The most common question we have been getting so here is the answer! - Dirt Rally fans I think will be very happy with this :)
No hair=No buy
finally have the game ? ;)
o yes
how can i calibrate my steering wheel ?
@GamerMuscleVideos, or why don't you compare it to Richard Burns Rally? You know, the most realistic simulator still? Oh, you bafoons don't know what that game is? ohhhh NEVERMIND~~ =(
wow you got straight into driving instead of messing about in a menu for 4 hours
He broke new ground!
Soooo true
I just got DiRT Rally 2.0 and only had time to play 25 minutes of it, but I am absolutely loving it! The cars have more weight to them, and you can actually control and car and keep it straight. In the old DiRT Rally I was scared to properly go fast because you'd easily lose it even on straights, the cars just felt light and floaty everywhere. But in DiRT Rally 2.0 I feel much more confident in the car, can feel the car is actually on the road, which makes for a much more enjoyable experience overall. I reckon it's more realistic. Codies have done a fantastic job!
I love your head, it fits your glasses!
im having the complete opposite experience.. if i go over 100km i completely lose control of the car. the steering becomes inconsistent. i cant tell what a turn is gonna do at speed. have been playing dirt rally 1 for about a year n and a half and don't have that issue
Been Microphone Maybe be a bit lighter on your right foot?
@@Streetw1s3r yeah that may be the case... i actually started in the porsche 911 with like 450hp, and so half way through the stages my engines takin quite a beating and actually drives much better now 😂
@Zwenk Wiel the Quattro sounds sooooo epic
Fantastic review dude, I love how you kept things straight to the point for the viewers instead of giving a half baked answer in the end like some other channels do. Enjoy!
Probably the most eloquent breakdown of how this title feels that I have watched so far. I wanted to get involved in DR2.0, now I feel like I need it. 10/10 man...great review.
Thanks for this! It's much better than reading comments on UA-cam and reddit from people who've never actually played this yet criticize the realism.
do you remember in dirt rally the gravel along the side of the road in the Finland area was like concrete you would hit that and your car would fly up in the air that was crazy
yeah. it was awesome.
Newer rally cars don't have traction control, I'm glad to hear you feel a difference when hitting the loud pedal. WRC drivers modulate the throttle quite a bit.
This is going to be 200% better when we get VR later :)
Still holding off on purchase till it does. I'm still not betting VR will be free
@@RamjetX why it wouldnt be? The situation is the same as with DR1, no vr was planned, Oculus put down some cash so Codies could make the VR patch and it was free for customers, same thing is happening now
@@majo2626 why wouldn't they charge for DLC?
you know it
@@RamjetX its not a DLC
this is exactly the video I needed, Thanks!
This was very helpful top Video thanks
Physics are improvement over DR. However, FFB is garbage. No roadfeel whatsoever, just bland resistance and SAT. I'm hoping it's some bug, feels like half of the FFB effects missing
yah i think its missing one of the effects for some reason.
Absolutely agree with this, where is the FFB ? Its so dull with little to no feeling. I spent 4 hours this morning tweaking the XML values to get more feeling, its still not perfect but much better steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1663123655
Codemaster same story Again and again... patch and patch...and not a little bug ...just ffb missing
I know im a year late but this is a rally sim. They have their wheels super light. There IS no road feel in a rally car.
Thank you, very informative video!
There are a tiny few things about Dirt Rally 2.0 that I don't like, and that I think Dirt 4 did better.
1. Co-driver call-outs. I prefer them calling the turn direction before the number; just a personal preference.
2. The stage ending. I miss being able to drive up to the marshal like in Dirt 4.
In the career mode you do drive to the marshal still, although it auto brakes to slow you down where Dirt 4 didn't
@@YogiTheBearMan Dirt 4 does that too when the Marshal comes into sight
I really liked this video, good way to start morning. Nice to see comparison from a thinking man who can transfer his driving feelings in words. Not that often you get that on other youtube channels.
Excellent video, hilarious openener, codies should pay u some commission it was your stream last night that made me cancel the standard version and get the deluxe version. Well done GM keep it up 👍
Dirt had a big problem for me, where the clutches biting point was waaay too tight. It was basically clutch on or off. It meant that you couldn't half-way clutch to keep the revs up while going through hairpins, and the car would just stall in the middle of the corner. It was especially a big problem for the older cars that didn't have a whole lot of horsepowers to begin with.
