Excellent video! I read people claiming you must have expensive cymbals, but the more I’ve played, and improved my touch, different cymbals are just different voices. I’ve done gigs with K’s, and other gigs with Zildjian Planet Z and Meinl HCS cymbals. You can definitely get a lot of sounds out of a single cymbal, just like Nick shows, and it does not have to be an expensive cymbal. Different implements, magnets can add so many voices.
After playing drums for over 25 years I had never seen anyone use magnets on their cymbals until now. It makes so much sense to do it that way though so you can add or remove them as you see fit. Great idea! Great video, Nick.
I recently got a Tama Superstar Classic 7 piece kit with an older DW Side Snare before I found Sweetwater 😞. Then got all my Sabian HHX Complex Cymbals, Tama Dyna-Sync Series Twin Pedals, Avid MBOX Studio, Yamaha EAD, Xvive U4T9 Wireless System and so on from Sweetwater! 😎👍🏻
I played zildjian and Sabian for years.. then I switched to paiste, mainly the 2002 and signature lines, and never looked back. They cost more, but totally worth it.
Most of us share the same sentiments. We came here to study hard with the hope of retuning home after studies. Only to realize it's not worth it because of so many good reasons in Taiwan including safety, health care and the Money. As a young person without any real responsibilities back home, it would be difficult to leave this place. Great Video!!
Thanks for showing different products and techniques. Bring a fairly new drummer I have learning rock and blues beats. Started practicing but if jazz so instead of getting jazz cymbal the magnets might give a sound to practice with.
Although that might be what can be extracted out of this vid, as far as i can say, i currently use an old B8 rock ride, and a high end Sabian ride, both together always, so that i can select which sound source works better to each task; meaning, i mostly use the B8 to play more latin plus drum and bass driven styles plus rock. It really depends, and if you don't want to pay for for high end stuff, there is the Pro Sonix line (great in between line to experiment with, but hard to find due to it's already closed production line) and SBr 2 which is a gamble, but still; works out of a "Sabian budget" i must humbly say. Cheers
Hi, please can we know what was the 2 crashes and hats? I already know they are sabian anthology but wich 😊me: the low bell? High bell? Thank you for that wonderful video!

I’m with ya!
That’s a beautiful set of cymbals!
Great drummer.
He's so good I got a drum lesson from this video, I've never played my ride like he did but will now.

My dream cymbal would be a mix of meinl byzance and Istanbul agops
A Meinl Ching Ring gives you cool and different tones for cheap. A nice holiday gift for yourself, that’s what I did! :)
I don't have a set of drums yet but I definitely would have figured out most of that!! Very good tips and tricks though!!! Thanks!!!
I for drum kit specifically to bash things. Great video!
step 1: do not buy sabian B8s/meinl HCS/Zildjian ZBTs Lol

Loving the long hair!
Now let's try with some Sabian B8 =))
what sizes are the cymbals in this video?
Sabian has lost their minds with their pricing. They’re going to price themselves out of the market soon.
