Positive and negative bending defines deflection behaviour. Under positive bending, deflection is downward, compression is found above and tension is found below. It can be easily simulated. On a negative bending, deflection going up, compression is now found below and tension is found above. This is based on the principle of strength of materials in relationship of moment-flexure and deflection. Cheers.
Usually if loads are downward, towards earth due to attraction of all masses towards the core of eadth we call gravity pull, tends the beam to deflect downward and that is positive bending. Your experience of drawing the shear and moment diagram will tell you the same thing :) is it wonderful? They jive. Cheers.
Thank you po sir ! Sana maging prof ko pa po kayo sa mga natitira ko pong subjects sa NU! God bless po sir :)
Thank you sir! Road to understanding structural engineering. Fundamentals is the key.
Thank you, Sir! This helped me a lot.
Thanks sir sa explanation. More vid to come
Sir bakit sa moment diagram nasa Taas yung Positive moment? Tas sa iba nmn nasa baba yung Positive moment? Saan po ba talaga? 20:40
