current junior and i’m taking 5 aps and took 4 last year and 1 freshman year. many of my friends think i’m crazy and “just doing it for the apps”, which is true lol, but i feel like you have to play the game? like it’s nice to say you should only take aps in subjects that you are interested in, but ultimately you have to show that you can succeed across subject areas and since i know i can handle it i’m going to show that. this turned into such a rant haha but i’m just glad that you’re giving real advice even if it’s not what people want to hear.
My AP chemistry teacher was amazing. She prepared us very well by giving us so many practice tests.
Should I do calc homework or study for an apush quiz? I'll just skip the sleep.😂
sleep is important, but sometimes you have to haha
omg living for these uploads
same bro
Your videos are so good
If it is your first time taking an AP class and you choose a subject matter that you're not interested just to get the boost, it might actually backfire.
Your intro was really nice and the video was great 🙂
I wish I only had 3-4 APUSH quizzes per semester. We had about 14 per semester and 7 tests. It was awful
Lmao I only took 1 and I didn't even pass the ap exam
Dude you’re incredible, by the time I’m done with senior year I’ll only have taken 9! I don’t think I could manage 14.
The moment you realize there's only one in-classroom AP class at your school.😂
Cooper Bassham What’s that one subject?
Clorox Bleach AP US History
Just make the most of what your school offers and you'll be fine!
One thing I didn’t hear you say was if you only reported the 5s you got to your schools? Did you also report the 4 (which I think is still a great score)?
Have you ever pulled an all-nighter in high school? Thanks for the uploads and keep up the good work😀
Choir has always been my passion, but if I cut it out of my schedule, I could probably do 13-14 AP classes instead of 10... do you think that is worth it???
To be honest, after 10 it becomes less impressive... a lot of applicants have a bunch of ap classes and theres not that big of a difference between 10 and 13 as opposed to 6 and 9 (if that makes sense). If youre really passionate and confident youll accomplish something in choir (like competitions, prez, etc) definitely focus on that
13? what the fuck
Michael Conley Jr. Hah Ikr??? I totally forgot I commented this but looking at it now as an already burnt-out sophomore I’m definitely glad I didn’t go that direction :) 10 is def enough lmao
Our school only offers English Lang, Calc AB, Physics 1, US History, and Spanish Lang. So I self-studied for the rest of them. My scores are below.
English Lang - 5
English Lit - 4 (took this year)
Calc AB - 5 (4 on BC subscore)
Statistics - 5 (took this year)
Physics 1 - 5 (took this year)
Physics 2 - 3 (took this year)
US History - 5
Psychology - 5 (took this year)
Macroeconomics - 4
Microeconomics - 5 (took this year)
Spanish Lang - 5 (took this year)
I forgot about Calculus BC which I took this year as a self-study. I got a 4.
Piano Star HOW?
Lots of self-discipline.
If I have 50marks out of 100 in maths then according to your marking system what is my GPA in maths. I have searched on Google but little bit confused
kriti vajpayee AP or honors?
Yes you did. And another kid I know did 24 and got rejected from all the ivied other than Brown and Cornell
John Landon Miller what the fuck?
He probably didnt have any extracurricular activities such as student govt, community service, jrotc, and didnt participate in athletics.
But still, that's unbelievable.
Did he get all Cs or something
The concept of taking ample amount of APs (i.e. 24 APs!) is practically spreading yourself too thin, and reflecting yourself as someone who cannot go beyond the borders of being a simple, "academic" student. College admission officers are not a bunch of idiots, they see it when you attempt to impress and impinge on them with a positive effect to make them believe that you're the ideal type of student for that particular institution through demonstration of your well-done academics. Albeit that's the intention nearly all students carry around these days, a student shall not only be comprised of academic aspects; they shall be comprised of different qualities that may morph the institution into something bigger and better. One should have something aside from academics to bring onto the table.
Melissa Atmaca u probably correct
Did your friends who cut themselves some slack get into Yale, or get scholarships?
THANKS FOR THE VIDEO!!!
Np
Hey josh, could you tell me how many apologies classes you took each year?
Hey, uh, I've got a question... Yale has always been my dream university, but I'm from a really small country (Croatia) and I'm not sure whether they accept a lot of foreign students, especially those who have had a different highschool experience and didn't get to do the same testing Americans have to go through and all that good stuff. Do you think it's still possible for me? I'm the top of my class and I take classes in English, which I hope helps with the fact I want to study in an English speaking country.
Do you think it's possible for a small Croatian dude to do this big Yale thing and all? 😂👌💕
It's possible but I'd keep your options open. There are tons of great universities to choose from.
How do you know how many AP classes you can handle? I’m planning on jumping from 2 APs Junior year to 5 APs Senior year. Is this too much?
