As a candle maker, and wax melt maker, I would never recommend using essential oils in candles. It can be a fire hazard. Some makers do, but I’m assuming they’ve done their testing, and their percentages, and temperatures are good. I only use fragrance oils made for candle making. It’s not an easy process, and I don’t want to discourage anyone from doing a DIY, but it can be, and is a safety issue. Making candles isn’t as simple as melting some wax, adding fragrance, and grabbing a wick. There’s so much more to it than that, and we are playing with fire, at the end of the day. So many variables to consider…the type of wax, the vessel, the fragrance oil, the percentage of the fragrance oil, at what temperature to add that fragrance oil, stirring enough to bind the two, and what temperature to pour. There are so many wicks out there, and typically takes testing a ton of them to find the right one to go with not just the type of wax, but the size of the vessel, and diameter of the jar. I’ve never re-used a wick before, and I’m assuming it would be okay, but it depends on what you’re pouring it into. It’s truly a science. Be safe!
Hi Shannon, It is Saturday, Sept. 16, 2023 and i just worked 9 hours today at my job. I am so tired and i am just kicking back catching up on videos I have recd alerts gor this week. Even though this is from last year i love Christmas DIYs.. Last Christmas was the first Christmas I had not been in my Mom's house for 31 years and I was so sad I had a table top tree and a few decorations but did not go overboard as years past. I like overboard. 😅 My Mom's favorite word was JOY. For her it stood for Jesus Others Yourself and thats how she lead her life too. Thru tge years us kids gave her so many JOY items she finally said no more! When she passed away we all took our joy items back. My little place is so very tiny but I think this year it eill literally be filled with lots of JOY in every corner and I very much want to make your red JOY candles. I have a very large serving window with a wide window sill and I will put tte candles in tge middle but, Shannon, I am going to put the JOY letters on both sides so you see it in tge living room and also one side in the kitchen. I have large gold glittery letters on hand. Ihave an idea too for the Mason jar Christmas tree cut out. If i succeed at these crafts i will give you a shout out on instagram. I am offto bed. I have church early tomorrow. Blessings and Joy, Rebekah
I live in Georgia and we get a little bit of snow once in a great while…I’ve been here 10 years and 1 time we actually got cold thick (great packing snow) 3 inches of snow…the whole town closed down for a couple of days….it was so funny!
I have always loved winter, especially when it snowed. I lived in Maryland as a child (and well into adulthood) and loved sledding in the snow and ice skating at the nearby ice rink. Now I'm in North Carolina and don't get snow as often, but I have always loved the simple beauty and quietness of the snow. Both in Maryland and here in NC, living in the very rear of the neighborhood, with little traffic, the whiteness and beauty of the snow remains longer. I also have a wooded area behind my house, so the beauty isn't spoiled. It's so peaceful and quiet when it snows, making it even more enjoyable. ☃️🧣🧤⛸️🐧❄️
We live in the midwest also. I loved winter as a child. We would play outside all day, only coming in the house to get dry gloves. Now, I love Christmas and the month leading up to it, but not winter. Shannon, you have the absolute best craft and Christmas channels. Love them both! Your creativity amazes me.
I use to love to ski and ice skate now I love the idea of standing in side and watch the snow and birds in the snow. I enjoy your videos you are so creative.
I've gotten used to living in the Great North West. I look forward to fall I'm tired of the smoke from the fires. I like your cats it helps me stay motivated
I love all of these candle diys, but my favorite had to be the charger plate with the candles sitting at various heights that you added all the picks around. What a beautiful centerpiece it makes! I really liked the jars with the paint over the contact paper to make a small window & had never thought of using a floating candle inside and the jar rolled in Epsom salts, too. Both of them seemed more like diys to have my grands help make. Thanks for sharing!
I LOVE the variety and ease in all of these ideas! I use a cylinder glass vase to do a floating cranberry candle for my holiday centerpiece, and the extra height allows space to put a few sprigs of fresh rosemary in below the cranberry layer. Most grocery stores carry small packages of fresh rosemary year round, so super easy to find some and it looks SO lovely with the cranberries and candle!
You are extremely creative. Love, Love your ideas. I live in the Midwest as well. Love being able to wear my fall and winter clothes, love warm fires and the beautiful holiday lights and looks and a fresh snowfall but not the cold winter weather. 😃
Liked all your candle crafts, the bath salts making a frosty glow is the sweetest. I grew up back East in Southern New Jersey;, miss the snow and cold weather. I now live in Az, it's just hot here. Need all the winter decor to bring the season to life.
I am from K.C. But have lived in Portland, OR for 30 years. I love the winter as long as it is not raining all the time like in Portland or icey like it can be in K.C. I love the snow
Daniel 12:10 “Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.”
All ideas were so cute!!! I need to jump on the candle bandwagon. They make great gifts. Who doesn’t like a candle? Thank you for the great ideas!!! ❤️🎄
Wow! I love the candles with the napkins! Such cute ideas! I love winter…I live in Florida, so we look so forward to our few weeks of cool weather! Lol
Absolutely love all these ideas, especially the ones using the battery operated candles. I can't wait to get started on some of these! I live in NH, so I'm no stranger to bitterly cold winters! I don't mind the cold as much as the heavy snows we get, and blizzards, not to mention the occasional power outages! My favorite season is fall. Love the weather and our famous fall foliage!
not to mention the ice storms we have gotten here in NH that have made the power go out for a few weeks. (though we have not had one in a few years) I agree fall is my favorite season! love the colors and the crisp scent!
I have the battery candles too and love them. Most of them have a timer on the bottom with the on/off switch. so if you turn them on at sunset, they'll run for a few hours, then come back on at the same time every night. It's fun to watch them magically come on at night
I live in Florida. I do enjoy Florida Winters, as they're mild, and it's a nice change from the 80's and 90's that we get the rest of the year. The coldest weather I've ever experienced here is 20°F. I don't think I would like to live in the extreme cold. A few weeks of Winter is plenty for me. 🥰🎄
Rats! Last Christmas left me feeling like I was finally done with holiday decorating…just too much effort for so little return. But your sweet, creative and easy crafts have re-ignited me…I’m IN…again!….for Christmas decor! Thanks!!
Shannon, I LOVE the quart jar with the floating candle and other quart jar. Thay would be so beautiful for a banquet or wedding or anniversary with a little more decor with it.

Hello how are you doing today? And how is the weather over there?
I love the first few snowfalls, and white Christmases, then I like to go south for the rest of the winter!
I agree. When CS Lewis described a bleak time as "always winter but never Christmas," it really resonated with me.
Winter is my favorite season. Let it snow ❄️ let it snow ❄️ let it snow ❄️!
