my whole life I was dreaming of my own studio! and with age of 40 my hubby bought us huge house! now all 4 kids have own rooms, and I... I have my studio!
thats amazing.i have always wanted a studio as well and now i have one because my dad bought a house that has one of those attic rooms.and half of it is my studio.now i have to figure out what the heck im going to do with it hahaha.
I'm so glad I learned more about lighting and temperature! I made a painting while in my room which gives a super warm lighting. Then when I took the painting to another room with cooler lighting I noticed my painting look too saturated. Now I know why that happened!
This video is actually perfectly timed lol, I have to move into a 500 sq ft apartment in literally a month and I've been freaking out about how i'm going to manage. Now I just have to figure out where to keep my large assortment of Michael's canvases...
Lena Danya hi..off subject...but I love the Gamblin oils...and colors you use in your works...have a look at Rosemary and CO. brushes...the synthetic and Ivory...they have a good selection and prices...best brushes will give good results and last...they are all handmade...fast friendly service...the synthetics that replace the badger and mongoose r very good for painting on wood as you do...opposed to natural bristles where they leave brushmarks when using wood ...new sub...luv your works...and colors...
This was very helpful and interesting. I am a human with lack of space and funds lol. I really love how your desk is literally a piece of ply wood! Its a genus idea.
I've always loved the minimalistic/simplistic design of your studio(s) and am glad for these tips! I'm genuinely curious, though--and please feel free to disregard this question--is your frequent relocation from state to state out of necessity (rooming and housemate situations, etc.) or just a geographic choice to experience different environments as an artist?
Sister, i love supporting youtubers especially the ones that bless me with info. Why not put links to the items you talk about so i can go buy it and bless you at the same time.
I love your studio! It looks very elegant. My walls are yellow with random flower stickers plus the little barcode stickers from my polychromos colored pencils which i put on my wall because I'm too lazy to walk to the bin and throw them away. Yeah...my studio is so stylish:')
The lighting part is so so so helpful, thank you! I have this small room I use as my art studio but it only has one window and aagh lighting is a struggle, haha! Also, you look so so so freaking beautiful in this video. But you kind of always do. ♥
Currently using my kitchen as "studio" has the best lighting in my apartment. But reaaally not a lot of space. Have a small square table from ikea and my chair crash into the cabinets behind me every time i turn or try to get up 😅 really want a house with my own room for painting
Hi Lena, love your artwork. Your timelapses are truly a treat for the senses. What is the name of the turquoise storage unit you bought from Ikea? I wanna buy one for myself, but I can't find it on their website. Thanks for your help.
I love your set up! So crisp and clean and inspirational. I was kind of curious to what kind of ezel you use though! Also, I just started a YT channel and I posted an oil painting time lapse that I made using your tips for using oils and mediums. Thank you so much for everything you have posted on here, it has helped me so much!
I know that Camilla d'Errico uses Holbein Duos (and has a book on how to use them)! I use Duos and Grumbacher water soluble oils. They're oils with a molecule tweaked to bond with water, so not too different, but, omgosh, the oil *mediums* are an uphill battle for me! I'm learning classical oils and watch Lena and Happy for pro-tips! One upshot is you can use water (talk about non-toxic!) to thin water solubles, or use acrylic mediums, or oil mediums, so they're pretty flexible! I don't know if Lena is interested in water solubles, but if she was, she'd rock those paints! She's so good!
SO why do you move a lot? I move a lot because I used to be a military brat but I still find I keep moving every 2 to 3 years haha! BTW, you cannot be more illuminating, your so beautiful.
I was in Micheal's the other day and they have "kitchen carts" that look just like the ones they sell at IKEA. I can't remember how much they cost but with the coupon Micheal's always has it may be cheaper than IKEA.
You should definitely move to Tampa, Florida. Nice weather, beautiful scenery, and best of all, we can collaborate on art projects together ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
There are many different houseplants that can help to purify the air. Peace lily, English Ivy or Boston ferns. Or by their fragrance jasmine or gardenias...
Hi Lena. I use a corner of my living room as my studio. I bought the cart you mentioned in Target. It saved me gas and tolls since I didnt drive to Ikea. I ordered it online. What type of printer do you use?
Thank you so much for making this video! I'm definitely going to give the soft boxes a try.. I always wonder how you get such beautiful lighting in your videos :-)
sounds like me lol with the "connected to nature" I love nature ridiculously but I know it sounds crazy to other people so I just say the "hippie" version of it in air quotes even though its true for me xD I love your videos so far btw, looking forward to watching them! (I'm trying to learn to paint, I love art, and I want to start doing different kinds of art more often now)
I know this is a very old video but I would like to know if your lighting preferences have changed since this video was published? I'm wondering how the Ott lights are for artists or if you've ever tried one?
great video! YES the right lighting is so important I realized this yesterday with a finished piece I did and how the colors were a bit to bright in one area and I know I have to correct my indoor lighting!! Thanks!
Plants you have... free fresh oxygen. Need access to free stuff... If you are close to a college town... College kids throw almost EVERYTHING away. I got two perfectly good desks at the dumpster. One glass top, and the other wood. Lighting: I have yellowish lighting like she made a point of. I know my colors, and if I need a quick check... I walk outside to see the true color. These are just things I learned as work arounds. I'm on a budget, and think her suggestions are perfect to keep in mind.

