This show is great, hard watch at times in a good way. Stylish, moody, dramatic but leaves out all the YA tropes and really tries to focus on the hyper realization of trauma, selfishness, harm, repressed feelings, violence, sex, addiction and so much more. And as this video displayed, incredibly crafted and cared for within the frame.
Both Better Call Saul and Euphoria have their own way of achieving ambitious visuals. BCS is well planned, engineered, and more mature on shots, season 6's tank scene was phenomenal. Plus those object-view shots are pretty unique and well thought out. Same for the writing and characters. Euphoria, on the other hand, achieves unique visuals from a gen-Z perspective. The entire show is almost like gossip or a long TikTok clip. Non-linearity of storytelling, shots, visuals, and character introductions all have this weird harmony in it. Sure it is too edgy, but this is not too farfetched from what gen-z folks like me experienced during their high school and college years. And visuals reflect all that very truely, all the flashiness and darkness, dips and peaks are all there showing an accurate portrait on that front. Though, I wouldn't call Euphoria "the most visually compelling show" tbh. It is definitely unique but in the league that it is in, there is no "the best". BSC and Euphoria are equally superb at what they are aiming to do with their visuals and overall storytelling.
Though Euphoria's Staging, Camerawork & Movement with Labyrinth's Legendary Tracks is Insane but....I have to say this BCS's Visual Storytelling is hands-down Perfection with insane editing, the use of Objects for psychology depiction of characters and Cuts that feels like a breeze best example is 6x09 opening before intro theme playing "Perfect Day" with insane well engineered cuts and they have so many montages like this.....The Cinematography of BCS is truly a gift for television viewers.
This is the second video on euphoria I watched on your channel, and wow I love your series so much! I definitely want to rewatch the first two seasons to prep for the third, and this gave me the momentum to start 😊
Probably the only show I've watched that does justice to the experience of being a teenager in 2022. Another thing I love about the show is its complexity. When it wants to it can slow things down and let the brilliant actors to their magic. The Christmas scene between Rue and Ali in the diner is some of the best writing and acting put to television in the last 20 years.
Sam is an absolute genius. Because it's a show about teenagers it doesn't get as much credit as it deserves but the direction and writing are incredible and Sam Levinson deserves emmy nominations for that. The camera angles are stunning and always make me wonder how they pulled it off.
I still feel conflicted about this show, it is no doubt beautiful, but i don't know if i can say the same about the writing, it is a bit, dramatic maybe, it felt like it was turbo charged on purpose, in the same way that sometimes bad directors put epic music to manipulate and try to pull emotions out of you in a scene, the show is good, but it could have been better if there was someone who could tell the show runner that sometimes less is more but maybe you have to do just to try and keep the attention of the audience.
I have never watched it but just from the clips you showed the camerawork seems heavily derivative of Casino and Goodfellas. The couple of scenes beginning at 2:37 are classic Scorcese, also Boogie Nights/ Magnolia era Paul Thomas Anderson. In fact the clips 2:43 which starts with a photographer snapping is lifted directly from Scorcese and latterly Anderson.
Well yeah I say in the video it’s moving like Goodfellas. The point is no other show combines all of these 7 qualities together. Even Goodfellas is 2 or 3/7
@@JustanObservation The moving, twisting camera on the staircase reminds me a lot of Gaspar Noe and particularly Irreversible. Good video anyway man, I've heard a lot about this show, all negative and focusing on the degeneracy. I didn't realise it was so visually dynamic.
I’ve heard a lot of young people are quitting social media and are willing to live a simple life again, I hope it works out. But at the same time, I like the time I live in.
@@zoeeb ok so if a crime and drama movie/tv show lover were to watch it, how would they feel? Cause if people who don't like violence anf nudity cant judge if a show is good or not like how scarface got poor reviews during its release cause of the strong R rating. I just wanna know if the show is any bad or how good it is so I can plan to watch it since people make it sound good enough
@@morbster6520 it’s a show about peoples vices, crimes are committed but it’s about relationships… people are triggered by it for culture war reasons. Watch the first season and see how you feel
Better Call Saul: Am I a fucking joke to you? Jokes aside. I hate how Euphoria keeps using cinematography as just vanity. Better Call Saul uses it to enhance the show. Watch any video about the shots of BCS.
Yeah you can tell how compelling this show is what with how nobody talks about it and this video got like 1/10 of the views your videos usually get. I can tell from a glance this show is garbage, why pretend otherwise?

Only reason why I watch it. Levinson is good at making shots and building drama, but S2 i feel wasn't satisfying in a narrative sense.
@Smurfgamr and wrote it to happen a day before it did🤦🏼♂️
I totally did not buy cassies sisters play.

Perfect comment. Maybe that’s one of the reasons these are the most memed shows rn.

great video. i find euphoria a bit boring in the narrative part but it definitely looks beautiful. would love to see your take on call me by your name
Euphoria would have never been close to perfect without labyrinth’s music!
PLEASE D NOT STOP DOING THESE OVERVIEWS! THEY ARE AMAZINHG

This is the 1st vid I’ve seen of yours & just this 1 vid got me to Sub😁
Another great show that uses visuals as narrative is Better Call Saul.
Great video as always🤌

The scene when she is surrounded by roses is a homage of the film Misnomer and the end when the main character is surrounded by flowers
This show made me wanna quit drugs and I've never done drugs in my life

Why are there so many euphoria haters or at the very least skeptics? Do we just hate kids that much as a society?
Euphoria is a music video, whilst Better Call Saul is cinema.
Well, guess I'm going to have to watch Euphoria now

Yes but some people have very strong negative feelings about it

Can you analyze The Idol? It’s pretty awful, but there are some redeemable scenes.
better call saul negs in visual department + everything 💀

a disgusting show that is beautifully shot. looking forward to next season.
I wouldn't call it disgusting. It's pretty graphic, sure, but it's also beautiful in a way and there are many great scenes and moments.
Visually compelling... yeah. Sydney Sweeny certainly helps with that.

Euphoria was disturbingly bad
I watch the show on mute .
Why?
Man I can’t bring myself to watch this show anyway I’d rather play the game it copied it’s name from
the lamest show on tv

Because it’s what I believe. Watch it with an open mind. It’s not for everyone. But it’s actually very popular
Euphoria... My mind is bad. I think of something wrong and japanese insteed. Quality .anime
