@12:33 you can see the aircraft constantly moving around, and how each bit of the plane acts with forces upon it, that is amazing. can't wait to experience it myself, I am envious you got to sit down and experience it, and happy you shared it with us.
I do believe that is what it was. We feel that in powered planes as well, so they need it for the realism that they seem to be going for. I imagine that you can expect to see sailplanes at some point, especially if you ask loudly enough!
I think what he was getting at is that the plane is not moving over the terrain, the terrain is moving under the plane. So the plane is static in the 3D space (like being on a treadmill), which makes sense, they don't have to tell the plane to move to an X,Y,Z coordinate and then match that with the terrain location, they can just tell a point on the terrain to move towards / away from say 0,0,0 (where the plane is). I may be wrong.
As a X Plane 11 channel I look at this and its WOW! The flight models sounds like it may be similar to the blade theory used in X P 11. The scenery leaves everything in the market in its tracks. Im looking forward to the release. Great vid mate. :)

I’m not a tech person but enjoy x plane. How much of a threat ( for lack of a better word )will this be to X plane ? Do you view this as good news for the flight sim earthbound community ?
Last flight simulator I played was FS98 from 1998-2003 and boy was it fun. Now folks listen up, I believe this new flight simulator 2020 will run much smoother and better on xbox than on a PC, because xbox is specifically designed to run gaming software and nothing else. As on a PC you have other applications running which can cause the gaming software to freeze up or not work at all. I noticed this on FSX, the game would just shut down for some unknown reason. With xbox, you can buy the throttle system with a joystick and add a keyboard and mouse, I think it would work great.
So in summary for the concept: 1) Admit that Flight missed the target audience by more than a few post codes. 2) Look at what Xplane does, get inspired by it and modernize FS into this millenium. 3) Focus on getting a few planes and core appeals to Sim-Audience right and not overpopulate with broken content. 4) make it look effing pretty to increase sales appeal. To me it sounds at least like they have a very good concept for this, which makes me hopeful for a great one. Please no Always Online DRM, no Microtransactions.... and then I'm very happy to sink hundreds and hundreds of Dollars into MSFS again.
I'm a student pilot with 20+ hours working on my PPL, but I definitely caught the bug with Microsoft Flight Simulator X many years ago. Probably wouldn't be flying now if it weren't for that game, and also the plethora of great youtube flight training content available today. Thanks FlightChops.
I cannot _wait_ for this. I wish they’d implement a career mode in this. You’d start out as a student pilot, work towards earning your license, accrue hours, and then pursue a variety of aviation paths. Become a private business pilot, commercial pilot, freight pilot, stunt pilot, tour guide pilot, or even a crop duster pilot. Manage a salary, hours, navigate emergencies etc. Perhaps we’ll see this as an add on, but it seems like such a no brainer. There really should be a story mode. I’d never leave my room again.
I guess they use satellite photos as a template to infer where the features go ("water" "house" "tree" "mountain" "highway") and then the rendering engine fills in the details with artistic license. Much like when you design a level for a videogame with a 2D "feature" editor. You create a 2D "map" and the engine fills in the rest.
defiantly cool to see this from the perspective of a non gamer/simmer. I showed my dad who is 68 and remembers playing the OG flight simulator the new 2020 alpha sim footage and he was like "this isn't a film" he was blown away by it.
This is incredible- to see how far its come. As a kid I didn't think the experience could get any more like the real thing. I fly Raptors now and even I'm interested in feeding my nostalgia and giving this a shot
I couldn't get to sleep...so I was thinking about the interviews and some of the possibilities with the infrastructure they have for serving up the scenery....and it occurred to me that they were keeping mum about something, and it struck me...maybe they are working on turning FS2020 as a gateway to a shared virtual world, where you could fly and interact with other people flying, and maybe some ATC action as well. *THAT* would be very, very big and awesome.
Farrell McGovern I would rather have it interact with Vatsim and Pilot Edge over a online In house client. For learning and realism they would be the huge support to the community and the realism they’re looking for.
that would be awesome. And extending that idea a bit further, can you imagine if we ever get to the point where we can have a world where developers can integrate their game and everyone can interact with each other? For example, here I am doing my VFR while on the ground someone is playing GTA. You fly over a stadium and you see a bunch of people playing FIFA. Go to the railroad station and a guy is doing some train simulation.Wouldn't that be the ultimate gaming experience? A truly virtual world for gamers...
Wow! For us actual pilots that are newbies to the flight sim world, A follow up video suggesting what type of hardware we need to make this a worthwhile experience would be extremely helpful!
The secrecy is because the product is not finalized. MS is reluctant to show things that may later be dropped, modified, or replaced in the final release version. That said, I applaud MS for what certainly 'appears to be' a massive uptick in realism for those who are constantly striving to 'live the dream' at least virtually-speaking.
I think my first Flight Sim version I flew was 2 on the C64 and it was by SubLogic. It was only a small map, only one aircraft and it came WITH ACTUAL PAPER FLIGHT MAPS with the radio freqs for the ADF and VOR stations... and it had a pretty decent manual. I wanted to make a nice cockpit for it but never really got around to it because the hardware wasn’t around... but now... now I’ve got my own CNC machine so I can mate my panels and other associated hardware... IT’S FINALLY GOING TO BE GLORIOUS!
I started out on FS2002 when I was about 5, maybe? I just flew around for the hell of it. Later, when I switched to FS2004 I did pretty much the same. It was great fun! After awhile though, I started taking things more seriously. Well, as seriously as any kid with no real knowledge could - setting up the weather/airport, filing flight plans, following checklists, communicating with ground/tower, trying to navigate IFR... The list goes on. This only added to the fun, even though I probably wasn't doing much right at the end of it all. I tried fsx, but my computer just couldn't cope, and to be honest the only reason I left fs2004 is because that computer eventually crapped out and I never got around so sorting it... Still, MSFS managed to keep me well entertained for over a decade, which isn't bad going! Needless to say I am rather looking forward to the new Sim - even if I still only "play" it just for fun *:)*
msi true but it would be nice if they included a panel map for each aircraft though, I don’t get on FSX as much as would like and the number of times I’ve started a sim at the gate, pushed back, only to be let down by my memory of where the starters are, even worse in the dark when you accidentally switch the panels lights off.😆

