My theory about this is that, i think everyone is kinda expecting a big gathering just like Among Us, in the social aspect i mean, but the games are entirely different, so after they make the most out of the objetives, there is nothing else to keep the servers alive.
The next thing to do ends up being just playing another game.
the thing about Rust is that it quickly became about gambling, anytime i joined someone's stream they were always gambling at the wheel
Rust is at its best on public servers. The organic experience of starting with nothing, being relentlessly hunted by psychopaths until you've thrown together a little shit shack, and surviving long enough to become the psychopath is the joy of the game. It encourages so much natural interaction that roleplay will never fulfil.
A full PVP streamer server where raided players/teams join the players/team that raided them and try to wipe out/capture the entire server could replicate this.
YEEESS .I do not understand how it is possible that people do not understand that, not all games are based on roleplay Rust is a good example clearly it is not designed to be played that way. The fun of the game is the one you described perfectly.

That does sound fun, but I think rust just needs to add more features to the game. And I don't mean props or items. I mean things like challenges, factions, in server events are awesome (like they did with the zombie stuff a few days ago). And lets face it, some of these content creators just aren't the best Role Players, things like that stuff i mentioned can help with that.

Compared to FTB and the Better Minecraft modpack, Toast spent more time on FTB and the server at that time didn’t die after two weeks.
Maybe it's because for the FTB server, Toast has the villain role so there's like a plot. The Better Minecraft mod server didn't get to start Ryan's Bakatsuki plot.. so yeah😬

But of course that should apply to everyone for servers to last long. Relax and RP is the way to go after grinding things. But people just stopped playing and never came back. 🥺🤷
The thing is ftb servee had many modded unlike the new vanilla otv server which makes most otv&friends hook up on MC many varieties they could pick and grind for even toast needed at least 2 weeks to literally grind his 3 nukes unlike vanilla literally in 2weeks almost 30% of them already had op items most of them are bored and got nothing to do waiting for the dev to released the higher tier weap,armors

The first rust servers were actually very entertaining. Ever since then, the Rust servers have just died. Also no offense but I feel like most people are just Rust frogs. I feel like most just watch the streams for the drops and just completely stop watching.
I think the rules and stuff make it hard for people to want to keep playing. People like starting from the very bottom and working up not the whole land plot thing - though it was interesting!
Not really. Rules, structure, and especially a storyline are needed for longevity. People started quitting the server because they grinded like crazy during the first few days and then became burnt-out because they had nothing else to do.
@@b4history32 they had nothing to do cause of the rules. u cant create a storyline if there nothing to do to create it. they werent allowed to just build w.e they wanted, they were restricted by the plot thing. its not burn out, its lack of content to do. people spent days, even weeks building things in the first server w/o feeling burnt. FTB also had much more interesting things to offer than this time, so that added more content for people to explore.
a lot ppl not used to rust complained about grinding for hours, being killed and losing it all.
what they don´t know or ignore is that the so called "pros" ALSO grind for hours and lose all the grind MANY times bf being able to build a base. "this is my 8th server", says spoonkid in one of his videos. and god only knows how many tries he did in each of the servers bf giving up.
if that stresses otv rust noobs so much, maybe looting should be forbidden.
@@hendrik8953 Looting and grind is not the issue, it is the fact that this grind is completely useless. Like what's the point of spending several hours collecting resources in Rust? In other games you farm to get more powerful to defeat a boss or something. Rust doesn't give any aims to players like another games would do. The whole gameplay is literally grind and raids on repeat, which, obviously, will get boring after a period of time.

The rust OTV server is like playing LOL but only talking in game and creating some story with every character with the chat. Not playing the objective and if someone kills you he get banned from the game.
I had some fun with a few friends playing 7 Days to Die and roleplaying a bit. It has some potential. I hope Muck keeps adding more content, I hope to see you play it again! But whatever you do is always great, come back to hearthstone haha :) thanks for being you man.
The fact that people are more invested on seeing if the server last long or not rather than the streamer playing the games is so annoying because they don’t even care about the game or the streamer and only talks about the server.
@@ishrakmujibift4269 yeah I get that, but people kept on talking about if the server will last a week, if it's better than the last, and so on... like even when streamers are still playing or are about to play, it will be brought up. That's what I'm saying when I say people are way invested on whether the server last long or not.

