- Esperanto is a language. It is neutral because it doesn't belong to any single group of people or country. It is international and mainly useful for communication among people from several countries. It is egalitarian and easier to learn than national languages. It evolves and flourishes just like other languages, and can be used to express every aspect of human thought and feeling. It is relatively young, pioneered by Ludoviko Lazaro Zamenhof in 1887. A unique, rich and living language it is highly esteemed by many people throughout the world. Esperanto is still not very well known, so this is the reason for this film.
I'm from Malaysia, and I think it's easy to learn. And there is a large speaking community in Indonesia, China, Japan and various other Asian countries. The fact that Esperanto take a lot of words from Latin roots is not a problem at all to us.
We, the rest of the world, do not have the same racist codescending mindset like that of the Europeans.
Just nouns. Adjectives are -a, adverbs are -e. Most verbs in -s, imperatives in -u, infinitives in -i. Plurals are -j, and accusatives are -n. Some prepositions, numbers, etc. end in -s, -k, or -u.
75% of root words are from Latinic roots. Most of the rest are from Germanic roots.
However, the grammar is nothing like any of the Romantic languages.

No, the grammar is entirely based off of Romance languages. It has verb inflection and an accusative case. What Romance languages have you studied that make you arrive at that conclusion?
The grammar is also agglutinative though, a trait it shares with no Indo-European language - the closest languages to Europe with this trait would likely be Turkish, Georgian, or perhaps Basque.
@Moose6960 ikr, i speak spanish and it kinda sucks but i am still learning it because its the international language. This is the fourth language i am learning.

emzademon. Although much of the vocabulary of Esperanto is similar to than of Latin, its grammar is quite different.
For example, 'I see the father' is 'Patrem video' in Latin and 'Mi vidas la patron' in Esperanto.
'The father sees me' is 'Pater me videt' in Latin and 'La patro vidas min' in Esperanto.
'I see the fathers' is 'Patres video' in Latin and 'Mi vidas la patrojn' on Esperanto.
'The fathers see me' is 'Patres me vident' in Latin and 'La patroj vidas min' in Esperanto.
'I see the mother' is 'Matrem video' in Latin and 'Mi vidas la patrinon' in Esperanto.
'The mother sees me' is 'Mater me videt' in Latin and 'La patrino vidas min' in Esperanto.
'I see the mothers' is 'Matres video' in Latin and 'Mi vidas la patrinojn' in Esperanto.
'The mothers see me' is 'Matres me vident' in Latin and 'La patrinoj vidas min' in Esperanto.
'I saw him' is 'Eum vidi' in Latin and 'Mi vidis lin' in Esperanto.
'He saw me' is 'Me vidit' in Latin and 'Li vidis min' in Esperanto.
this is the first time I heard of esperanto.
@AtraxTrh At first, I thought the same, but it convinced me that learning the language can be hard for everyone if that happens. I'm Korean and I'm learning Esperanto myself. But, I don't think it is hard to learn.

how do you know it's easier than English? plus,English has become internet and program language now! Java,html,C++,python,javascript ect.
I don't see any hope of Esperanto becoming a global language,plus,it sounds like Spanish,i guess spanish people might have a better understanding of this language!
Yeah, as someone who can code html, I can tell you now that you don't need to know English to understand it. You will need to know latin letters, but many languages use it, including Esperanto.

I like Esperanto. i had considered learning it before - now i really want to learn it.
Where do i find: learning material, software that aids in pronaunciation - and writting Esparanto, and of course a dictionary - my native language is danish?

That's the point!
Remember that China has like millions of dialects, and the major languages of that region (Korean, Chinese, Japanese) has very little in common, and the fact that they all hate each other.
To them Esperanto is a very useful tool for communication. They don't care that it sounds weird to you Europeans. They don't care that it is artificial and synthetic and not natural. What matters is that it WORKS!!!

esperanto comes from europe, that means europeans will learn it easier than asians right? so much for the international language... one should involve languages from all around the world when creating a language... try again!
This is why people invested new languages like Pandunia, Globasa, and Lidepla. I hope they get more attention.

I like the language and the idea, but it's not useful at all for things like 'science' (I saw it in another video). The language of science nowadays is English. I'm not saying that this can't change, but at the moment, Esperante is useless for science.

Esperanto is a copy of Turkish grammar. The word roots are from European langueages but the grammar is just the copy of Turkish grammar.
Bahadır Kaya. Although Esperanto is agglutinating like Turkish, the morphemes which make an Esperanto are unchanging whereas in Turkish there are alternative forms which are selected according to the other sounds of the word.
okulisto, koridoro, are present in Russian, I think. Optika in Hungarian, I'm sure. I can't find any Chinese one (well, the international one for martial arts eg.), nor Japanese, nor Swahili, nor Icelandic... well, let's make an Esperanto with 12000 from 6000 languages, it is fairer, isn't it? Did you find many hungaria words in English? or only English words?

in China several hundreds of millions Chinese are learning the real lingua franca of the planet: English/Globish. English/Globish is the fastest growing language in the world. The question is also not if Chinese or Spanish can take over (totall nonsense, they reach both soon the demographic peak) but if India will be the next biggest English speaking country or at first China ... not to mention heavy populated and growing states like Pakistan (English) or Bangladesh (English) or Nigeria (English) .... they have also each local languages but they are not relevant. in Europe English is the most spoken and used language (before German) and btw: it continues to be the fastest growing as well. it is in almost all countries the next language behind the local language. often it is already more used. in Berlin English is on the street already the inofficial second language. same in Amsterdam, same in Paris, same in Stockholm, same in Warschau, same in Moscow (English is also in Russia the next language and growing) and the youth in Spain and France are also learning more and more English ... the old unopen people without any knowledge of English are dying out on the contrary ... some first studies say something about that 2020 there will be over 4 billionen English speaking people in the world. And no: Esperanto is no replacement. and btw. neither neutral nor a complete language...
You discourses on some (dubious) facts. But no thought about what is good for people to minority cultures on the linguistic equality and on a fair and equal world. You say only empty words.

esperanto will still be a secondary language for him, so he will feel like a swede who is using esperanto, the same would go for the korean and brazilian.
I've listened to alot of videos using esperanto also read some articles in esperanto. I'm a romanian and the language annoys me deeply, I don't want to hear it ever again. It may sound good or exotic to non-latininized language speakers, but to a latin-based language speakers it sounds bad, unharmonized