@@tomlong8472 Interesting. I've just got piles of PDFs, virtual scribble notes and a couple of books. Where's a good place to get panel layouts and are these hard copies or soft? Thanks.
i used to fly MSFS years ago, i.e 95, 2002, FSX and went off sims in general, but looking at this guess it's time for a new PC, the ability to fly not just to the marquee places but tothe middle of Siberia, the Australian outback, a random S Pacific Island with it being a resonable facisimile of the actual place is and to use an overused word , mindblowing. With the modding community this will be unbeatable.
Sad to say, they are not promising triple screens which the sim cockpit world will be sad to hear. On the other hand, triple screens in 4K is a huge problem because of the number of pixels involved. 4k rendering of the scenery complexity they are promising will be a mighty task for a SINGLE monitor though... and from what I've seen in their authorized B footage here on UA-cam, will be dazzling indeed!
I played Flight Simulator 4.0 when it was released in 1989, and then was excited when Flight Simulator 5.0 came out (in 1993 I think), with its vastly improved graphics. Flight Simulator 5.0 pushed my PC and was fairly slow until I upgraded my PC.. After Flight Simulator X, I was curious about the next release and was disappointed when they still didn't release anything after years went by. I thought I had heard Microsoft dropped Flight Simulator. I just bought a copy of X-Plane 11 last month, just before I heard about Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020.
This crappy five year old pc won't do. I'll have to invade my son's space, borrow the computer he's just built and tell him it's for a greater cause...
I'm excited to watch this video. I tried flight sim around fs3 but didn't figure it out as a kid. Then forgot about it until I found fs2004 right before finding fsx. Which is where I got really deep into the hobby and then started real world training.
I hope there's built in, realistic ATC. Try the default ATC in Xplane 11 and try navigating to Mount Washinton, KHIE (if I remember right), ATC constantly tries to fly you into mountains.
@@maxsimonidis6308 yup... last night about an hour of my flight was spent trying to get an approach in to land at KBGR. Glad I brought plenty of fuel. When they finally passed me off to Tower, Tower cleared me to land only to make me go around because they didn't clear the runway of traffic. Also have had several occasions where Ground would have me taxi onto active runways instead of just parallel on the taxiway. Xplane 11 was so hyped for being super realistic, but all it has going for it is flight model stuff you won't see any difference in compared to FSX...

