Awesome, with all he went through back in the day, I'm super stoked for Don. Time to shoot him an email and see if he remembers me :P -GK team rider from '88 to '92
I was born in 87 90's skater that still skates still have my old grind king originals and my grindking tool but the bearing puller on mine is blue grind king for life and keep shredding rad great to see you back
That's crazy, YOU did this. You made the video that he came across that made him realize people still cared about the brand and he came back into it all because of that - that's crazy.
Hell yeah. I’m stoked for him bringing the company back. Also, I’d love to see a video of brands that didn’t last. Like things from our era. Tensor, destructo, ect. Basically brands that fell off. Great video. Proud of you. Keep it up.
Loved Grind King! Had AXL trucks before. Base plate broke on one of the trucks after 2 years of use, sent it in and they sent me a completely new set! Broke a king pin sometime later and found out they were no longer in business.
I used to get the kingpin kits for my Venture Featherlights, since the stock pins never lasted. Then I switched to the GK trucks. Blown away and was loyal till the end. GK for life!
I always had a hard time keeping my grind kings tight enough because of the allen head, but they definitely eliminate the kingpin bite. I love my Independent trucks, though.
@@ashton35 It really might. The old school 90s styles are super trendy and respected again in the skate scene. I can see new pros and established pros wanting to be on GrindKing's team for sure.
Yea dude I'm stoked GK is back! I remember back in the day me and my homies would all skate GK and I'm just getting back into skating too so I'm excited :)
Yes, the chromoly trucks (the inventor didn't like that G&S started making them in China, thereby losing quality control. He then founded San Diego truck co. but they never took off. Bring em back!
I skated my set-up with the Grind King Disruptors and they're fine. They do require a lot of lean before they can turn like Ben De Gros has stated in his Grind King reviews. It does take some getting used to for me. I found my Venture Worrest Awake 5.8 trucks to be more responsive in turning. So far these Grind Kings a nice change of pace. Also the loud squeaking was due to the pivot cups for me. Since I don't have the tool to remove the inverted kingpin to then put wax in the pivot cups I sprayed Silicone Waterproof WD-40. It is safe on plastic and did the job. No more annoying squeaks. Didn't have an issue with the current bushings but I don't skate anywhere near as good as Red Rat.
I'm looking forward to adding these trucks to a new deck. The last pair of trucks I had were Grind Kings. I stopped skating a while a go, but recently got back into it and broke both of my trucks last November. So I suppose I'll be waiting a little while longer.
Wow, I love how innovative the designer of GK is with his products. He really puts thought into his products. These trucks looks awesome and they’re different whips super cool. He just needs to sponsor a couple good guys and see if he can get them to rep him. There’s no doubt the trucks are sweet, it’s just a matter of making people realize that by getting a sick team together. Like, can you imagine if antuan Dixon rocked these? That’s all it would take is that one guy, and his trucks would sell! I hope his company takes off again! He deserves to have this company last!
Yeah, definitely interested. Had a pair or two back in the 90s and I really liked GKs. THe problem was mainly their availability here where I live. Had to order them abroad. Lately I've been skating with Ace 33 and 44 and I honestly think they are the best modern trucks out there at the moment. If you're tired of Indy and Thunder, I recommend trying a pair of Aces. That said, I wish all the best for Gring King's comeback.
*VIDEO IDEA.*.. Is there any history behind Supreme (the clothing brand) ripping off Powell and Peralta? I'm old and for the first few years in the 90's I thought Supreme WAS a part of Powell, being Powell had nearly the same block label years before Supreme as the world knows it started.
