I have a 2023 Gmc 3500 dually
Lifted 3.5” in the front, 2.5” in the back on 36’s, 45’ toy hauler triple axle, 20k loaded, no air bags needed, truck sits level, tows like a dream.
Sweet looking set up you have.
JB, like you, I do a lot of research. And your channel has been perfect! You have answered questions I didn't even know I had. Keep up the good work!
Couple things, if you get a 5th wheel toy hauler, most have flipped axles and if/when they make different ring and pinions, don’t waste your money on 4.10…. With those 37’s, I recommend 4.56 if you tow a lot. I’ve had my 2024 high country for 10 days, I had a 2012 F450 with 4.30’s on 37’s, “tuned”…… and had to lock out 6th gear towing our 5th wheel toy hauler, about 15k lbs.
Haters going to hate. I personally don’t like lifted duallys but if you like it and it works for you, perfect. Keep up the good work.
JB, doesn't look too bad, I would say you are at least 2" high in the front of your 5er, not really a deal breaker. With big 5th wheels you have to be mindful of overall height of the trailer. My Solitude is listed as being 13'5" to the highest point, this is approaching the maximum legal height for trailers. Most larger 5th wheels already have the springs on top of the axles. I have installed lift blocks before to get the trailer up higher, as well as taller tires on the trailer. Jayco uses a 255/85R16 tire on their big 5th wheels and they are listed as being 33 inches tall. My Solitude sat a little nose high with my 2017 3500 with 34.5 inch tires and air bags, wasn't a big deal, but I also had a 2001 Holiday Rambler Alumascape 5er and I had added lift blocks under the springs to give it an additional 2 inches of height because it was my hunting trailer and I took it off road. The last trip I took that trailer on I kissed the top of the bed on my truck with the overhang of the trailer and crinkled both sides of the bed!!!!!! I also had 5 inches of clearance and I can tell you, it is marginal at best. Last month when I pulled into my daughters yard to park my Solitude with my 23 stock height GMC dually, I kissed the top of the bed rails. Also, when you run a little nose high, it makes it much easier to drag the tail of the trailer. Overall I would tow with a trailer that looked like that, but keep in mind that when you run a trailer high in the front you will transfer more weight to the rear trailer axle and vice versa if you run the trailer low in the front. Only way to know for sure is weigh each axle separately on the trailer FULLY LOADED.
Thanks for the dually video drop JB! Love the information you’re putting out on it. I got a 24 gmc and plan on leveling with kryptonite and 35s. But maybe if you continue success with 37s, I’ll get gutsy enough to do it too. 🤣
Yeah….. BUDDY! That is a nice truck and trailer setup!
Thanks Justin for addressing my issue.
I used to have a 3500 Denali SRW, and now I’m rolling with a F-450. I added some 35” tires and I am nose high. I have the MOYRIDE independent suspension and I learned there is two bolt holes I can switch to which will raise the back of the trailer higher, which should level it out more.
I have a Lippert Trail Air hitch and I think I am able to bring it up two bolt holes which I’m going to try. This hitch is so long that it tends to hit my tonneau cover if I don’t have the hitch airbag filled up. So I’m going to try a few different modifications to try and get the trailer leveled out.
That new house location is a perfect free video set for you with those beautiful views. Can’t wait to visit out there.
That dually looks so good,,,,my new 2023 Colorado Trail boss comes with 2inch lift, but I’m gonna get another 2inches and add the black military style 18inch wheels with aggressive off road tires with bigger sidewall,,,,I can’t wait,my trucks gonna look sick too,,I haven’t seen NO Colorados like I’m gonna do on You Tube!
I own a GMC Dually and have towed a lot and having Pacbrake air bags to lift the load off the over load spring and the ride is so much better. It looks good with the 37s.
Good for towing but most definitely not better, it does nothing positive for the towing capability of the truck. Its just that the dually is so capable that even with a lift and bigger tires it is still very useful.
Great video. One thing I learned from towing a big fifth wheel with my old truck before I got airbags was the damage (or premature failure) it would do to the front end since it's up in the air a bit. I went through ball joints until I installed the air bags. And of course you get flashed at night by everyone. LOL...I now prefer my new truck to sit level or a little front down for those reasons. My toy hauler came with factory flipped axles so it rides level with 8-10" of bedrail clearance with 35s. I may be jumping up to 37s again but we'll see.
I'd suggest looking up the load inflation tables for your Toyo tires on the dually. Just looking at the video, it appears you are over inflated for the loads you have (the dust/dirt pattern on the tires...looks to be mostly riding on the center portion of the tread, not the entire tread width).
