Quality post match report Craig. Love the intro about beating lower level teams. First half Newcastle were superb. Should have scored more than two. Bruno, Burn, Isak, Gordon, Hall etc were all so good. Man Utd awful. What a strange team Amorim picked. No pace. Newcastle ran all over them. Miles better athletes. Got to take that mentality to Spurs now. Should get loads of chances at least given how Spurs are defending. No going back now on the Tonali in the middle and Bruno to the right of him in midfield. Much better team this way. Happy new year.
Great win geodies,,, as you say craig we have some lovely control of the game these days. It seems hall and tonali have added to that control. First half was amazing,,, then 2nd half we just held them,,, less energy used for next game. What a way to finish the year. Im stunned how swopping tonali and bruno around has made such a difference. They both look 20% better at least
Great video as always Craig, appreciate your time and thoughts. On the match, my only regret is that it feels we've passed up the opportunity to put a historic score past this awful Manchester Utd team but on the flip side, the maturity the lads showed to comfortably see out the second half and the win is a huge positive and step forward from where they were a season or two ago. Can't really argue on the merit stars, Bruno was probably MoTM but Burn was immense at the back and as you say, if they'd scored end of the first half / start of the second it would've been a different game and a result that would've flattered the team in red. If - and it is a big if - they can keep the first team all fit and firing it feels like the sky is the limit for the second half of the season. This is a group of players who have the quality and now the form to win a cup and finish in the top 4. A bit like the year we qualified for the CL it'll be interesting to see if the owners stick or twist in the January transfer window and possibly bring in reinforcements to help Eddie achieve it. The revenue from the competition is so important to our PSR position and obviously hanging onto the world class players we now possess. Onwards to Tottenham who currently have no defense, should be an easy 3 points! (Joke!).
Can we talk about Isak's finishing when he's 1-on-1 with the keeper though ? Thats the last 3 or 4 games he's tried a little dink or a tame shot and given it straight to the keeper...luckily it hasn't mattered as we've won all those games any anyway !
Brilliant video as always Craig. As a fan who grew up in the 80s/90s my dislike for Man Utd is immeasurable 😂 This has been long overdue & the best United won. Thanks for all the great content this year & i wish you & the family a happy NY & a healthy happy 2025 🙏
So many good performances tonight. For me, Joelinton and Gordon stood out. Joelinton was so big and strong he literally bullied Man Utd while Gordon's defensive sprints were amazing. Howe clearly knows Hall has a weakness in 1v1 versus tricky wingers and told Joelinton and Gordon to make sure he's never isolated and Gordon in particular worked his socks off to sprint back and smother Diallo out of the game. The defensive work of players often goes unnoticed and that's why I have no problems with Dan Burns 3 stars as he plays with his heart on his sleeve, makes all supporters proud of him. Murphy was also well instructed to track back and make sure Trippier wasn't isolated too and thus I actually think Howe is the real 3 stars tonight as he tactically outclassed Amorim. 30 minutes of destructive brilliance combined with 60 minutes of grinding them down. Now we have to go again. Spurs will be a tougher test as they actually score but hopefully Isak will have his shooting boots on and not be watching anymore Ouatara dinks before the game and instead put them to the sword. A win on Saturday could be huge for us. HWTL!
I’m just happy with the result. Bruno was oozing quality. A few games ago I was worried about our ability to play triangles. Now we are probably the best in the league at it.
I agree with your analyse and view that Nufc is a better and more evolved team this season - which is good with a natural progress and what was needed too. Thanks for your good videos and happy new year! /Seb swedish magpie
I thought Lewis hall had a corker . Great assist, Perfect timed slide tackles, good runs, link up plays, throwing himself in front of the ball in front of goal
That Schar mistake was criminal 😂 then Casemiro curled the shot wide! We should’ve been 4-0 up before that. It’s mad how we could’ve scored another 10 goals in the last few games. Ipswich and Man Utd were very lucky the scoreline wasn’t worse for them.
