Actually, you're also Asiatic. To be called African American is to say you and your people were colonized in two countries named after white men. Sipping Africanus and Americo Vespucius. The country now called Africa, before whites re-named it was East Asia. That crap they call history, they teach the world over, do not go back far enough. However, neither are they "white Americans". We kind of know what areas that were concentrated for slave trade if thats when your ancestors arrived. Like none came from Ethiopia for example. So you can eliminate Ethiopian as one etc.

When I use "South Asian" to describe someone I'm sometimes told it is racist and I need to use "desi." I was describing a geographic point of origin not a cultural identity because that sub-continent and bay is so diverse. By the way, that "bay" is larger than the Mediterranean Sea.

Don't listen to them. "South Asian" is not derogatory. Desi is more colloquial, but most people in the US don't know what that term means. South Asian is fine. As an Indian immigrant, I don't take any offence at being referred to as South Asian. Those detractors are just splitting hairs.

When was the last time you heard whites do it in a public forum? I've never heard it, but I do see racist comments from whites every goddamned day, all of them from males (as opposed to real men). That you don't say it about whites, the first logical and obvious step, says much about who you are.

I hope people understand the lesson here. If you are a part of a minority, your opinion will not be taken into consideration unless you have people representing you in Congress.

But here's the thing that I've learned over the years and it's that most people running for office will act like they care for minorities, make promises to those communities just to get that vote but when they're elected, it was just a show. Democrats have ran with this every single campaign, catering to minorities but when the votes are finalized, they actually destroy the communities they campaigned for. Biden is a fine example of this but in a really weird way. He's hiring people solely based on their skin color and sexual orientation instead of qualifications and merit and look where we're at right now. An administration that is absolutely destroying things because they didn't hire the most qualified person.

Diversity is a complex topic. Ensuring underrepresented groups get a chance at the table is affirmative action. It's needed, but diversity is how well different groups can break down old barriers and get things done. Huma was at the table but wasn't recognized as an Affirmative Action win. So? How well are talented but different people working together to get results? Focus there.
Diversity is a complex topic, but we now have laws that make us all equal. You mentioned, “ensuring underrepresented groups”. If you are attempting to do this, you are engaged in racism. You are ensuring that people based on skin color, national origin, sexual identity, etc. are given preference. You are promoting discrimination and racism. Shame on you. We have laws now that prevent this from being done. We are all equal under the law.
What is an under represented group?
With the extracurricular activities they're into, I don't believe a word neither of those witches say.