I hope they've fixed that.
I think its mostly the same , to be honest I mostly drive faster cars or modern cars so itsnot something I pay to much atention to smashing in the gears and braking everything lol.
@@GamerMuscleVideos Okiedokie. It does look like they've fixed the grip levels for 2.0 though, so it's easier to keep the wheels spinning through a turn, so maybe it won't be much of an issue this time around. ^^
@@Sunesen not sure this is helpful but racing clutches like what would be on those historic-class rally cars are very "on-off"-y in real life, not like a street car clutch that you can massage. so maybe it is accurate, while also being frustrating. probably can be overcome with fine throttle modulation and selecting a lower gear and keeping the wheels spinning :) (i.e. drifting the tight corners, that's what the old masters did anyway)
@@dalton-at-work Yeah you are probably right. I didn't even know it was a thing until I researched it some more. It seems like a stupid thing for a rally car where its paramount to retain a high RPM through difficult situations, but thats like I guess.
To be honest though, I've found this to be much less of an issue in Dirt Rally 2.0. The cars are much easier to slide sideways on the dirt and keep the wheels spinning, even with the older cars, so thats that I guess. ^^
@@Sunesen you would never do what you said you were trying to do in real life. Slipping the clutch that way makes them explode and destroys the clutch. What you should do is bang down to a lower gear, hold in clutch, ebrake, then dump the clutch while pegging the throttle to the floor the whole time to get the car around hairpins. Not every time obviously,
Dont slip a clutch. They let out the magic smoke then explode. Some people have almost lost their feet irl by exploding clutches from slipping them hard
Thank you so much for this video 👍🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Thank you for the well said critique. I was almost raising my perception/opinion of this game, but then I stumbled on a RBR video.
- Lack of sense of speed. It's fast, but non-variable. All turns are equal? It feels like you take tight corners as fast as fast turns. There's no sliding over a ridge into a blind corner.
- The road doesn't continue into the distance, there's no anticipation of the next turn. Is it FOV or is it something they are masking? All turns are under 5 seconds away
- Car is and will always be controlled via center pin? That's why this game can't do physics.
Great vid mate
Oh, oh...there's a New Zealand section. I thought I recognized the fauna of home!! Sign me up, despite the minor faults!
Everything is great from where i'm sitting. I can't argue with that. What I can argue about is whether Codemasters really thinks it's good value for money. Basing it on DR, which had the same lacklustre content i'd say no way. I'll wait for a year and get it cheaper with all the extra DLC thanks Codies!
The deluxe version just dropped to $40 for August!
I just got the game from ebay (ten quid) and all four year one season DLCs for 20 quid. There aren't any year twos. Well worth it - two years later
This is what I wanted to know ... Cheers muscle
I got thrust AND girth! Thanks, GM!
GM - I think this is the most in-depth I've ever heard you speak about driving style, and the physics of car handling in a game..
I'm waiting until I get some feedback from people playing this via Revive..
we wont know that until summer 2019 or 4-6 months away approx. when the vr patch is released.. but yeah, im doing the same.
Can't wait too try it hope it's great FFB as well. I found low settings in dirt rally was best master about 100 too 110 rest was low and it felt good could feel more weight transfer suspension movement. I think people think higher is better but it's not You didn't show us that part
This game is absolutely incredible on a 4 DOF rig like the ProSimu P5MP. The jumps and bumps (along with loud buttkickers to feel the suspension on gravel) is amazing!
Thx for Vid. Greeting from Germany.
I feel like I am going to need to reinstall Dirt Rally 1.0 just for Pikes Peak in VR. I didn't have VR when it first came out.
Top video, the game looks very promising :)
Whenever I finished a stage in Dirt Rally 1 I'd call my parents to tell them I was ok
Why?
I like all the positives you have for it. So many videos focus on negative aspects.
dirt rally 1 (2015) is the best one in my opinion
Meh, I have both so it doesn’t really matter to me. I can just keep switching. 🙂
Thanks GM
Dirt Rally 1 is better from DR 2.0 imo.
More realistic feeling and feedback from the car in Dirt Rally 1. Much much better co driver and much better graphics.