Dan burn has been an unbelievable signing. He doesnt get the credit he deserves tbh. Many of us have kinda slept on him..(me included) but aye, hes colossal for us. But my 3 star merit would have been bruno. A genuinely believe that was brunos best performance in a black nd white shirt 🙌 Anyways, one thing i wish for, is that we become even more clinical infront of goal. We miss about 2 or 3 sitters every game! Imagine if we tighten up on that man!! Champions league here we come 🙌😁⚫️⚪️
None of those Manchester United players would get anywhere near Newcastle's starting line up, could have quite easily been 4 or 5 at half time, a brilliant month, can't wait for next year. Happy New Year Craig 🥳
Great work this year Craig! Thank you for the continuous updates and for being a reliable source week in and week out. Wishing you all the best for next year!
Thanks Craig ….one of them performances when so many players were contenders !…agree with the three stars for Dan Burn such a great hard working dedicated professional, probably tonali 2 and isak 1 … also just love the way the manager is not getting carried away ..in Eddie we trust !….all the best for 2025 .
That first 20 minutes was the best I've seen from us for as long as I can remember. Unplayable. Thanks for your reporting Craig - really appreciate your regular chat. Happy New Year.
Absolutely quality what we have been watching lately and I hope we push on in January with a few extra top-notch players, to really push for champions league. Regarding BDB, he still can’t jump more than 3mm off the grass, that’s my only criticism 😁 HWTL 🤙🏻
Great summary Craig. Hard one this. Great to see big Dan Burn getting the regonition he deserves - he’s been so consistent this season and a massive leader on the pitch! This is an amazing turn around compared to last season (obviously because he was out of position).
It's strange, the words Man UTD and Old Trafford still carry so much weight and ontop of that, our history as a club, that even after witnessing the first half masterclass I was worried 2 goals wouldn't be enough and we'd fluff it up somehow.. but nah, this team really is looking different. Absolute quality, effort and desire from all 11. Murphy doing defence work, Trips looking like he did 2 seasons ago, Burn and Schar being rock solid, Hall the young prodigy, Tonali and Bruno developing such a balance of defensive interceptions, pressure, agressive pressing and progressive play, J7 is just... a machine, Gordon doing as much work tracking backwards as going forward and Isak, dispite the weird hoo-doo of 1v1s, still scoring every game and some absolutely silky smooth ball control. Oh and not feeling dread every time players pass back to the keeper, I love Pope but... Easy to mock Man U but having seen us drop points to even worse teams away, great performance.
Cheers Craig! Happy New Year, and what a year in prospect! Also huge thanks for your sterling (ha!) work last year in bringing us a considered and honest perspective on the ups and downs with our ‘Crazy Gang’!! Look forward to your reports and enjoy your work on the back pages too. Have a great year ahead and hope we’re all celebrating some huge things in the course of 2025.
I wanted Utd to be battered.......5/6-0 as that's what the scoreline should have been with Newcastle's first half performance. I was annoyed with the way things went in the second half, for quite a while of it, but then I recalled what you said Craig (if I remember it correctly), maturity, emotion & professionalism. We can't let ourselves or the team get too emotional as it's draining for everyone, so we would have to just get the job done in a professional manner as possible - and that for me was the second half. A professional, competent performance where we were untroubled for most of that second half. I would have liked to see some more attacking attempts, sitting back as we did here won't always work, but I'll take it where I can get it. Mort of the same please for the next few months please.
Beating "Lower Tabled Teams"....love that Craig! What a superb night, I mean we probably took the foot off the gas a bit early, but it was solid, controlled and we always had it in the bag. Beautiful.
