Why have I never heard of Caserta? Architecture classes focus on Versailles and Pompeii. No one ever discussed Caserta. Maybe I skipped class that day.
You're not the only one who had never heard of this place till this documentary. I'm so glad videos like this exist, I love learning about amazing places like this.
@@PinoyAko000 If you mean the ballroom scene then this was not Caserta but a palace in Palermo,Sicily that has those amazing mirrors though it is such a long ttime since I viewed that film that Caserta may have been in it too -after all Sicily was in the same kingdom which was mysteriously called "The Kingdom of the Two Sicilies" that lasted until about 1860.
The queen of baroque Cecilia Bartoli , in one of her albums that includes a video, sings the famous aria by Handel "Ombra mai fu" in front of one of the pine trees in the Caserta gardens. It's a stunning performance complete with baroque orchestra and very appropriate as well as the words of the song are addressed to a tree which the ancient Persian king Xerxes is said to have praised for having provided shade during the course of a battle.
I love the architectual style with the four courtyards. I want the first three stories to be offices for various businesses, philantropies, and duties and responsiblities personel. I want triple wide hallways because it's a modern building, there can be the correct rooms with doors to open into one another.
This is an awesome series that really highlights the amazing details about these palaces, but I do wonder with this one: why in the world is Maria Carolina's friend wearing an Edwardian outfit and a straw hat? Who dressed this woman and let her walk on set?! I'm not expecting like, Game of Thrones or Bridgerton level costuming, but dude...
If you have seen Star Wars episode 1, Mission Impossible 3 or you have played the new Star Wars battlefront 2, then you have seen the Royal Palace of Caserta.
1. False. It is not the largest palace in the world. 3. More importantly, greatness and beauty is not measured by sheer size. When it comes to fame, importance, history and influence, it doesn't even come close to those palaces you mentioned (hence why not many people are aware of its existence), and if we compare beauty, Versailles, the Winter Palaces, Schronbrunn, Madrid palace and Buckingham are the most beautiful royal palaces in the world, in that order.
Still people have a hard time naming the kingdom of the TWO-SICILIES IT IS A TABOO. Still! Can any one say wear is the Mezzogiorno? or What was its capital? It can be any wear else in the world, but Italy. In fact Italy is the Mezzogiorno not the north.
King Charles built the palace because he wanted a capital that could not be bombed by the English fleet, as had happened 10 years earlier. not because of the protests of the Neapolitans
You should have used historians who have abundant formal vocabulary. The two ladies (Indian with innate limited vocabulary since most probably she speaks Hindi in her house) disappoint massively. The British woman seems more like a socialite with adjectives than a person who has read thick dusty books of medieval times. Please hire old men or women with their soul soaked in history speak next time.
THANKS !❤

I came across the royal palace of Caserta in the novel THE LEOPARD by Guiseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa

@rndyh77 Apparently, you did. LOL! Maybe it's built later than the other two.

FYI. Believe that this palace was used in filming one of the Star Wars films. It was where Luke’s mother ruled.
It is also present in Mission Impossible 3 and Star wars battlefront 2
Reggia di Caserta. One of the most underrated Palace in Italy just because it’s in the South. What a pity

Just imagine you have to keep this huge Palace clean! You never finisch, cleaning 1200 huge rooms will take a lifetime!
