Today we head to Lake Atitlan one of the most beautiful lakes in the world! It took us 3 hours to drive from Guatemala City to Lake Atitlan. On the way we passed through Solola and hopped on a quick boat ride from Panajachel to San Juan La Laguna.
San Juan La Laguna is famous for its painters, coffee and it's maya textiles. We first stopped at Cafe San Juan to drink a few different coffee roast. Maya coffee in San Juan La Laguna is unreal!
Then we made our way through the town admiring the murals and galleries. We saw a vendor selling some incredible Guatemalan snow cones and I had to try it. They put roasted corn and lime mixed with a few other flavors and its so good!
Lastly we stopped at Casa Flor Ixcaco to see how these Maya women weave these beautiful textiles. From scarfs, to t-shirts to even some incredible baby shoes. A must visit and you have to buy!!

Nothing like a good Café. I have tried so many types of coffee and I have to say that Guatemalan coffee is the best. Atitlan is a beautiful lake. I am so proud of my country and its beautiful places, of the nice people. 💖😘
Hello Miranda..
@@andrewsluqueno.4652 Hi dude. Como va todo bien?
@@miranda8304 have you been to guate lately?
No, it's been a long time. But I really want to go back and visit Atitlan & Roatan. 💙
@@miranda8304 i went to panajachel in october and in december i was there for christmas. It waa really fun. All you need is a negative covid test. Ive gone twice since the pandemic started.
My wife, 3 year old son, and I were in San Juan last week and met Delfina and Miriam at Casa Flor Ixcaco. One morning they took us on a hike up the mountain to see where they are planning to put in a botanical garden and hopefully build and open a cafe. Delfina wound up carrying my son up the most treacherous parts of the trail, in spite of wearing flimsy slippers and a traditional dress and having her own daughter with her as well. These are truly amazing women doing truly amazing and beautiful art. I’m thrilled to see them featured here, along with Zacateo and his coffee. I spent a good amount of time in Cafe San Juan and went on a coffee tour with him at the end of the week. Also got to watch him do a bit of roasting, which he does about 20-25 feet from where you sit drinking the final product, admiring the beauty of the lake. It is indeed superb coffee! He also has a sign indicating he will ship anywhere in the world. And you also can’t beat their chocolate!
I love that this video is such a great blend of food, culture, and a little bit of history as well! If I ever decide to get a used car, it looks like I know where to go! Your view of Lake Atitlan and the volcanoes from Mirador de San Jorge is absolutely stunning. I'm blown away by all of the beautiful textiles and artwork you got to see. It kind of reminds me of a market in Puerto Vallarta in Jalisco, Mexico, that I visited when I was a kid. There were so many gorgeous, hand-made things being sold by the vendors there that it was like sensory overload! I didn't know where to look next! The amount of work it must take to take the cotton, turn it into yarn, dye it, and then weave that yarn into high-quality blankets, clothing, bags, and so much else, is mind-blowing. The coffee there sounds out of this world! While I'm not a huge coffee person, I'll keep what you said in mind - If it needs sugar, it's not good coffee. 😂 And that snowcone would probably sound strange to most, but it looks so interesting! Corn and ice? I have to try that someday! You've released so many incredible videos that I'm sure I'm starting to sound like a broken record, but this is one of my favorites of yours, for sure. This one is next level!
Brandon Moore your the man! Just another day in Guatemala 😂
Haha! Back at you, man!!
Beautiful scenery of Lago Atitlan.
That "lookout point" is absolutely majestic!
Truly amazing. When you see the time, dedication and effort put into textiles, you'll see why the women deserve to be paid fairly for their handmade products.
hey David you were at the most beautyful lake in the World ...is such amazing place and its all araunds...!!!

hi , please dont say guaremala ...is Guatemala . The name DONT CHANGE ..bye
Unless you've been to Guatemala before, I don't recommend you drink anything with Guatemalan ice in these indigenous towns. The water is barely filtered. I know for a fact because I have family there and their water collecting drum is filled with flies constantly. You could drink it, but be prepared for a bad case of the runs for about a week. I only drink bottled water or hot street drinks. My stomach can take it since I go at least 2/3 times a year, but for someone going for the first time, I would advise against it.
I completely agree. My husband and I have lived at Lake Atitlan for over 2 years now, specifically in San Juan for over a year. We still don't drink any water or ask for ice in town, unless bottled. Having said that, it is now mandatory for all towns to have purified water from the muni by end of year. So they are working on it, but even when the project is complete, you never know. I just wanted to add, so much of San Juan La Laguna was missed in this video. It has a lot more to offer and 95% of tourists always miss out.
Mariel tu ingles esta muy mal
La chica debería de hablar solo español. Su inglés es malísimo
U got scammed for the peanuts
You must already know, since you’re a professional traveller, but Guatemala is extremely dangerous because of its insane crime rate. So, you need to be extra cautious there.
sugreev2001 that’s why you get a guide
Davidsbeenhere Because a guide gives you immunity against crime ?? 🤨
sugreev2001 no they just guide You away from dangerous places. I am from Miami, one of the most dangerous cities according to many people and I have never stepped into any danger because I know what areas to stay out of. They help you avoid bad areas!
sugreev 2001 stop saying estupid things Guatemala is dangerous is like the hole World ... its like USA With terrorism o you forgat the crimen to spanish People in New York :v
No matter where you go. You have to be extra cauotious. I live in Chicago an "extremely dangerous city".