It was a joy to watch again dominated got 2 goals then managed the game perfectly isak, burn and hall were my standouts for the match they all had a fantastic game
I think it can be said that the corner has been turned 😂that first 35 minutes were simply amazing, away from home at a place where we never seem to win, we more than did that we humiliated them in that first half, onto Spurs 🎉
Another great report. Love you passion and give the good and the bad not like a lot of fan channels. Great end to the year for Eddie and his team. Imagine if we had a quality RW and a top draw goalkeeper who’s good with his feet. And a good shot stopper. Take us up another level
Always enjoy the videos Craig, outfield players were superb but I thought dubravka ball distribution was very good for us tonight looked calm and composed on the ball really helps to start an attack
Fantastic as always Craig, thanks so much mate, love your post match reviews. Completely agree with the 3 stars for Wor Dan, he was immense tonight and Botman will need to earn that place back. Lewis Hall, well what can I say, how many superlatives are there in the eng language 😊 Brilliant manager performance as well as a team performance tonight, just so happy mate. Wishing you and yours a very happy and healthy New Year Craig, all the very best mate👍🖤🤍🖤🤍
Hi Craig love listening to your take on these games more so when we win it's great to see our team play well and with some of the young players we have they will only get better as we play better football
Can never remember really fancying a win down there before, but I was worryingly confident beforehand and the lads came good again. Love listening to your analysis and merit marks Craig, even though I don’t always agree. Happy new year, and a cup winning one for 2025 PLEEEASE😊
Eddie should take a huge amount of credit for How good Lewis Hall is now, all that intense work behind the scenes has paid off 10fold. What a player, what a gaffer, what a club ⚫️⚪️
Bruno was brilliant! He needs a summer training regime next year to keep him fully fit for the start of next season! Gordon can still step up a little more. Isak is amazing but could be scoring even more! My goodness!!!!!
I'm glad you and most NUFC fans are basking in the victory..and rightfully so.I have a different view on that second half however. We dropped off and invited them and got lucky a few times. I'd like to see us continue to keeping our foot on opponents necks and manage the game, doesn't have to mean goingat them at 1000mph both halves..just maintain the control see the game out.
Eddie spoke about that after the game and I think he wanted a bit more, but was also a part of the experienced players slowing the game down, saving themselves a bit
@@jameswallbridge6674 fair point there. They have to be clever and pace themselves for upcoming games. End of the day we got the job done. Let's continue to enjoy it.
Bruno was amazing yesterday and was brilliant in the 2nd half too. Love your analysis, Craig, but you are harsh on Bruno earlier in the season. He may have been slower, but he was still covering the 2nd most distance in the league out of all players, so he was getting himself about. Anyway, playing him at 8 is working very well, and Tonali at 6 has been a revelation!
Bruno and Hall were epic, must admit Burn went under my radar a little. I was a bit worried second half, it felt the midfield 3 were a little less disciplined positionally, each marauding and drifting a bit from their position which I felt left us a bit exposed against that midfield 5 of man u
Craig , I watch many Newcastle United reports but yours are invariably the best . After watching that match you have mentioned bits I missed entirely ! Thanks for all your hard work
The first half was like watching a training match. Manure woke up in the second half but even then.. I love our confidence at the moment, the Liverpool 3-3 was a massive confidence boost because we're not scared of anyone at the moment. Edit: Man of the Match was Gordon for me, a constant menace and really composed whilst also closing down when necessary. 2 stars for Tonali and 1 for Big Joe.
I think Tino is every bit as good a player as Hall. He just needs better quality in front of him. Put Olise in our team instead of Murphy and Tino will show his true ability.
Wanted to mention Dubravka. I was of the opinion we should sell him in January but the guy is playing so much better than the 2nd half of last season. The defence were playing a lot of balls back to him, which Pope would have really struggled with. I don't think Pope is a certainty to come back in now.
9:45 The physicality of the Newcastle squad is not talked about enough. Last night in particular, having Tonali, Joelinton, Dan Burn, Bruno, Schar, even Hall bossing their markers, crushing players. Once Botman's back soon, we will have more of that :) Livramento is also very strong. As much as I love Gordon & Isak skillset, they would struggle without enough physically strong players around them.
That first 30 minutes was possibly the best I've seen Newcastle play in 60 years as a supporter. Supremely confident and dominant, admittedly against a poor team.
I think Dubravka has made a massive impact on the team as a whole 👌🏻👍🏻 it's like they are now playing with eleven players as apposed to ten and a half... I believe he brings that bit extra confidence to the defence and the play at the back 👍🏻
Im glad Dan Burn is getting his flowers. Been so good for us for the majority of this season and last night showed once again why he is THAT good. We outclassed them, love it!
