  • Starting from this episode , we will be focusing on knots related to lashing, the first one being Transom Knot, which is similar to the Constrictor Knot. It is considered a simple and light duty lashing knot used to secure two linear objects at right angles to each other.
    Here is how to tie the Transom Knot
    Step #1. Pass the working end behind the lower spar and back across the rope.
    Step #2. Pass the working end behind the lower spar on the other side of the upper spar.
    Step #3. Working back toward the top, tuck the working end under both turns.
    Step #4. Pull both the working end and the standing part to tighten the knot. Trim ends if desired.
    The Transom Knot has a wide range of camping and outdoor uses, such as fastening tent poles together. To reinforce it, a second Transom Knot can be added in the opposite direction and at the right angle to the first one. Consider using a Square Lashing for a more secure and long-term solution.