XZombieXFighter X doing stuff! all you want! I'm not only painting!
what kind of art do you typically do?
XZombieXFighter X I paint, sculpting! not pottery, like hand building! drawing, mixed media too.
It's so satisfying to see an artist's studio, like a little glimpse into their creative mind.
^_^ I love seeing artist workspaces too!
I'm so glad I learned more about lighting and temperature! I made a painting while in my room which gives a super warm lighting. Then when I took the painting to another room with cooler lighting I noticed my painting look too saturated. Now I know why that happened!
Thank you for the info I am starting to video tape my painting classes and needed some lighting! Your suggestions are great!
It's always handy to see what other people are doing!
Please make a video of how you shoot your videos. Thank you so much. You are truly inspiring 💕💕

You look happy again. I am glad.

Lighting! That's what happened! Ha! Thank you for the tips, Lena! New space looks great!
I love your studio! It looks very elegant. My walls are yellow with random flower stickers plus the little barcode stickers from my polychromos colored pencils which i put on my wall because I'm too lazy to walk to the bin and throw them away. Yeah...my studio is so stylish:')
thank you ..i will try to ind the lamps because the other lighting is too expensive for me since i live in a poor country
The lighting part is so so so helpful, thank you! I have this small room I use as my art studio but it only has one window and aagh lighting is a struggle, haha! Also, you look so so so freaking beautiful in this video. But you kind of always do. ♥

I love your paintings! And you are SO inspiring. One question, where do you buy most of your art supplies
very useful information; I have a huge space issue as I live in an apartment and the artspace is technically my bedroom...
Sayanti Fine Arts same here!!
I really like that desk idea, so easy to move. I may just get one for myself like that :)!
I never thought of softboxes! My dad has some up here near my room! Thanks.
I love your set up! So crisp and clean and inspirational. I was kind of curious to what kind of ezel you use though!

You are beautiful and amazing and I love you :D
:) HI HAPPY!
Thank you gorgeous angel ♥♥♥ I love you so much!
Lena have you ever used water based oil paint. i think normal oil paint is better. but i wanted to know what you think of them. :)
:)
I know that Camilla d'Errico uses Holbein Duos (and has a book on how to use them)! I use Duos and Grumbacher water soluble oils. Hello Lena, thank you so much for the lighting tips. May I ask what camera you film with please? Also, how do you do your editing?
I've been waiting for a video like this! I love seeing how others set up their studios.
SO why do you move a lot? I move a lot because I used to be a military brat but I still find I keep moving every 2 to 3 years haha! BTW, you cannot be more illuminating, your so beautiful.

Wow awesome! Exactly what I was looking for today. Thank you for posting!!!
thanks for watching! :] ♥
How do you setup your lights to get rid of shadows while drawing/painting, etc?
Hi Lena. I use a corner of my living room as my studio. I bought the cart you mentioned in Target. It saved me gas and tolls since I didnt drive to Ikea. I ordered it online. What type of printer do you use?
This video was so helpful! I think I have an LED lamp with a long lasting bulb? I was wondering if 5 watt is the same as 5000
Yeah I was wondering how you can tell if the bulb is going to get too hot....
Thank you, very useful information! Love your channel!
AMAZING VIDEO THANKS LENA!