Agreed! Still the best codemasters have made and a shame it wasnt expanded on with more courses.
Good to hear the tarmac handling has been at least slightly improved. With dirt rally, I did find that it was so bad it was frustrating.
its still mostly bad to be honest
@@GamerMuscleVideos Ah well. I'll probably end up giving it a go. Worth it for the loose surface racing anyway. Thanks for the reply.
Okay that’s it. I’m downloading now!
I hear what you are saying however dirt 4 was a continuation from dirt 3 not dirt rally, so personally I don’t compare them. Dirt rally and now rally 2.0 are a new IP. They need to somehow remove the dirt name out of it to cut the confusion being one is arcade based and the other sim based.
Can you do a video on how to setup for OSW SIMCUBE
Looks good. And most importantly...Fun!
I have pre ordered dirt 2.0 hope I’m going to Like it, dirt rally I have which is a good game challenging but fun, dirt 4 I like too and WRC 5,6,7. Also love Colin McRae dirt 1 and 2. I will be on a pad. Hopefully I will enjoy it
I got Dirt 4 last year and I’m okay at the game on default settings. I’m a casual player just getting into rally stuff. Then I got Dirt Rally 2.0 because it was free on PS4 and that game is just crazy hard. I even put all the assists all the way up and the cars still just slide everywhere and I have no control. I’m trying to figure out what I’m doing wrong. It took me about 20 tries just to finish the first career race lol
Im like you. I like driving games, but I am NO expert.
I got dirt 4 back out a while ago and was getting good at it and thought I was becoming a "serious" sim Racer. Hahaha! Nope.
Got dirt rally 2.0 a couple of weeks ago and I am NOTHING! Think I'm doing a bit better than you, but not much.
Have you improved since 2 months ago?
Have you tried RWD cars in the wet??
My main "tip" (but like I say, I'm NOT good) is that you can't just hammer the accelerator and throw the car into corners. Learn to go at 80% and then see if you can take a bit more risks.
LKeet6 I’m glad I’m not the only one lol but no a few days after I made that comment I deleted the game. I heard Dirt Rally 2.0 was made more for using a steering wheel and I use a controller so maybe that’s what our problem is. But maybe I’ll try that game again.
@@stxfxn the reviews I read say it works fine with a pad! I use a pad!
I even heard of a guy who got to the highest difficulty playing with a keyboard on PC!
The game is just VERY hard and requires patience.
Good luck :)
Great vid chap ! U got a new sub :)
Btw, Am I the only person who enjoyed Dirt 4 ? Infact I actually enjoyed Dirt 4 (using a Thrustmaster TMX pro) than I did playing Forza Horizon 4 !
I will definately be getting Dirt Rally 2.0 tho !! Looks amazing !
I'm playing both atm and I almost enjoy dirt 4 more idk why
ONE QUESTION: How do you do to get the "auto" stage ending and not having to bring the car to the official like in the first version? I have looked for this and I can't find it anywhere, only reducing the braking after the finish.
Dirt Rally and my triple screen set up always looked horrible no matter what I tried. Anyone have feedback on triples for this?
Also, is the menu navigation completely console biased like it was with F1 2018?
well, I have opposite exp. here, on DC4 I just drive, cars keep up the road as in my real car, in DC2 theres no way to drive few meters not feeling you are on the ice... no calibrations, settings help. I wish it could be adjustable.
it´s the funniest first 13 seconds of a youtube video I´ve ever seen
Well said
What are you using for Force Feedback settings?
My question
Which is closer to real life dirt 4 or dirt rally 2.0?
What wheel are you using there?
Physics are pretty good
well issue on DiRT 4 you need upgrade higher staff member to get it better on cars. default setup on DiRT 4 makes every cars go understeer alot. and if you doesnt have any higher staff member on your team you can't tunes car wider.
so you need play game until you get higher ranking staff member to get it done then if you tune the car most car felt same as DR 1 and 2.0
but issue is DiRT 4's random track generator i know its bit neat idea but executed boringly i seen several same looking place, same looking corners, same looking terrain all over again thankfully WRX has licensed track but obviously DiRT 4 AND DR DR2.0 is WRX Licensed rally game thats expected
Seriously, the car looks like it's driving on rails. The ride looked so smooth without any feeling of movement. I was closely looking at the bonnet, or the Hood if you're American and there were no physics showing the bumpiness of the track at all.