We are starting to see the evolution that Eddie has been telling us for a while. Eddie Howe’s Mentality Monsters are getting better and better. The small changes and tweaks are now making the extra 1% or 2% that makes this team dangerous and now composed. Still room for improvement but they are believing they can beat all teams that they play. Historical result for the lads and a platform for them to build on. Agree with the Merit Stars for the game BDB was a colossus 😉👍🏻
We all remember how Steve Bruce was playing Big Joe as the lone striker, he look out of place and the fans were wondering if we had made a mistake signing him, Eddie Howe then came in and turn him into a midfield monster, who now has started to score brilliant goals also, thank God Eddie Howe became our head coach he's developing a well drilled squad.
Brilliant podcast Craig 👏👏👏 always better when we win. I watched game in my local ( Brockwell seam) pub and it was rocking in the bar - the first 45 was electrifying, pace, power and incisive, transfer window opens tomorrow !
Important not to get too carried away. Just as a couple of losses isn't an apocalypse, a few wins doesn't mean we're on course for world domination. Away to Spurs on Saturday (lunchtime KO) and away to Arsenal in the league cup next Tuesday night will give a better indication of how we're playing.
Wow, BDB gets the 3 stars. Love it craig. We all love the big fella when he's in this form. Just not ever again at left back eddie, please! Cheers as always craig.
Great performance, great result, great summary from you. I actually spotted you in a local bar the other evening, wanted to say hi, but it felt awkward. Next time I'll make the effort. 🍻

I think my only criticism was the lack of changes earlier. It's a massive month for us - starting with spurs and Arse away. We need to protect our best players.
Nailed about Burn! Absolutely noway on earth Botman walks back into this defense, he'll have to bide his time and wait for an opportunity, whether that's through injury or suspension. The Burn/Schar combo has been incredible 🖤🤍
First of all. Happy new year Craig to you and your family and I wish you all well. Wasn't it so sweet to outplay Man u on there own turf and basically shove some of that arrogance that they own down there own throats. It was well overdue. Let's hope that our fantastic form continues as a warning to the so called elite clubs that Newcastle are going to be at you for a long time to come. Howay the lads.
I'm saying this every week now - and isn't that a good thing? - but did I get the Merit Stars right? Or wrong? So many contenders!!

Got to take that mentality to Spurs now. Should get loads of chances at least given how Spurs are defending. No going back now on the Tonali in the middle and Bruno to the right of him in midfield. Much better team this way. Happy new year.
Lewis Hall! Outstanding tackles, keeping the ball in, confident, strong, putting his body on the line. Amazing!
Loved that dig lower table teams haha kudos Craig 👏👏
Yes. That was a good one !
Lewis Hall flying under the radar. Absolutely sublime he was.
Can he be trusted to take penalty?
Yes, his finishing is really poor. It’s time to start searching for a more clinical striker in the Jan window.
Your having a laugh. He missed a couple one on one but hes scored some screamers.
Even last night he scored an absolutel screamer but was offside.
Yeah despite his other skills he’s proper shit at it. He doesn’t even get close
@@dobryden8558So far he has scored every single penalty for Newcastle, so.. seems like logic
HWTL!
Great comment👌
Murphy was man of the match for me. Thought he was outstanding
Bruno for me. He ran the show and is back to his best. He looks leaner and fitter than he did at the start of the season
Great to see and hear your enthusiasm. Happy new year
Perfect craig- burn definitely 3points. I was in away end burn looked huge, classy, noisy and a real leader. Happy new year. Keep these coming Craig
We humbled that lot, love to see it!
I’m just happy with the result. Bruno was oozing quality. A few games ago I was worried about our ability to play triangles. Now we are probably the best in the league at it.
Bloody hell we are good. Up the table we go!!
I agree with your analyse and view that Nufc is a better and more evolved team this season - which is good with a natural progress and what was needed too. Thanks for your good videos and happy new year! /Seb swedish magpie
Couldn't agrre more about BDB. Happy New Year, Craig, HWTL!
I thought Lewis hall had a corker . Great assist, Perfect timed slide tackles, good runs, link up plays, throwing himself in front of the ball in front of goal
He's been pure class on a very permanent basis for a good while now, what a talent.
A genuinely believe that was brunos best performance in a black nd white shirt 🙌
Anyways, one thing i wish for, is that we become even more clinical infront of goal.
