Hi. I really like your videos. Thank you very much! Can you comment on the accuracy of the results from the parameter sweep at the end. Is each result of the 36 combinations, as accurate as if I performed a new Momentum Microwave Sim. Thanks!
Hi Jerome, There will no loss of accuracy here as Momentum or FEM (depending on your setup) will be performed for every parameter combination when you run this parametric simulation behind the scene. Just that you are using Schematic components to run parameter sweep but behind the scene it is perform relevant EM simulations. Hope this clarifies...👍
If I want to parametrize any shape, not a standard part, is it possible to do that? Say I want to build my own GCPW line out of rectangles, can I assign a variable to the width and length? It doesn't seem to work.
sure you can but the process is little different and its called nominal/perturb method. You can get an idea from this video: ua-cam.com/video/4xR0vrOv75Y/v-deo.html
I think I've got the answer of the question I asked in previous video regarding doing a parametric optimization on layout as we do on schematic. Hope to see more in coming videos.
Hi Sir, How i can add a variable with 2 values l1 et l2 to get all the combinations, because the simulation gives to me the results sweep for l1 alone and for l2 alone.
Kindly refer to this video to understand multi-dimensional sweeps: ua-cam.com/video/su81CY8byGo/v-deo.html, next video in this list talks about manage multi-dimensional data in the data display. Hope this helps.
Hi, Anurag, Im doing the same thing witha spiral inductor. The softawre simulate the structure as a function of dimension variations but I can't see the results in the same plot.
Hi Dear Anurag, thanks alot again for very useful and productive videos. in my layout with specific library which i have it, i need to have MRSTUB. So i use from Tlines-Microstrip which you use in this video. Now the question is how can i change its material ?
Any microstrip component using the material definition from MSUB block that you place on schematic. It is no different than any other microstrip component
Dear sir I am designing a bandpass filter using a circular bend. But when I go for full-wave simulation and simulate it. Its skip the boundary of my design. Please guide me on how to do meshing if one has a design in a circular shape.
Hi Bilal, If you are using Momentum then you can set Arc Resolution in the emSetup Preprocessor setting. Setting it to lower value will follow the shape more closely but sim time might be increased due to more mesh cells. In my experience anything lower than 20deg doesn't make too much different but you can give it a try with various settings and see the performance to know good setting to use for your design
Great video Sir... I have a query though If I want to optimize the l1 and l2 variable by setting goals for insertion and return loss in the schematic. Can it be done?
Yes, absolutely. As long as you have parametric component placed in schematic, you can optimize it in schematic like you do for any circuit. Only difference would be that for every iteration an EM simulation will be performed in the background so you need to be little patient before you obtain the results. This is the reason why I usually recommend to perform nested parameter sweep with fixed step size for the variables and then do optimization only if you can't get the right value combination in parameter sweep for your desired results.
If you use Impedance Matching Utility then there is a option to convert L,C into TL but as such no general utility exists. However, it is not very difficult thing to do and you can write your own equations in Schematic or Data Display to do so and these equations are available in many text books or portals.
Followed these steps and getting the following error when running sweep: Fatal error occurred while evaluating model 'MomCmpt', instance 'X1.em_data'. Clarification appreciated.
Gerard tutorial Sir. Where I go for EM->Component->Parameters... I get an error which says that ‘This parameter creation dialog is not supported in Interoperability Mode. Hi Berkay, Thanks correct. It seems you created workspace in interoperable mode and not native ADS. Kindly create a workspace in normal ADS mode and then it should work fine.
@@BhargavaAnurag Thank yolu for the response. However even though I create a new workspace and choose Choose ‘Use technology compatible with ADS only’ while I am creating it, I still got the some error. How can I solve this problem? Which step could I made a mistake?

There was a problem flattening the netlist. Error when evaluating parameter "l1" of cell "ADSLecture_lib:Tutorial_22_Introduction_to_ADS_Layout". Why is it having problem with that variable? the standalone layout simulation works fine.
I fixed it. somehow having the same variable name in the schematic was creating some confusion. I had to use different variables in the schematic and it worked.
You can refer to ADS documentation for more details and application. In short, if you have geometry less than lamda/2 then you could simulate it with MoM-RF. Momentum RF does't take radiation into account as this is based on quasi-static assumptions. Momentum MW is general purpose and can be used for any geometry you want but for smaller structures Mom-RF gives huge speed advantage.