I actually do agree that people mention about it too much. And I remember that time when they said rust is dead, when it was still alive and vibing. It just makes it turn into reality faster.
Me and some mates regulary look for sandbox style games that encourage having a lot of players who progress through the game over multuple play sessions like Rust and Minecraft. Earlier this year was probably the first time in a while we got to play a new game like that with Valheim, but the next big one we are looking at is Eco, its still in development but I think it looks super interesting and if it is a good game I hope one day to see a large streamer playthrough!
Eco has such potential. It is a game that spans multiple days, has something the town is working for as a team because you are forced to coordinate while also competing. Also there is just so much can go because there is alot of roles that needs filling before your impending doom. Also it's great for role play.
The only downside I see is that it has a time limit which adds suspense but also limits it. Also it requires some attention semi regularly.
Me and a bunch of high school friends play Minecraft on a new world every summer, and we'd like play every summer vacation and the holidays. We've already had four separate worlds and the pattern there was somebody gets too busy on another thing and since we're in a tight friend group, it all just falls like dominoes till nobody is inviting to play for the night and then we stop completely.
I guess the best way to handle it is to just take it slowly and focus on actually prolonging it by only playing when everybody's actually around and able to do so like there are a couple days a week that you all play and not have the server on for 24/7. If someone actually ends up playing almost everyday, they get burnt out faster than anyone else and that person kicks off the dominoes.

@@freshweezyboy1733 it’s dumb but should be very expected, when you do stuff like drops mostly the only reason people are watching you is because of said drops, that plus it’s the rust community then it turns out really toxic. Everything has its downsides.
The servers die because there is no objective or goal to aim for. 80% of players just around looking for others to provide content for them but eventually the 20% that are trying to make fun content get tired/bored or run out of ideas. That's how you end up with people doing nothing but spinning a gambling wheel lol.
I think thats why you need a lot of small streamers to keep the interactions going. But a lot of the smaller streamers didn't get whitlisted until nearly a week later
@@diebuekill cap imo, sadding small streamers doesnt provide an objective in any way, interactions are great, but if theres nothing else to do its the same as just sitting in a discord call talking, saying you need lots of small streamers to make a server have longevity is cap AF, there are lots of ways to do it, gated progression is the one that comes to mind, with community events to progress what people are allowed to make and where they can build, the only issue is making it something that isnt flat grinding, and keeping the progression interesting and necessary, i dont think survival games in general can thrive purely off interactions between streamers, dream SMP is only as big as it is because of the storylines, but additionally, everyone there will keep playing minecraft even when its slow and boring, because they are minecraft streamers, with variety streamers like the majority of OTV and friends people just switch games when their bored and come back when something interesting happens, or when they have a clear objective goal to work towards.
@@joehicks929 thats the reason why otv server will not last long like what toast wanted to do bcuz like you said most otv circle friends arent committed on playing just 1 game most of them like fast paced game and variety games bcuz they can finish it with less than a day and they can discover something diff. Most of them even people like sydney,john,jody and celine still addicted to valorant so forcing them to play only 1 game to maintain the server will be gonna hard for them thats the reason why otv need to accept the fact that they need some people outside of their inner circle to make the content flow and make diff set of variety roleplay just like what gtarp is doing right now.
I understand why toast doesnt want to add random people for their security sake also but lets be real here most of them doesnt last long on 1 game server bcuz most of them gets bored easily so itll be hard to maintain a server if the player isnt committed also
@@joehicks929 look on their current minecraft server people like michael and miyoung really want to continue playing MC but almost 90% of otv friends arent active anymore its boring if theres literally only 2 or 1 of you in the server they tried to some gta rpers but its already too late for them thats why toast need to adapt on the systematic or processing way on how to handle a server if he really insisting of making it last long on their next MC /Rust server he can either.
1. Make more modded or new unique ways on the game like event or something that can hook and hype up the player (otv friend)
2. Invite some committed streamer to maintain their server like how they invite rayc and hjune om their rust server look what happen om their 1st and 2nd time rust its actually success someone is committed to play the game even xqc are added to the server eventhough hes not otv friend so adding more outside otv will be useful to them but had a disadvantage.
3. Create a scripted scenario learn in advanced on how to make a great storyline like how dreamsmp do their server they are still active bcuz they have consistent roleplay on their MC

