Exploring Fairbanks, Alaska! Museum of the North, Pioneer Park, Brewery, Distillery & MORE!

- What a great day this was in Fairbanks, Alaska! We started our day by exploring the Museum of the North on the campus of the University of Alaska Fairbanks. In our opinion, this museum is a must-see when visiting Fairbanks! We then headed over to HooDoo Brewing for lunch and some drinks. HooDoo absolutely did not disappoint! After the brewery, we hit up a bookstore and then we headed over to Pioneer Park. There is no admission to get into the park and it's a great place to walk around and explore. There were a few shops open, and a number of people enjoying the different areas of the park. After Pioneer Park we headed out to Ursa Major Distillery. Wow! What a great find this was! They have a great little location and they make really good drinks. After experiencing so many wonderful Alaskan breweries this summer, it was nice to find this amazing distillery! Then it was off to dinner with Jessica and Lance Violett at The Library in downtown Fairbanks! We ended our day back at their house just hanging out around the fire laughing with friends!

1) I LOVE seeing all of these museums to potentially visit!!
2) The marmots revisited a memory of mine - When I was 2/3yo, a marmot hitchhiked on our camper from the mid Rockies. When we gots home we saw it run from the camper to a nearby shed. We called animal control who didn’t believe we had a marmot in the Denver Metro area. Well, we did have a marmot, and this is now one of my first life memories 😂

We only got to spend an hour in the Museum of the North because our Fairbanks tour guide didn't realize that they had changed to winter hours that day or the day before. I was so disappointed. I love history and I really wanted to see the Aurora movie. The tour guide took me to the UAF bookstore though so I could get a hoodie 😊
I miss Fairbanks! Got some new places I need to check out now!

We've been to Fairbanks but only to spend the night before flying back to Oklahoma. Did not have time to explore. Someday though!!!!
On the post card you mail to yourself, write your favorite memory, Sherri's favorite memory, and favorite memory of anyone else on the trip with you (in this case, of course, Auburn). Then you have your memories to look back on and a memory of who was on the trip with you. Better yet, have each person write their own favorite memory.
I think I'll have to show Ezra your Fairbanks vlogs and see if he went to any of the same places when he lived there!

I forgot all about Blue Babe! Also, my daughter was born in Fairbanks and named after Alaska's state stone- Jade! In Fairbanks in March, they use to have, maybe still do, an Outhouse race. My husband raced. Pioneer Park hasn't changed much in almost 30 yrs

What an interesting museum! The furniture you showed demonstrated extremely artistic imagination, but I’m with Sherri, I wouldn’t want it in my home. Can’t wait to come back to Alaska and be a tourist. I’ve been to Fairbanks, but only to drive through on the way to North Pole or Chena Hot Springs. In the interim I sure am enjoying seeing Alaska through your eyes. Hugs to Sherri. ❤️❤️
It's really fun to be a tourist in your own state! There are so many places that are easily accessible that most of us don't ever think to visit or see. It's been fun getting to experience them for ourselves.

We did get to see him, and the rest of the family! When we went over for the fire pit the kids stayed up to say hi to us. It was SOOOO sweet! We love their family!