So glad you're incorporating flight simulation into you're Chanel. It's a very important consideration for any pilot, no matter how experienced and it's important that the flight sim environment is as realistic as possible. Look forward to your views on what's developing.
It’s really amazing how far it’s come. I remember flight sim 2000 and I thought that was advanced, now at least from a scenery standpoint, it’s hard to tell the difference between real and sim.
Mad respect to the devs calling out the difficulty of their situation, and their desire to give the hardcore fans what they deserve. I don't even have a PC anymore, but I may just buy the game simply to support them.
Am I the only one who sees their omission of a version number (Microsoft Flight Simulator "2020" is just our name for it, not theirs) as a bit ominous?
Thanks FlightChops, very interesting to hear about the flight dynamics from an actual pilot. As an aside, you (by chance?) show your booth next to Frooglesim's booth at 2:32 and then you play him asking a question at 10:31. Coincidental crossover that works for me, cheers!

To clarify with the scenery. The data is streamed through an internet connection. So its connecting to bing map servers (msft owns bing) and then loading the scenery for your area based on latitude - longitude. Very similar to how google earth works, except instead of a free pan camera theres a plane
I wonder how they would generate night textures. Does Bing store night time photoimagery? Will the airports be generated in the same manner cause google earth 3D is a bit odd looking when you zoom in.

Mate, my hands were on it watching this!
Niko's Wings will it work on Mac computer ?
I can't tell if I'm hearing my PC moan at the possibility of having to run that stimulator or if that's my modem crying after hearing 2 Petabytes.
And I'm just hoping they'll allow me to cache the entire game... so I can justify setting up a 4PB storage array :p
I wonder if the image at 6:10 shows ridge lift - and if sailplanes will be included... Lots to look forward to in the future!
So hyped for this!
This was my immediate thought as well...I really hope so
I do believe that is what it was. We feel that in powered planes as well, so they need it for the realism that they seem to be going for. I imagine that you can expect to see sailplanes at some point, especially if you ask loudly enough!
Gliders were a big part of the last game they made, so I'm almost positive they will be included in the new one
Those wind particles influence cloud generation too,
I think what he was getting at is that the plane is not moving over the terrain, the terrain is moving under the plane.

I signed my divorce papers last week.
“Perfect timing” 😊😊😊
Richie P1 My wife divorced me back in February, because I was spending too much time playing X-Plane 11. Welcome to the club buddy!
Too funny😂😂😂
Lol
Sorry to hear that. At least you will have more time to play flight Simulator 2020 now.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Wow! That's certainly come a long way.
Thanks for checking it out Steve.
As a X Plane 11 channel I look at this and its WOW! The flight models sounds like it may be similar to the blade theory used in X P 11. The scenery leaves everything in the market in its tracks. Im looking forward to the release. Great vid mate. :)
I was wondering how it would compare. I would love to see a video on that! I am trying to decide if this will fit my bill better than X-plane.
I am wondering how they will compare. I would love to see a video about that. I went over and subbed to your channel so I will see when you get that done! ;)
i bet they watched the blade element announcement from XP11 and copied it
@@CrucialFlowResearch Hi ... X P 11 always has used blade theory so i guess FS has sort of copied. I think there is a difference in the xp11 models all of the aircraft and FS measures 1000 individual points as they said. Should be good. :) Means xp11 and p3d have a lot od work to do visually. :)
PC parts producers aronund the world: "We need more sales, our profits are stagnating. How do we get ppl to buy more of our stuff!?"
Microsoft: "I gotcha, bros! Hold my beer!".
Clips from the sim look like they were recorded from a 'virtual' GoPro. This has raised the bar.
It'll still be underpowered...

