After wind shifts push the smokehouse fire south it reachs the city limits of Canadian, TX and claims multiple homes.
Heartache, I know you aren’t crazy about us in California, but we really do know what this kind of disaster can do to the poor souls of all those impacted and hoping it stops soon and the damage with it! Hurting for all of you. Homes, livelihoods, your animals the wildlife too….what a nightmare!
Yes, we have to deal with fires, floods and earthquakes but still our hearts ache to see our fellow countrymen deal with their own natural disasters. Texas Strong!

Canadian is a small town on the Eastern side of the Texas panhandle.
It's been 30 years since I passed through, but I remember how friendly and helpful the people were. They treated us like old friends!

This is really hard to watch I lost my home and everything in august 23 due to wildfire , I saved my horses and dogs thats all I could do 🙏😔

Will do 👍. I just got a call from a fire fighter I know, he said it’s rough out there. I used to maintain firetrucks for the land management companies around here. So I offered up my services if they needed it. So I’m on standby if they need me 👍. Said so far no major mechanical issues, if only the wind would die down a bit.
My brother-in-law is security at Pantex. They're okay. It was close.

I used to work and live in Canadian. A wonderful little town. The Canadian River area and all the surrounding ranches have large numbers of wildlife, cattle etc. My thoughts are with y'all.

High wind dry fields one carelessly tossed cigarette out of a auto is all it takes.
Seen lots of smalls fires started on the highways because someone tossed a cig out. Glad I stopped smoking years ago but even when I did I kept a ashtray in the car so I would not throw them out.
You would be surprised by how many people out in the boonies decide to burn a barrel of trash, or get rid of that burn pile, even though the wind is gusting to 25 mph, the humidity is 20%, and there is currently a burn ban in effect. It is not as common as many people assume for a carelessly tossed cigarette to start one of these large fires. It does happen, but most of these tragically destructive wildfires have more absurdly stupid sources of ignition. Wildland fires are also started by power lines arcing due to strong winds blowing debris onto the lines. Regardless of how it starts, once it does, strong winds will carry firebrands a suprising distance away from the initial fire, and then firefighters and property owners quickly have a very big and terrifying problem.
I'm probably not going to be popular for mentioning, "WEARY TRAVELERS"!!!

@@frankmacleod2565 just curious, why not? I'm sure you have reasons. (some of my family lost everything in the Camp Fire when the town of Paradise was destroyed. not just the town burned, 80+ people died. we got help from everywhere.)

My landlady and her husband went and bought air purifiers for both my house and my daughter's house. Bear in mind my daughter does not live with me she's a grown woman with children of her own. The smoke was so bad here in Amarillo I could barely see across the street. Winds here over the last couple of days have been absolutely horrific.
I also experienced this in Canyon. It was HORRIBLE!!
I spent some time mostly in Lubbock and Happy, but also Amarillo and Canyon. That is a gorgeous area. My heart aches for all the people being impacted by this.

One of those plants is coal the other N/G. It’s fairly close to them but there are a ton of fire fighters watching. I’m maybe a mile away from them, no worries, but there are quite a few houses in that area.
Now there is Pantex close by too, they assemble and disassemble nukes there.. Bit of a concern…

My brother and sister-in-law were evacuated from their trip near Canadien and shown the best route out so they could continue homeward bound to MN... They said there were 50+ MPH winds and sandstorms and so much smoke, I think that may be the first time I have ever heard them shaken while on a road trip.

Something doesn't look right about these fires. It looks to me like energy directed weapons caused these fires like paradise california and maui. If you don't believe me, do your own research about what they are. It's all by design