I don't think so, although you're going to have to work for it and it really depends on which classes.
I’m doing the same thing. We’ve got this.
Humble Designs dude I’m going from zero AP classes sophomore year to probably 4 AP classes.
I’m going from 6 junior year to 7 senior year
I have a question, how did your school allow students to take AP courses? Because I know that some schools require a written test to take a certain AP course.
huh, I've never heard of that before, all I had to do was sign up
Krish Patel that sucks. My school just recommends AP classes based on your GPA and that’s pretty much it
Im thinking if AP class is worth to learn but there's pros and cons also a normal class have a pros and cons but im not sure which of them is the best for me , any suggestion to conclude my decision
I’m a high school sophomore and I’m taking one ap this year (AP World), I’ll have taken 7 aps by the time I graduate (world, us history, us gov, language, literature, calc bc, and psych). I want to go to university of Maryland for college but should I try to take extra aps like ap stat next year so I could boost my gpa?
Can you get a friend that did IB to go in depth with it?
What would you consider a good weighted GPA? Mine is about a 4.3 (4.295 to be exact)
That's a great GPA!
Lol mines a 5.6 since AP classes at my school are 7 weight
My school doesn't offer an AP classes, so I'm stuck with studying it by myself, which is not a bad thing, though! I'm at the end of my sophomore year, and I was considering doing the SAT this year, simultaneously with 4 APs (so that i can take the 4 AP exams in 2020). Additionally, i was thinking of taking another 4 AP classes in my senior year and take those exams in May 2021. However, once i get my AP scores and then apply to an Ivy college, their decisions will be announced the following May or so (for e.g if take my 8th AP exam in May 2021, and then apply to, say, Yale in November 2021, I will know if i get into Yale in May 2022. So doesn't this translate to a Gap year? Would you recommend it? Is taking a gap year common before attending college?
gotto extend the video to 10 minutes you know lmao
At my school (In Canada), there's only 5 AP classes are offered.
Do you know anyone at Yale that took IB classes
Bridget Johnson I know someone at Yale that took the IB in Rome. IB is a big program- Lot's of students take it, lots of students at Yale, Harvard, Oxford, Peking university, Boccuni, etc... have taken the IB. Most universities prefer IB students according to what I've heard.
Thanks!!
Bridget Johnson No problem! Also, if it helps you feel less stressed, I go to an only IB school and we've had people going to Harvard, Yale, Columbia, Princeton, Berkeley, UPenn, Cambridge, Oxford, and more, so IB should definitely not be discredited. It's usually considered more prestigious than the AP or A-Levels! Good luck with it though- Physics EE is the killer!
Hi I just have a question, did you ever work in high school?? I can’t even imagine you would have had time but did u make dem coins at all???
Josh what is the background music in this video called? Thanks.
Adarsh Sidhu It’s in the description of the video
Adarsh Sidhu it’s the instrumental to Flex by Post Malone
Nolan Johnson thank you so much.
Do you know your MBTI if not then take the test on 16personalities.com and tell me please
Great video! Did Yale accept most of your AP credits?
You can use them as acceleration credit
Josh Beasley what exactly does that mean?
I did dualenrollment instead of ap
Briana Corrielus Is that like getting credit for Hs and college by taking a college class?
Can u talk about IB? And why u didn’t do it
I never did IB, so I'm not qualified to talk about it
-HIT - I’m taking an IB class but not all high schools offer them and unless you’re planning to study abroad for most of your college career or go to college in a foreign country for the entirety of your college career then IB then some colleges won’t care at all they just boost your gpa like an ap class would they’re not different from a regular class
Christopher Reyes did you take IB?
Christopher Reyes your just taking one in class? That’s nothing
Darth JarJar my friends who take ib classes say it’s the same as a college prep level class and I transferred from a high school that had no ib classes so I didn’t know what it was and I’m taking more aps so that’s more important
Josh what do you think is a good gpa on the 6.0 scale that a top school like yale would like
Splash Xs 6.0+
Josh is it important to give Ap classes score in college application. Because in India my school as well as my other school does not conduct ap classes
Hey I am a rising sophomore in high school. I am trying to get in Ivy League especially Princeton and am taking 1 ap next year and 5 junior and 5 senior. I am also projected to be the co of my rotc unit and projected captain of a varsity sports team. ( last 2 are achievable goals I believe I can accomplish) Any tips?
I know I'm late but I just wanted your opinion on the courses I'm planning to take in my senior year.
• AP Biology
• AP Chemistry
• AP English Language
• AP Statistics
• AP Calculus
• Honors Human Anatomy & Physiology
For some additional background info, I moved to the US from the UK a few months into junior year, and fell ill shortly after.
