I was 13 in 1983. I was trying to learn guitar from a Roy Clark songbook, and I was bored to tears. A friend took me to a thrift shop and I bought a John Lee Hooker album for $0.25. The cover looked cool... this old black guy with a guitar. I never heard of him. I put it on at home on a $3 record player. That changed the rest of my life.
Beautiful. Southern culture still exists in the small towns of the south. I'm blessed to be from Georgia and to have traveled the south as a salesman in my younger days. There is a dark underside to it. Hopefully, the light outshines the dark.

The first time I saw and heard B.B. King live, was in Heidelberg, circa 94-95'. It was in a smaller auditorium, the sound was fantastic and I literally had an out of body experience from the music... and no, I wasn't on drugs or alcohol. In the following days and weeks, when I was playing guitar, my friends would genuinely remark or compliment me on how much I had improved in my playing. I just smiled and felt blessed for the magic spell I experienced that night in Heidelberg and the subtle, yet profound effect it had in me.

Wonderful testimony ❤️
BB would've been the first to tell you that noone is "superior" to anyone else. Otherwise a very nice and appreciated document on probably the greatest thing that came out of the US
Great video
Lovely 💙
Watch Drink Small. Yes, that is his real name. He is also known as "The Blues Doctor" because he can play all styles. He is a SC treasure. I was able to hang with him on a few occasions. He let me not only hold his guitar, which he named Geraldine, he let me play her! I saw B.B. play in Charleston, SC! Great video! Thank you!
Super
Just...excellent.
Thanks!
Ah Lucie: Thank you so much. Videos that are this long sometimes don't catch on and I am hoping this one will because when someone watches it, experience as William Ferris describes it and shows it is just uniquely wonderful. Culture captured at a time and place where you can still, all these years later, feel it. I know that you know what I mean.

When in highscool, I would go down to fourth street in Clarksdale. The juke joints had the best barbecue with white bread.
Me too Sir. ❤️❤️😎😎🔥
Very good stuff my friend.
Our farm was across the highway from the commissary. My great uncle Johnny Nance farmed the land across the highway from my house.

always a joy, David. THANKS for recommending this one...
reminded me a little of this James Baldwin quote.......
>>>there is but one great difference between the Southern white and the Northerner: the Southerner remembers, historically and in his own psyche, a kind of Eden in which he loved black people and they loved him. Historically, the flaming sword laid across this Eden is the Civil War…..
wow a real tin beer can ! I remember those and guys could crush them in their hands...not too many guys could though.
HELLO DAVID HOFFMAN FROM HOLLYWOOD JOE !
The South. It all seems so charming when you leave out the lynchings and the church burnings and the rest of it.
Alright! The ferris wheel you promised!
This video was indeed quite the ride! So good that when it was done, I didn't want to get out of my seat! Cheers Miss Lucie on a Sublime Saturday!