He has his camera movements to 0, basically it's moving with the car's chassis. Looking at the bonnet / hood with the setting set like this isn't gonna tell you anything :'D
Is the difference like comparing assetto corsa to forza horizon 4 or assetto corsa to the crew 2?
Well done.
I really wish more people spoke in terms of car modeling and physics. They are very different and separate things. And people often confuse them. Physics is easy. Physics even in lesser fidelity sims are pretty damn accurate. It's the car modeling that is the difficult point to hit. Cars are really complex. Simulating a generic car accurately is a lot of work. And then cars are also really sensitive, trying to tune the car model to have the same characteristics are it's counter part? Even more so. Small changes can make big differences.
That is a big bulk of the handling differences here. The physics has remained fairly consistent through out all dirt games. Even the ones that aren't sims. Usually they just simplify the car models and how the different physics inputs can effect parts of the car.
A "sim" that's less accurate than Dirt Rally is just cconsequently not accurate with reality. RBR NGP is the benchmark.
I was so looking forward to this new dirt rally especially as I recently upgraded from my g29 to a thrustmaster TGT to which I must say is an awesome piece of kit so much more realistic than my g29 and has literally made playing all my racing games a whole new and a much better experience now ive only played 6 hrs on dirt rally 2.0 as opposed to 4000 miles on dirt rally but to be honest I think the handling model is better on dirt rally you feel much more what the cars doing and just seems better also the graphics on dirt rally 2.0 seem to look more like a painted cartoon canvas just my opinion maybe the game will grow on me ?? its certainly different to dirt rally but no way is it better !!
yeah this was my first feeling when I played it.. I'm surprised there isn't any one else talking about it. 🤔🤔🤔
Been Microphone i agree with both of you. I’m playing both and i love dirty rally and when i play 2.0 im not having as much fun and the cars don’t feel as dynamic either
Only thing i feel is not right about this game is that it sometimes feels like there is some sort of traction control still active even though you've switched it off. The throttle response feels really sluggish in a power slide. Specially in 3rd gear. In modern rally cars throttle response should be punchy as hell. In Dirt rally 2 it feels like theres loads of turbo lag in a 3rd gear power slide. Even on wet loose surfaces you cant make the wheels spin up and youre waiting ages for the revs to come up. Richard burns rally felt about right to me with regards to throttle response when the car was sliding. You could spin up the wheels during a slide then ease off a bit on the power if you were rotating the car too much on a bend. Its like Codemasters thought people would be spinning the car out all the time if they gave us true throttle response with the cars, so they added in some turbo lag. I dont get why they did that. More throttle response equals more control over the car.
I think the tire model is really great now (except tarmac), but the suspension movement needs work. Look at how the tires move when the car stops before starting a stage. It looks off. Dirt Rally 1 had the issue too. Look at Richard Burn's Rally's suspension movement. It's the best I've seen so far. I have played the Dirt Rally 2.0 game. The tires seem to clip into the ground instead of using tire deformation.
For tire deformation there is only two options: Live For Speed and rFactor 2.
@@getsideways7257 Yes, I have those. Don't forget Rig of Rods. There is another game that does it, but I forget which one.
I, i played in 3rd person camera and when was driving on some more serious ground deformations, the car was repeating exactly every pot hole and bumps like it had no suspension at all. It reminded me of NFS carbon and most wanted games lol. It ruins immersion :(
Traction control on modern rallycars? Which ones??
Do we know if steam version will get VR support or will it only be on oculus store ?
agreed. this is a really big deal. all the vr players with any sense are currently holding back on purchasing the game until they hear how the vr support is being implemented. codies are losing money there, they should just let us know. ideally it will be a free patch for all versions. but you never know.. it could be only on oculus store or it could be paid dlc. or even a seperate game on steam... that would all suck but its possible. and i dont want to buy the game twice. i guess theres a silver lining though.. by the time they announce how its going to work etc the game might be cheaper on sale ;-)
What's with the spinning front wheels at 5:10? The car is RWD.
Have he orig and im terrible 😀 but i do enjoy the game but i like driving on asphalt so wonder will we ever get a realistic grid... ?