I did homebound work which was enough for me to get a pass on the requirements for 11th grade, but I wasn't able to do any classes to get me college credit, and I feel like I had a whole year wasted and now feel the urge to do more to compensate.
I know it will be extremely tough for me if I decide to take this on, but would it be possible to handle/would this be a good set of classes to prepare me for Pre-Med?
Thank you in advance for any replies!
I am aiming for UCLA so should I aim for 10 AP Courses throughout High School?
Hey Josh, did you ever take AP Spanish? How did you feel about it if so?
Does anyone have any tips on self studying??? Im going go be soph next year and self studying AP physics and an extra language. I need help!!!
3:15 What was that sound haha? Also, is there any ap clases you regret taking or any that you regret not taking?
Hi Josh, thanks for all the great content you have been putting up!
I just have a question about my school: it doesn't offer a lot of the higher level APs because not enough kids sign up and the school councilors don't let students take more than 1 AP class until Junior year, so I will only have done 10 AP classes by the time I graduate. Do colleges account for the amount of APs high schools offer?
yes they sorry I'm a little late what college did you end up going to?
Can you link the 2 videos you mentioned - HS study tips and the other H.S. one?
Do you have recommendations for schools that don’t have Ap classes (my school only offers English and calc) but extremely hard to get into ik colleges look at what you’ve been offered at school but I want to take ap courses any recommendations for online learning/self learning for ap exams (online classes would be great credit bearing)
Please answer my question
Could you do a video of yale international student requirements? ( india would be preferee)
Could you explain retaking AP’s? I was stupid and did not adequately prepare for AP Biology and got a 3. How do retakes work and do they just show one of the grades on the College Board website? Thank you.
I'm not Josh and I wouldn't say I'm 100% correct considering I haven't retaken an AP exam, but from the limited research I did when I was worried about my ap chem score, I'm pretty sure to retake an exam, all you need to do is sign up to take the test again and, well, take it. From what I was told, I'm pretty sure both of your scores will show up, so I think you'd have to withhold the original score so it wouldn't be sent to colleges :/
Maddie Ramos ok appreciate it! Josh if you could confirm this, that would be great. Thanks both of u!
Maddie Ramos if u don’t mind me asking, what’s u get on AP Chem?
Don't worry about retaking AP's unless you really, really want the college credit and you know that the college your going to will accept it
Josh Beasley well I am an upcoming junior this year and do not know what college I want to go. However, I want to become a doctor and I don’t think a 3 in AP Bio is gonna get not anywhere. Do you think I should retake it for this reason or if I do well on like AP Chem and AP Enviro then it’ll be fine? Thanks Josh, appreciate the help!
Thanks josh! I took 7 this year (of which I self studied 4). I’m looking at taking around 16 exams next year. Thanks so much for your videos!!
How did you handle that?
I thought 10 AP/dual credit classes was going to be a lot next year. You're a madman
Marvelous Ekeh I move through the content fairly fast. On some of the exams, like history, just knowing the structure and format of essays ensures your success.
Jakob Hellmann good luck!! I definitely like taking AP & DE classes, but if you have time, I strongly recommend self studying an AP course your interested in
David Spicer Oh yeah I'm going to self stuff chem and APES on top of three DE and five AP classes
Is a 4.2 gpa ok? I’ve been having a rough time with family life and I don’t honestly know if I can handle more then one this coming junior year. Maybe in senior year I’ll do more because I’m ahead in credits and I should have more free time.
My school wont even let you take that many. As fresh, we are required to take bio and have to take chem before ap bio. So the max science ap classes you can take is too. AP English is for junior and sen only, same with history. Then the language ap is usually 1, unless your bilingual and already fluent in both. Then the max for math is AP Calc and AP stats. There is also AP CS but thats an elective. We also have AP studio art. So even if you did all the possible classes, you'd only have 11. So i am stuck self studying AP physics in hopes of getting at least 11 because im not doing CS.
And also probably taking some approved courses online too so I could also do AP psych
Psych wise, if you don't mind not having an actual class for it on your transcript and just want the test, I honestly think it's one of those tests you can self-study in less than a week since it's mostly vocabulary and, really, if you read the barrons book you're pretty much set. (Disclaimer: I did take the class, but I mostly crammed for the tests last minute and my real studying for the test came from reading the book/ memorizing vocabulary the week prior, so yea) - I'd 100% take an online class for physics over psychology tbh, but all of this is just a personal opinion so yea
Maddie Ramos wow thats really helpful. Since physics is harder is should probs take an online class and i could self study psych. Thank you so much
Make the most of what your school offers and you will be fine!
Josh Beasley thank you! Your videos help me so much. Seeing you succeed motivates me to push harder
You shouldn't recommend taking AP in the subjects you don't like. It's very difficult to succeed in that situation and you'll end up hating your life
First 😀