My take. Put that dually with 37's against a stock dually the stock one is going have better towing performance every time in both performance and fuel economy. Add weight to the trailer the difference will be even bigger. You may be just fine with 13k but step it up to 20k plus you may not like the added height and weight of those 37's. Let be real here from a 5th wheel standpoint you are towing a flyweight. a 20k toyhauler with a 4k pin is going to be a different animal entirely.
Thats not to say the one with 37's wont pull, it just will not have the same performance as stock.
The only thing affected in this is the gearing now because of the oversize tires. Now you have higher gear ratio so you wont have the same as factory BUT, With the power of these engines it probably isn't noticed. The rest of it doesn't matter and looks so good!! Love it.
truck came out beautiful, i’ve been running airbags for the last few years now in 3 of my trucks, 05 ram 2500, 22 L5p 3500 srw long bed and 22 HO 3500 srw (the i intentionally ordered with our factory air) all 3 are crew cab long beds, i don’t tow “heavy” at all but the air bags in the trucks make them tow so much nicer in my opinion, all 3 trucks i’ve installed air lift load lifter 5000 ultimate plus air bags with the wireless one compressors and i will continue to put them in any new trucks i buy couldn’t be happier with how they tow
You will definitely hit the bed rails with that little of clearance if you go on uneven terrain. Of course it will matter how uneven. I have a stock 2024 3500HD GMC dually with a 2009 Weekend Warrior with a goose neck setup with over 7" of bed rail clearance and the trailer touched the bed will going down into a driveway. It was a fairly steep driveway but still something you want to be watching out for! If you are a freeway flier only then you should be ok.
Okay to be wrong because that’s how I learn. Truer words have never been spoken. Love your work.
My stock truck is too high for my fifth wheel. Bigger tires and levelling would make it even worse.
I just do not like the looks of the mega cabs - I like symmetry and the mega cabs just don’t look right.
I remember the first time I saw a mega cab. It was just after the came out and I had heard of them but not seen one in real life. My friend and I were eating in taco bell and looking out the window. It looked so weird compared to other trucks we laughed so hard we almost spit food on the floor. The new ones are better but still weird.
Chevy doesn’t make a mega cab, it’s a crew cab with a king bed.??
Long bed
@@the_halfshell10k and stretch my truck will do it!
I didn't see a mega cab in this video! You know the cab is where you sit right?
Hey JB. I love the way the truck came out but I knew that was gonna happen..I was told by a mechanic that I take my work trucks to that the work trucks are built for that specific purpose and really shouldn't be messed with.
My only complaint is that Goosebox. I had one when they first came out and had it set in the pin box to the maximum height, I had like 9-10 inches but those gooseballs allow for so much side to side travel that I crushed the corners of my front cap on BOTH sides, while making sharp tuns and hitting holes or just uneven ground. Now I know they have since come out with the Gen 2 and recently the Gen 3 but I will never go back. I switch to the Trail aire with dual air bags and a 25K Companion 5th wheel hitch. But I don't haul that much with mine so not really worried about it staying in there.
Looks good to me! I have a 2015 Duramax with a 2 3/4 level on the front end it’s an LTZ Z71 I have a 36 foot fifth wheel ,and I don’t have any issues towing ,truck and trailer ride great.
It looks like the trailer, might be slightly higher in the front, but to Me it looks like it is fine for towing the way it is. I watched a different Vlogger, that did have an issue in that he made the point that trucks are getting higher, but 5th wheel trailers are not, and He had an issue backing up an incline to where he parked the trailer. For some reason, I had it in My head, that with bigger tires, You might lose clearance. Doesn’t look any different to Me, than any other modern truck doing the same thing. At the end of the day, it is Your truck, and You get to do what You like! That truck is a bonafide tractor! Thanks for the videos!
Your beast is fine! I Have Denali 3500. Lifted. Everything fine. Just can't do a fifth wheel. Other mod I did was install a cold air intake, added extra horse power, that mod was worth it. Not too expensive
For you're purposes you didn't loose anything. That trucks towing capacity is far greater than the weight of any toy hauler I know of. My concern is with it loaded and being leveled where are your headlights going to be aiming? Air you doing anything to not blind on coming traffic? That is the reason I use airbags.
His headlights are no different height than a semi, also ppl with regular ride with brights on when It's a dark road anyways and have no consideration
I jumped off the Chevy gmc bandwagon back in 19 and went to ford. But you got me debating on going back. That dually is nasty!
Bro! I am a believer! She looks sick!🇺🇸💪
Looks good to me. It’s the tire size that will decrease the performance of the truck.
I am assuming that you lost a little payload with the bigger tires, negligable maybe 100 lbs but still a bit right? I would think it is even more stable towing that a normal dually due to the wider rear track. Looks level to me too!