COINCIDENCE I THINK, POWELL DID A SUPREME SHIRT IN A BOX LOGO, DOESN'T REALLY LOOK LIKE THE SUPREME VERSION, BUT WAS ONLY AROUND LATE 80S. SUPREME THE SHOP IN NY CAME A FEW YEARS LATER AND EVEN THOUGH THEIR BOX LOGO HAS SIMILARITIES TO POWELLS SHIRT, NO ONE WAS CHECKING FOR POWELL THEN AND THAT SHIRT IS ONLY NOTICIBLE IN HEINDSIGHT AS IT MAKES YOU THINK OF SUPREME. WHEN IN REALITY THAT SUPREME SHIRT WAS SHORT LIVED AND NOT REALLY POPULAR. I NEVER SAW ANYONE WEARING THAT SHIRT IN REAL LIFE, JUST THE SPONSORED GUYS IN POWELL VIDS... SO NO ITS JUST A COINCIDENCE AND BECAUSE OF WHAT SUPREME IS NOW ITS NOTICIBLE BUT AT THE TIME NO ONE CARED
Yeah, it crushed into my board instead of snapping it. I am a board snapper. Used to piss of my sponsors. I just broke an old bullet board I got after breaking my board. I later got a pair of GK Stage 8 or 9's (could be wrong on model) and I finally broke that board yesterday. Except all it did was crush in at the truck plate and split the back tail. I could still ride it for a while if I wanted, but I just started using it and a balance board deck. :). Anyway the anti break worked. Thanks again @ Donald Cassel. Still the best GK my dude. Bring it back to the Circle Skates days when you get board of grabbing and developing realestate (Of course, I know you wont get tired of it, but let's get some more GK out there).
I going to get two sets of those pre-ordered jobs! Think about it.... Just coming back into the industry, they made great shit 20 years ago..... they're going to make sure that those first batches are PERFECT. After that some half ass will be finishing 800 of them a day and not give a damn. LOL
I would think the rounded baseplate needs to be on the outside (nose and tail) to help prevent board breakage. Generally if a deck snaps within the wheelbase it's breaking down and not up--so that whole karate chop analogy doesn't apply.
These trucks are great for the price, cheaper than other brands. Their light and low and i like the rounded base plate. The only problem i had was bushings are super loud brand new
Yo these are the trucks i got from So Hip It Hurts in Toronto, Canada. There’s apparently a huge scarcity of skate accessories in Canada and these were the only trucks that fit my size 8 deck.
Kind of disappointed he's not launching with any pattern trucks, but I understand its best to start small and grow. Anyways, glad to see an old school brand back.
George Kafiridis Lately they're pretty damn good - I just bought new Forged Titaniums, they came with white bushing and they turn just fine, usually I change my bushings to Bones Hardcore Mediums, but with Indy barrel bushings I get more stability, less wobble and a smoother turn (with Bones it can be a bit twitchy, probably better run them on Thunders, Ventures etc). I wish Bones would consider doing a barrel bushing version too, at the end I'll probably swap my top Indy bushings to Bones and leave the barrel or just rock the Indy after stock red ones (88a?) and of course it's all a matter of riding style and personal opinion.
I don't know the tool I just bought is soo old that there is still the grind king allen key on it or it is so new, that they added it to their tool. I think it is just an old design, since grind king isn't that popular right now. ^^ it's a pig wheel tool. the "triangle" one
Oh, and Rad Rat, thanks for being part of bringing these trucks back to market.
Im kinda happy to see grind king back. They were my first set of trucks.
This grind king design needs to be the absolute standard of trucks.

@Clever1er Judging by the shit "music" in your playlists, I'll take it as a compliment that you think I'm lame. Thanks for that!
grind king was all i rocked back then.. 94'-04'

My favorite truck brand, nice to see their back in the game!!
Nice! These are definitely going to be my next set of trucks.
I like the clean aesthetic of these Disrupter trucks.

Lol. What if they make a Fanniepack called the frontside 180
yooo
What if they Made a Prosthetic BUTT and named it Grind Queen?
What if they made a double Fannie back, front and back called the switch 69.
What if they made a high-end synthetic sex lube and called it the Primo Slide?

They brought back the Grind King tool!! I still have my old one!
EXCITED! SO ready for some new GK's. I think i want that backpack too!
I am definitely picking up a pair. One of my boards still rocks some grind king lows, and I wish they were still made.

I had one set of Grind Kings in 2000 and I remember the inverted king pin made my trucks loosen.
