Quick update. I started doing this mod and could not get the parts to line up and go back together. However, it only took about 5 minutes to remove the black and silver backing screws and put the spring piston back together and another few minutes to put back all the screws. Its worth the extra effort to do it this way than taking a chance at breaking a plastic piece that you probably can't replace. I spent more time trying to get it to fit together than it did to take the back off and complete it this way. However, I recommend starting the procedure as noted in the video as it's much quicker than taking it all apart first.
Mate, this video needs way more views! Like a lot of people I just put up with the brake due to not trusting myself to not break/lose something if I took the whole thing to pieces. Doing it your way took less than 15 minutes start to finish (and that included me dropping one of the screws inside the housing and having to turn the whole thing upside down and shaking it about for five minutes to get it out). For anyone still struggling with getting the black bracket back in, it is a bit of a fiddle, but here's what I did: (instructions assume you are facing the rear of the pedal unit) 1:Put the spring into the red cup, pull it toward you (away from the pedal) and rotate it so that the spring coil is touching the top of the inside of the raised part of the plastic base housing at the point closest to you. 2: Put the Black Bracket onto the spring rotated 90 degrees counter clockwise from where you want it to end up (so the 'right' of the bracket is directly facing the pedal). 3: In one motion, push the Black Bracket down (into the red cup), forward (into the back of the pedal) and rotate it 90 degrees clockwise to line up with the pedal bracket. (This is why we lined the spring up in step one - the Black Bracket will track the coil of the spring and not get jammed between two coils). 4: Screw it back in (an extra pair of hands is useful but not required for this part). 5: Go Racing! Oh, and the Allen key you need is 2.5 in metric or 3/32 in old money.
For those having trouble getting the piece back in because the spring keeps catching on an edge before you pop it in all the way, try to bring the allen wrench around the back angle with the short bit as an extended finger while you wiggle the piece with your other hand. Make sure it's pointed up so it can pull the spring away from whatever edge it feels stuck on inside so you can slide the black piece all the way back down! This is so much better than taking the entire back apart. Thank you!
Thank you so much for this. Watched everyone else take the whole bottom off and just couldn't be bothered with it. This took 5 mins tops and already improving my lap times.
Great Vid mate, saved me alot of Time. Was about to return the Wheel cause it was nearly impossible to push the Brake all the way down. After removing the Rubber its perfect. Thanks.
how did it feel after removing the rubber? was it still slightly stiff or did the stiffness completely disappear? cuz I don't want it to be too stiff but then again I do not want it to feel like the clutch and the throttle
@@Nerfmeh1 No it makes the brake pedal 100x better, it took me 15 min max maybe 10 most annoying part was putting the black piece back to fit with the screws but yeah

My black cylinder part won't just 'pop out' with a wiggle, it's jammed between the back of the pedal and the plastic shroud of the base. Any help how to wiggle it out?
If you can’t get it back together this way, do a little homework and take it apart correctly. What’s the saying? There’s more than one way to cook a egg.
Hey all i lost access to my UA-cam untill recently would everyone like a more detailed video and ill get someone to hold the camera this time as i was doing it on my own last time
My brake pedal had a half inch of travel and was really stiff. It actually hurt my leg after a while. This made it much easier, but still the spring is very strong. Adjust the brake and gas pedal closer helps a lot with heel and toeing while you are at it.
This is doable, but it is a bigger pain in the ass than it looks getting the spring and plastic piece back in there. There's also a way to calibrate how hard you need to push the break to register 100% breaking force. You can set it up so that you hardly need to push it if that's how you want it.
@@p0wdrous it has to go in almost completely vertical and when you get it pushed down as far as it goes you angle it into the correct position. It was a lot quicker than ripping it apart, but it's a bigger challenge than it looks and it's not necessary since there's a software solution.
Walk away give it 5 minutes have a coffee go back try again sometime your own frustration is the cause of most problems so double check the edge with the most taper needs to go in that side