Never played a rally game before a played this and almost cried lol it’s intensely hard someone help
Did you get it for free on ps4 too?
Play with steering wheel
@@eathstrke4016 Wow, helpful, that's like getting guitar hero without that shitty plastic guitar.
in WRC I have felt the cars are heavy BUT Dirt rally 2.0 did one thing perfect, They have mixed the heavy cars into more realistic physics. In WRC games there is hardly any difference between rallying in gravel or snow but in Dirt rally and rally 2.0 the difference is clearly felt..
Wow we have now pro video about compare this 3 titles.
I hit subscribe but now I'm all girth and no thrust. Just like the ladies like amirite fellas
Wait? Where are the menu's??!!
this video is fake , used CGI to hide the menues
Its a physics review bud. Menus don't deal much with physics.
I’m a little bit disappointed. I liked and subscribed and I am still waiting for the extra Thrust and Girth 😞. Oh well. Can’t wait to get finally play this and looks like Codemasters did a great job.
Same
did you say the game is coming out tonight??? what am i missihng?? its says its released on the 26th???
So does it close that magical gap between Richard Burns & Dirt Rally physics? I'm curious if they improved the bogged down feeling accelerating out of corners as well?
he mentioned the bogging specifically has been improved
Dalton Bedore Ahh okay I also missed the live stream so I am a m playing catchup.
МД61К ЩЮУ58ЯЮУЩ are you happy with the physics in general? Is it an improvement over original Dirt Rally?
МД61К ЩЮУ58ЯЮУЩ awesome! I am going to buy it right now, I know there are some online issues but I need to try this. Thanks for detailed reply!
Dirt 2.0 looks far too easy, no real sense of car control like it may aswell be tarmac ironic for a game with Dirt in the title. I really enjoy Dirt Rally because it is hard but nothing about 2.0 draws me in its basically easy mode
So all in all - not a great difference between 2.0 and Dirt Rally. Just got Dirt Rally for "dirt" cheap on PS4.
There's a good difference, dr2 has more mass, inertia, u can feel it how the cars shift and slide on direction changes and on landing from jumps it's harder with a more believable reaction, unbalancing it, also on braking it more shifts weight and can unbalance it, which is good in my view. But also the tires feel like digging in the dirt, and there is stage degradation depending on your starting position.
The titles states clearly "DIRT RALLY 2.0 VS DIRT 4 & DIRT RALLY"
So a quick question - does this make GamerMuscle a dirty, dirty, DIRTY MAN!!! ;D
Could anybody relay this question to Codies: Why could these games not have modding posibilities for people wanting to make the game more realistic? The talent out there is insane, just look at Assetto Corsa and RBR NGP etc. But is there something proprietary or practical that makes this hard? I don't think it'd hurt sales at all and it would add to the longevity of the game (which they might not be interested in...)
licensing and support is often the main reason.
Dirt Rally and Dirt 4 are both great games...as long as you like the feeling of racing hover-crafts.
So is Dirt 2.0 better than dirt 4? I want to have one installed, but won’t bother with the other
Are there snow courses?..
I still haven't seen the small cat
2:50 you talk about the wait of cars being a problem in the first Dirt Rally. Which physics is more realistic. Dirt Rally 1 or Dirt Rally 2?

2
But i want less girth in my rally car

Im managing to get 3rd/4th place in dirt rally 1 with controller so far as a clubman.
No. I use a controller and works fine.
So you're telling me I won't be doing 3 unintentional kickflips in a single stage?
(PC/pedals and wheel) Can you change control so you can use the clutch as hand brake ? You couldn't do that in dirt 4,
You could do it in dirt rally, so i hoped that you could do it again in dirt rally 0.2. DON'T WANT TO WASTE MY MONEY ! AGAIN
One thing that Dirt4 really gets right is that I can maneuver through the menus using the buttons on my wheel, and don't need a mouse or a keyboard. Dirt Rally games don't seem to be as accommodating in that regard, why not? This is on a PC, of course.
On Fanatec all controls now work and you can easily navigate through menus.
It always worked for me, t150, t300 and now csw2.5

The unavoidable question... Compared to RBR with ngp physics?
I'd say feels pretty close. Not sure why there is the need to bring up either DR1 or D4 at all, since this feels much more like NGP to me than it does resemble DR.