Well, the last ftb server after the reset was near christmas and it died even before christmas.. like wendy and hannah built a gigantic christmas tree and a lot of gimmicks for christmas party but sadly it never happened

Set of varieties that they want if otv wanted to makes another mc server they need something like that unique and more modded so that most otv&friend wont get bored easily

honestly u guys just lacking the content to sustain in the long run that people will be very invested for a longer period of time, for sure take ur time to explore ur options! Even it lasted a short while, is actually decently entertaining

Yeah I think PvE servers die quickly because there is really no threat to your progress.
And because everyone is being friendly and helping each other there is no struggle to succeed.
There needs to be some kind of coordination, maybe someone can create the story. It is fun watching random occurrences for the viewers, but as a streamer it will get stale and die out eventually. The cat lore was fun to watch and the streamers looked like they enjoyed it because it is semi-coordinated.
Yeah, some very loose form of story would be nice so that everyone can insert themself into it but it still has some form of consistency

I remember the FTB Server being exclusive to the friend group. Then when it started dying, that’s when you guys started adding people. Maybe they should just do that again? Idk it really depends on you guys. I’m excited to watch whatever.
The thing is most otv&friends is mostly variety streamer no matter how much fun or enjoyable the game is they will always look something diff. Thats why most of them like,loves games like valorant,among us,lol,teamfight tactics bcuz this kind of gamed are fast paced and can finish with less than an hour people there are some people on otv inner friends circle who get bored easily on the game and i can assure you no matter how many server they create it will never last long a year (i hope it will happen like how dream smp did their own)

Honestly it's hard to run servers as *mostly peaceful* without it being basically a full RP server with requirements to stay in character. Rust is probably a fairly difficult one specifically because I feel like the end goal is just base building and defending/raising bases.
I've done some Ark and Atlas RP before and it feels SO much better because there's just more to do, even if you end up just grinding for a decent chunk of time.
Whenever there are multiple people involved in a project they need a leader or the project falls apart. Be that leader toast.
As someone who owned 2 Ark servers and couple Minecraft servers with friends, I can say, that servers die. People don't have time, are moving do m to different games or just got bored. And we didn't had to calculate in viewership. And each person that leaves, another will follow. It is less and less fun with each person missing

Rust: Creators vs. Viewers
I mean Big Streamers vs. Small Streamers. Everyone loves David vs. Goliath underdog story. Thanoast the big Baddie
Yeah but if you look at it that way, most rust streamers would be considered small by the standards of OTV. So what would actually happen would be about 4 hours of play time by which point you'll have the rust streamers beaming the rest with AKs and then the OTV members logging off.
Streamer server is good once in while. Alot of people will burn out and need a change of scenery and streamer server of any game is good for streamer 'meetup'.
The otv better minecraft died because toast was the 'mayor' of that server where everything is going thru him. He was dictating everything despite not being on it. And then he shuts down ryan evil plan during the talent show. So yeah toast being a mayor was a 'failed experiment'
Maybe try to just do certain buildings/areas as designated safe zones and a battlefield for the rest
Maybe have the areas in and around large structures be PVP areas so people have to fight if they want higher tier resources (the better the resources, the larger the pvp area). Then people who have nothing don't have to feel like they're getting crushed or that advancement is impossible.
Any player base of a certain tier or loot level should also be a pvp area, that way people can't just rest on their laurels.
Would love to see a rust server where Sykunno and Rae go tryhard shooting and looting. I guess allowing offline raiding would be tough because you would need really big groups with different schedules so maybe the server is only open 16 hrs a day or just no offline raiding.
Maybe toast shouldnt be the mayor next time around. He should let someone who's more active to be the leader in the next minecraft server. Maybe streamers wont dip easily if it is being run by someone who is actually active.

