Acoustic treatment, expensive studio monitors, subwoofer, outboard gear, and even pricey third-party plugins are all UNECESSARY.
That's right, you don't need any of that stuff.
Trust me, I practice what I preach.

Goosebumps were the real deal
It’s incredible that you’re able to get musicians in to record in that setup. It just goes to show - the ability to manage projects and lead people is way more important than gear or even skills. Granted, skills are needed to manage projects
Man! You have changed! All for good, you have teach me everything about music bobby! Thanks for all your effort
Happy to hear that!
What the hell I can‘t believe that‘s the monitors you mix on. This is fucking awesome dude, your channel really helps to deconstruct my believes about audio production.
Guess you’ve heard the mixes and they’re good then?
You made me feel i'm on the right track 😁
Please be very careful with that puzzle box on your desk!!! 😂
Man... I love simplicity. And, Bobby, of all the mixing channels I'm suscribed, this is the only one that really helped me understand mixing... You make it simple, to the point and being honest. I salute you very respectfully, my friend! And a big thank you, allways! 🤘🤘
So happy to have been a help!
That Goosebumps series was soo good! And that room looks very comfortable as well
Horror media is a big influence on me too, all my music is horror based. Mainly from games like Doom, Blood, Quake, Wolfenstein, Dusk, etc rather than movies although i have started to slowly get into the old movies haha
Once more, you prove that gear is not important, sharpening your skills and embracing the system you're using is the key. Nice one Bobby 🤟
Excellent video like always Bobby. You have an amazing home studio, and you get the awesome results that you want. In the end that is the whole point.
Scary stories to tell in the dark is God tier. Especially the art
I agree! I still love that artwork to this day.
Damn, you’re very serious and you really know your stuff I’m impressed! Wish there was somebody with that talent when I was in my 20s. Wouldn’t hurt to have modern equipment too. I was just born too damn early…lol
I agree, 100%, good studio, good content.
Love the setup, and I have learned so much from your content. Keep it up! 🤘🏼😎
Glad to hear it!
Such a lovely creative space you got there! If you ever upload those VHS rips somewhere please let me know. I'm constantly looking for that stuff to play on my retro TV 🎃📺
As a huge horror fan and musician I appreciate your videos a lot. Majority of my music is influence by 70s and 80s Italian horror and giallo.
Keep making great videos.
You da goat
Halloween III poster… nice! :)
Damn your cable management is impressive
I’m not a guitarist but I would love to start adding guitars to my productions.
Any suggested guitar libraries? And maybe a programming tutorial?
Ideally I would hire someone to play the parts I write before release, but I would like the samples to be as good as possible just incase budget doesn’t allow that.
I think the secret to a good mix is having a Lament Configuration on your desk :D
Man, put a gate on that mic!😂
And everything works out great until you start rubbing that Lamentation Configuration. That will put some spice in your weekends! Thanks for the tour, I love to see rigs and spaces that are efficient and effective.
😂
Hi BOBBY QUICK QUESTION YOUR KICK SNARE BASS ARE OBVIOUSLY IN MONO DO SEND THEM TO MONO AUXES FOR TREATMENT THEN ON TO THE STEREO DRUM BUSS HOPE THATS OK TO ASK MANY THANKS
I don't send them to mono auxes since that would make things way too complicated. I just treat the individual tracks and send them to stereo submixes. Hope that helps!
thanks for the reply Bobby thats the way i've always done it was just wondering. Quality of your mixes are fabulous goes to show if you know what your doing don't need expensive gear Thank you
Nino
Hey bobby, i noticed you use the ezdrummer metal machine drum library.. have you ever used mixwaves jay weinberg drum library? I think it slays any ezx drum library. That's just my opinion. Should try it dude.. it has both mixed and unmixed options if you want a more hands on approach.
In all honesty, I usually just replace the EZdrummer sounds with my own raw samples, so it doesn't matter what I use as far as midi drums.
@@FrightboxRecording ah okay.. well that makes sense 👍
I've only got standard pc speakers with a sub woofer. Should I get rid of the sub when mixing?
As long as you know your setup inside and out, that's all that matters. I mixed with a sub for years before moving to this setup and got the same results.
Dang I need that lament configuration. Where'd you get that ?
That's a good question! I got it as a bday gift from my sister, so I'll have to ask her where she got it.
What movie was playing on the tv? I recognize it, but can't place the name.
The Mask (1961)
Great vid, take a close look at your electricity. Sounds like a electrical phasing issue causing noise floor...
I'm just an idiot and had an extra input being fed into my video capture software when shooting the vid 🤦🏻
The new Poeta record sounds incredible. Why aren't they a bigger deal?
I agree! They're honestly one of my favorite bands. So many great songs.
Probably because nobody listens to rock and or metal anymore. It’s only a small minority of us rockers left in this world.
It goes to show you don't need to be in a fancy room to make good mixes
My dude, did you know there is a raging hum on your SM7 segments? You selling audio services and knowledge? You might want to tighten that shit up some.
There was an issue with my video capture software that I wasn't aware of till after the upload...oh well! Most people don't care if they're getting useful information.
Yeah but this is like a car detailer pimping his services with a custom vinyl wrap on the car but showing up with bird shit on his hood. I heard it immediately. It doesn’t confer legitimacy on your brand. The fact it showed up on your “lead vocal” is especially unflattering.
Think it needs some work for sure! Monitors behind the computer monitor seems like an obvious odd choice sorry it’s just weird to me to boast how careless the set up is.
Your albums would sound 1,000 times better if you were using ATC 150 monitors with Lavry Gold conversion and a Bricasti M7 Reverb, for mastering duties get yourself a BuzzAudio EQ, Hum Audio LAAL and a Unfairchild compressor. What you do with your cheap crap stuff is OK if all you want is amateur results. But you are never going to get on the radio with that garbage you have.
hey man your space looks great. how come your monitors aren't at ear height? im a noob but always heard that's where you want them
These are desktop monitors meant to be placed on a desk. They tilt upwards and they're actually closer to ear level than you'd think.
@@FrightboxRecording awesome thanks for the info
How many of these videos that are the same shit are you going to make? How many more times are you going to say the you can be an awesome producer/mixer, whatever you call yourself with very little or bullshit equipment?
Many many many more :)
@@FrightboxRecording waste of time
@@FrightboxRecording you are also a clown.