Love your videos Craig, always fair and insightful - your reference to ‘lower level teams’ was brilliant. Happy new year to you, and howay the lads!
That first 20 minutes was the best I've seen from us for as long as I can remember. Unplayable.
Thanks for your reporting Craig - really appreciate your regular chat. Happy New Year.
Love this channel , Newcastle are a top class team and this guy offers a first class insight
Thanks Billy!
Brilliant 3 points and what a run as we move into 2025, HNY Craig great reportage 2024
Outstanding lower league teams Man Utd. Imagine saying that 10 years ago. 😂😂
Its just great to be in a position to feel excited about every forthcoming game now.
Much appreciated, thanks Richard!
Fantastic enthusiasm and warranted. Excellent report 🏆
Great report, Craig : not many calling for Eddie’s head now ! Happy New Year !
Great performance first half we should have been out of sight by the break but hung on well
Can never remember really fancying a win down there before, but I was worryingly confident beforehand and the lads came good again.
Craig you are so passionate and interesting to listen to….Happy New Year ❤… kiwi Pom will be there to watch the home fixture at St James next year 🎉
I'm glad you and most NUFC fans are basking in the victory..and rightfully so.I have a different view on that second half however.
Can't believe I listen to a commentary from the Mail, but you are very good
Another brilliant post Craig. Spot on with the Bruno comments.
What’s your opinion on Luke Edwards?
Thank you for your match day update videos. Happy new year fella and look forward to more videos in 2025. Thank you 👍
Bruno and Hall were epic, must admit Burn went under my radar a little. I was a bit worried second half, it felt the midfield 3 were a little less disciplined positionally, each marauding and drifting a bit from their position which I felt left us a bit exposed against that midfield 5 of man u
Haha love your cheeky comment at the beginning very funny 🤣 happy new year Craig keep the great content coming 👍
Happy new year, Steve!
We made Man Utd look so poor, I'd like to see us control the game with possession.
UNITED are poor you loon 😂
That first half has to be one of the best under eddie howe we were so good fantastic result hwtl⚫⚪
That first 30 minutes was possibly the best I've seen Newcastle play in 60 years as a supporter. Supremely confident and dominant, admittedly against a poor team.
Brilliant video Craig Nice to hear someone with your experience giving the toon credit
Stunning review thank you from a man living near Manchester
Fantastic video Craig again, agree Dan Burn has been our unsung hero again. This is the new Newcastle United!
Thanks Monty. BDB is POTS so far.
A great win and so comfortable anarl.
We let them off the hook somewhat but I reckon we have saved ourselves for Spurs.
Agreed on BDB with ***. He was a monster in the 2nd half. He definitely wanted the cleansheet. Beast
Great performance, great result, great summary from you.
I actually spotted you in a local bar the other evening, wanted to say hi, but it felt awkward. Next time I'll make the effort. 🍻
Ha. Don’t be daft. Always say hello. Where was it?
@craighope_dailymail Twin Farms. I was with the family in frontofthe warm fire, you looked deep in conversation with someone. I didn't want to disturb you.
We live abroad, visiting family for Christmas. Maybe next year. Keep up the good work. 👍
Oh yeah, after a tournament nearby with my oldest boy. Always say hello though! I hope you enjoyed your stay.
Let’s not forget Gordon, he never stopped running all night
I think my only criticism was the lack of changes earlier. It's a massive month for us - starting with spurs and Arse away. We need to protect our best players.
Nailed about Burn! Absolutely noway on earth Botman walks back into this defense, he'll have to bide his time and wait for an opportunity, whether that's through injury or suspension. The Burn/Schar combo has been incredible 🖤🤍
Could be in against Tottenham, sher suspended
Dear Craig,
Canny video as always👍
It's the midfield trio which is making the Toon such a dangerous & effective winning machine👍👏✊🤘😎😊😁
Regards,
First of all.
Methinks Keegan will be loving this.
Nutmugged the referee …. He did too he’s settled and looks very good. This team looks as good as I can remember a toon team
Love the content as always Craig. Hall robbed of 3 stars 😂
Best wishes from Canada.