This is the beginning of the fall of X-Plane
Derp 101 ? With X-Plane you also have the whole world? Even with FSX from 2006 you had that
Well, the psycs of x plane 11 is better than fs2020’s psycs, so no
@@DanielSilva-gc4xz Did you listen to the part about aerodynamics? They use 1000 surfaces for the full plane. X-Plane uses 10 per wing.
Right now and after you made 8 months ago your comment, I fly with my 737 MAX in X-plane from EDDM to HECA on VATSIM and this X-plane killer is still in Alpha and will be for a few more weeks in beta! So as I see it X-plane is here and fully flyable!
@@DanielSilva-gc4xz 5 months later i'm reminding you to check mfs 2020 physics again :)
I have friends in alpha and they said x plabe physics are 7/10 and msfs2020 physics are 9/10
The new benchmark question will be "..But can it run flight sim?"
a 6 core CPU (something like the Ryzen 5 3600 which is pretty cheap) and 16GB RAM and a GTX 1060 6GB is probably all you'll need for high settings on 1080p.
this game looks like shit
The weather really peaked my interest.. It's so beautiful and may even be the most realistic weather simulation ever implemented in a commercial simulator/game.
As an X Plane Developer, even I have to admit that this is such a better Representation of flying , than any Current Sim on the market.
As an Xplane simmer, I have to say that it is what it is. Beautiful, but until the release of this product and the purchase of my new Superduper computer, I will still be on XP11. Vulcan can't come sooner!
Remember when u leaked the flight factor 762
And worlwide services and remember when u got caught pirating
U are not a dev you are a thief
BUT will it be a game or a sim
Monday morning-so much work to do, yet here I am watching FlightChops!
Looks amazing! Looking forward to simulating an engine failure at 400 feet. NOSE DOWN!!
I'm excited to listen once again that sweet noise of "WHOOP WHOOP PULL UP".
Bye XPLane 11 , Welcome FS2020. It is time to rock n roll on this !
“Hey it’s my house!” *Faint plane noises*
Very exciting news. Thanks for being there and reporting on it. Can't wait for it to be released.
OMG!!! didn't know this was coming!!!!!!! My thousands of hours in FS made getting my private pilot license so much easier, I am sure.
Welcome to Sweden. Hope you enjoy your stay.
defiantly cool to see this from the perspective of a non gamer/simmer. I showed my dad who is 68 and remembers playing the OG flight simulator the new 2020 alpha sim footage and he was like "this isn't a film" he was blown away by it.
The lead mentioned the possibility of "fighter jets". DCS, the *current* boss of the fighter jet arena.
Dcs is also combat helo king
Good point.
Farrell McGovern online multiplayer is already available on X-Plane. What is different about your idea?
Why so secretive??.... It's flight Sim, not the blueprints to space x.
exactly
The secrecy is because the product is not finalized. MS is reluctant to show things that may later be dropped, modified, or replaced in the final release version. That said, I applaud MS for what certainly 'appears to be' a massive uptick in realism for those who are constantly striving to 'live the dream' at least virtually-speaking.
Look at it from a buisness perspective
I think my first Flight Sim version I flew was 2 on the C64 and it was by SubLogic. It was only a small map, only one aircraft and it came WITH ACTUAL PAPER FLIGHT MAPS with the radio freqs for the ADF and VOR stations... and it had a pretty decent manual. I wanted to make a nice cockpit for it but never really got around to it because the hardware wasn’t around... but now... now I’ve got my own CNC machine so I can mate my panels and other associated hardware... IT’S FINALLY GOING TO BE GLORIOUS!
2:17, pra quem veio ver o Fernando representando o Brasil.
"We're not really making it for them" (in relation to inexperienced pilots)
Well, that was the easiest decision I've ever made on buying a product.
I really hope so. I dont want a "simulator" that is basically a game for people that dont know anything about aviation
msi true but it would be nice if they included a panel map for each aircraft though, I don’t get on FSX as much as would like and the number of times I’ve started a sim at the gate, pushed back, only to be let down by my memory of where the starters are, even worse in the dark when you accidentally switch the panels lights off.😆
@@tomlong8472 Apparently it has interactive checklists with a zoom-in feature if you're not sure where an item is. (source: Froogle, BelGeode or Novawing).
Tony Flies would be nice. Although I have got a ridiculous number of manufacturers panel layouts and manuals saved at home just to find things

Yep it gives headings that steer you directly in the wrong direction.
I’m new to x plane and they keep telling me to head in the wrong direction. I thought it was just me
@@maxsimonidis6308 yup... last night about an hour of my flight was spent trying to get an approach in to land at KBGR.
Dead Baron yeah I mean I am a beginner and I barely understand how to fly how it is and I wish they had some better tutorials for airliners

Mad respect to the devs calling out the difficulty of their situation, and their desire to give the hardcore fans what they deserve. I don't even have a PC anymore, but I may just buy the game simply to support them.

@@spd_bird That's where the azure ai comes in. It fills in for some of the 3d imagery daytime, but the game renders every light point based off of where 3d buildings are placed. It's not a finished product right now but they're getting there. The game knows the placement of each 3d building. Then it just sticks lights onto cars and streetlamps similar to xplane

Coupled with VR and a motion platform is near enough full immersion