You dont lose any capacity but people say it does because now since the truck is leveled unloaded and no longer has the factory rake in it anymore so when you load a leveled truck it still sags the same amount it just looks like it sags more but only because the front end is lifted 2 inches taller than stock
You should have measured from the ground to the bottom of the trailer on the front and back with both set ups that would have gave you a true measurement of what difference you where trying to show. Ideally you want that trailer as leave as possible while still maintaining the gap between the bedside and bottom of the trailer. The measurement you took between the bed would be about the same since you used the same ball and set up and didn’t change anything and they are similar trucks. The biggest change the 37s make is in your overall gear ratio, and having that 10 speed you can probably make up for that by just running a gear lower. They also will affect braking alittle because of the leverage from the bigger tires.
That CJC video got me too. I love your videos, keep em comin! I’m about to swap my 18 ram 3500 for a 24 dually, still undecided between Ram and GMC, though your other video has me leaning back towards GMC.
You can still pull a bumper pull trailer. You have the best of both worlds
didn't squat much. looks good. I'd like to see how much different the towing experience is with big tires.
Thats the best looking hd chevy i see on youtube. The dullay and stnace are wicked good
JB keep it about trucks and RVs please I can’t stand the right and sometimes the left but this channel and many others are were I go to escape all that stuff keep my happy place happy ok thanks
No issues! Nice truck. I’m jealous twice.
Shit looks good to me. That trailer looks real good with both trucks.
Badass bro will you add the camera to the bed eventually to make it lil easier backing up to the 5th wheel??
Camera obviously helps but you don't need. If you line up with the middle and keep the hitch low you can get it by yourself every time easy
I have, what can probably be classified as, an unhealthy obsession with Ford Super Duties, but that is a beautiful truck. The Chevy half tons have a little too much going on for me. There’s too many twists and turns and cuts. The HD’s are cool and yours looks great.
If you’re going to look for a toy hauler check out the Sundowner Krawler Hauler. If you want to carry a jeep they are the ticket.
Nope, No Lifts for me, been there and done that. I will keep my trucks stock height with stock size tires.
Measure the distance from the ground to the Bottom of the fifth wheel up front and then at the rear. That’ll tell you
What’s up man you do Lil Baby you but don’t worry about what people say. I don’t know what the hell is, I love that 2023 Chevy Silverado profile honey and I love your Chevy Silverado 20502,023. I love the trailer and I know that fit for you need something that need to pull ahead you’re doing your day war❤❤❤
When you go to taller tires you do the same thing as going to a higher #rear end. In regular terms you have less power anf tork at a given rpm. So the first thing that you would notice is lack of hp. The tesond thong is your transmision would be in a bigger strane
No where as big of a deal with 10 gears with 4.xx 1st gear back during the 4 speed days 2.45 1st gear really big deal
You hadn’t even set the fifth wheel down on the ball so it probably would be slight nose high but pretty darn close!
It's beautiful JB!
The only thing I assume is..... you Crazy!
Ok so I use to be a guy who hated on big tires on a tow rig however now people can get away with it having 10 speed trans really low starting gears really help of course it robs some power but your 2024 on 37s still out tows my 07 dually on 235s all day
Yeah, but it’ll downshift more than it should. People think that 10 speed trans makes up taller tires. The taller tires takes the engine out of its sweet spot. There’s some other factors that most people don’t see as well.
What’s class rating on the tires? Class C or D? That may be what people were talking about in the previous comments.
Your limiting factor ( weakest link) may be the tires.
👍 No need to say anything else. Great information JB. Love that great looking dually Brother.
I haul my 38foot TT on a 10” lift with 35s. Added a drop hitch for my WDH. Truck sits level, camper sits level. Left lane money train rolling down the highway🤠
Dually usually sits lower to start than single rears, so really balanced out height wise.
I just got my 2024 gmc dirtymax dually its tall from the start
You’re OK you are at 100% right on the money
Brother, it's time to put your new dually to work. When are you going on the road for a month or 2
Put 19klbs on it and tow it up the ike gauntlet... I want to see what it does with those tires on it. Afraid to do it to mine for that reason.
You should checkout the weigh safe goosneck ball, it has a scale on it for the tongue weight.
This was a great video and makes me think more about adding 37s to my Ram 3500 SRW that I had always written off because of the fifth wheel. Hrmm lol. Thanks!
I had a 3500 Mega Cab SRW with a 2in level with 37s on 22's. It pulled great and no problem stopping.
Bro its fine,if you where tow hotshot I would have left it stock
People misunderstand what they mean when they say lift. They're thinking about those trucks that look like a french bulldog that got hit by a car trying to walk around. 12" lift on 30" rims with a 1" sidewall stretched tire... Those don't tow. Leveled trucks tow better.
