    Good information
    As a side note:
When marking trails, place the duct tape (or any preferred material) on both sides of the tree so you can follow same path back.
And, any reference to duct tape should also mention the Mythbusters TV show!!

Regarding duct tape for patching clothing and tarps/tents, use the tape as a patch for both the interior and exterior, then use your mini sewing kit to permanently fix the patch in place. Then you dont need to worry about the tape losing its stickiness over time due to moisture or dirt.
Also, you can use two pieces of tape with raised seams plus your sewing kit to mimic sutures if you have a larger cut. This process will keep the wound closed a lot better than just tape and bandages, and its obvious better and has lower risk of infection than actually trying to suture your skin in the field.

Generally one should not put the duct tape all the way around a limb to avoid the tourniquet effect.

Another would be a duck tape sling, you could also put that sling on a poll and increase the distance and force of the duck tape sling, you can use it for both hunting and self defense from a distance but with any one thing practice makes perfect....

If you apply a bandaid to a cut, a small piece of duct tape will keep it secure while working, (if you wrap all the way around, don't cut of the circulation). If you have a hole in your glove fingertips, you can repair it. Shoe falling apart, quick temporary fix. Seal flashlights. Keep some on a used up gift card in your pocket. Used it to adhere notes to damaged equipment, steering wheels, etc. Used it to hold a printer door shut. Etc.

I am an advid camp/kayaker. I use Gorilla tape for patching my kayak if I hit a rock in the rapids and it makes a hole...I have used duct tape to repair a tarp over my tent in windy/raining conditions...when my paddle broke in the middle of an 80 mile kayaking trek, I used the tape to repair the paddle so that I could continue with my journey.

Shoes. Duct tape can extend the life of shoes that might otherwise fall apart too soon. If stores aren't selling, making whatever footwear you have last longer could be helpful.

Although often considered as a joke, duct tape is 1 out of 2 things engineers liked.
If something shouldn't be moving, but it is, use duct tape.
The other way around, is if something should be moving, but it didn't, use WD-40