That's why you keep that baby #STOCK.
Oh the drama. Leveled and lifted are two different things. Leveling a truck can cause it to tow nose-high with your headlights pointing up. I said CAN, not WILL. Lifting (depending on the lift hardware and wheel/tire combo) can add additional weight that can reduce capacity. On a dually, that capacity reduction is likely not an issue. But lifts are rarely built to OEM standards and eventually wear out leaving the truck sagging and nose high after years of heavy towing. We have a lifted & leveled GMC dually with that problem at my work right now. More of an issue for the 2nd or 3rd owner than the person that put it on.
The level and 37's work fine for THIS application. Would I do it? Nope.
Man that is perfectly level.
If you look at the unladen gap between the tire and the fender on the front vs the back it is absolutely not level. It is nose high and that’s not debatable.
Just curious if anyone has run 12.50's on stock dually wheels like this, what kind of tire wear life can you expect? It has to wear the centers faster, I would assume.
Way safer with a dually than single wheel nobody can argue that
JB. I personally tow a 395 momentum with a 3” lift 37’s on 22’s. F350. 355 gearing. I have no issues. In fact my buddy with a SRW that tows a 5er I can still outrun in the turns because you don’t get tire flex like a SRW. I will say if you keep smaller wheels you will have more tire flex.
Hey JB maybe be able to help me out , 2024 gmc dually , 4” cognito lift on 22/35’s . Speedo is off and can’t find a programmer. Dealership won’t touch it . I know Hypertech,Edge, and Banks working one , but they can’t tell me when
How is the duel milage with the 37's compare with the original
JB Reviews I am wondering if you had readjust the shifting points on the transmission because different size tires turn at different speeds bigger tires turn slower then maybe the stock wheels do ? curious ?
nothing wrong bro great set up
Your truck looks beautiful
It does look damn good.
Can't you get your 5th wheel lifted like your trucks suspension?
Dually looks so good!!
Sick set up
Hate us cause they ain’t us 😂
Great videos. Have you looked at adding a bed camera to the truck? I ordered an LT and it didn’t have an option for that. Just curious if you looked into it or not.
That truck look good with fifth wheel
Nice looking truck, JB! I am currently in the market for the 2023 Ram 3500 Longhorn and i might as well install a 35" tires with the stock wheels. What wax job product you mentioned that is best for keeping your rv clean? Please let me know, thank you in advance.
Which rate is the tire/ ply are the tires? Is it squishy when towing or still solid?
Can you tell me what tire pressure sensors you installed in your trailer that will communicate with the GM factory system? I have a 2022 2500 HD and the GM sensors are about $150 per pair.
what is the new curb weight on your truck with the 37's how much weight did it gain so that would bu your new payload
It’s a great looking truck
What hitch are you using in your bed and on the 5th wheel trailer?
This truck of yours is 🔥
Do you prefer goosebox over 5th. B&W Companion?
Question is why you need all this
Really it look good.
It looks good!!
Looking good
Nice setup man
Did the truck need modified to fit 37's, do they rub at all?
How much is your coupler offset on that gooseneck?
I like bone stock duallys . They look ugly when lifted or sit on tall big wheels.
Well since you all are in agreement that The Bow Tie has been destroyed!? I guess I'll have to call DIBS!!!! I'd love to have that truck. LOL
What up?❤❤❤❤❤
4:15 Is the trailer connected and ready to tow?
Still not a fan of The 37's, sorry
What’s your mpg as a daily driver and mpg towing?
I'm looking to get myself a dually because I like the looks, I may be towing once in a while, will be a most daily truck
You shouldn't care about mpg once you make your truck look like that.
@@volkodavwolfcrusherlv7133 you are right, I had many diesel 2500 trucks in the past and I always do 20/35 or 22/37 with 4” lifted suspension,, I so used to of getting 12 to 16 mpg if I'm lucky but I have never owned a dually, that is why I was curious about Mpg on your set up
@@gustavorodriguez4240 I have a 22 ram 3500 with a Carli 2.5" level kit and 35" mud tires not extreme tread. I can get 11 city and 13 plus unload, when towing it just depends if I hit hills, no hills it can get 11 to 13 easy hills drops big time 6 to 9, so it just all depends. I would say for the power and overall size of the truck it gets great mileage
@@volkodavwolfcrusherlv7133 thank you
Does the level and 37s void the power train warranty?
Why wouldn't the 37s void the warranty? It will throw the gearing all out of spec. Which will throw the trans all out of spec. Which will probably not make the engine happy. Way to big of a tire to tow with.