To counteract the lack of "long term commitment" when it comes to a server, why doesnt OTV hire a "storyteller" that gives Options.
For now you guys have tested alot of different games and you should have enough data to know what gives an average amount of viewers.
That way you can plan ahead.

I really liked the Minecraft stuff this time around and usually I really don't enjoy it (just not my thing). All the land plots and rules made it fun for me. Leslie was an integral part of some of the most dynamic parts of it imo. From pinkbucks to Poki's dragon.
The thing is the new vanilla server didnt show something unique thats why most otv friends get bored easily one of the reason is they played ftb server last year which has many modded literally more mod than in this vanilla server. Each otv friends have their own varieties to grind and also they play rlcraft more vicious and more difficulty in killing monster bcuz of how hard monster is on that world + dragon are literally in there so i guess most of them get easily bored bcuz they literally saw most what vanilla server can show us with their last mc server
It all comes and goes. Open world games like Rust and Minecraft are the ones that get people together, especially when each had their own roles and others making stories to make it unique. PvP is that part of each game that when taken out or put into a limited area, that's when people lose interest. Every server is a trial and error thing. Like the FTB Minecraft.
One thing I feel like people don't realise about these OTV servers is that most of these guys aren't minecraft streamers or rust streamers. They're mostly variety/gamers, so it doesn't make sense for them all to forcefully maintain a server if they're not personally inerested.
Bless the few people in chat mentioning ARK. I, too, would love to see them play modded ARK one day. However, I understand that it wouldn't produce much content besides the initial shenanigans and harsh survival conditions at the beginning of the game.
The answer is simple, the servers get rust and stop working

Rust is just an older game it's been around for a good few years now... same thing with GTA, that's a 6 y/o game. Once everyone had done everything 10x over it became boring. GTA no pixel is surviving because of the constant changes in the world and everyone's story arcs.
I'd recommend OTV trying Scum. It's still in development but a great playable version has been available for 3 years now. It's like a mix of Day Z or H1Z1, The Sims, with a bit of Rust. Huge open world, crafting, killing, zombies, robots, hunting, vehicles, etc and the most interesting part is the bot shops some servers have. The shops connect through discord and is just a cool addition along with a bunch of other stuff you can do. I'd love to see them play it.

minecraft feels like it'd be hard to get everyone together in one spot for some sort of skit or roleplay since each streamer has their own first person view
I dont think most of otv+f are able to commit on sandbox games and it is ok but if they really want the server to last longer they need to invite a lot of people outside of their circle who are willing to commit to play in the server at least to keep it alive so otv+f could come back and play it again anytime they want

If toast wanted to maintain he really need someone(random or friend streamer) who will maintain the server even if they all quit until they got back sadge but i dont want to see that someone forcing themselves to play the server just to maintain it
I think that the reason they didn't last the 2nd time around was because there wasn't any structured content.
If you look at the hermitcraft minecraft series, they have had several successful seasons because the individuals experiment with new styles as well as making up storylines.
Unless new content is being brought to the table, people will lose interest and the server will die.

OTV roleplay factions on Minecraft might be an amazing crossover between GTA RP and chaotic Rust.
I get it though...yall seem to be punished for wanting to branch out, and to some degree that's just the reality of how internet trends work. But I really do believe in yall's creativity and chemistry. As for the viewers, we need to be more patient and not so discouraging cuz clearly OTV is trying to figure something out so we can watch them play as a group again.
I think rust needed to have like different factions just to cause conflict. I get that there's some streamers that might not want conflict but rust is a game where you do kill other players and survive. Maybe have like a team deathmatch in there or something. If it's to peaceful then there's not much to do in there. For Minecraft maybe increase the difficulty of mobs or something that encourages player interacting and cooperating with each other to kill something. The thing with progressing in games is that if you progress too fast, there's not much to do while if the content is too hard, it could discourage people from playing it. Being OP does feel nice but it can cause people to feel less satisfied in the long run while being too weak can discourage people from doing things.
Finding the balance can be hard for games where they might nerf certain thing from being too op. It's like a new character in a game is released, it usually always starts off overpowered, then would get weaker after a few patches.

That was amazing server I enjoyed many streamers role play shroud family , Charlie trash management, choco the cannibal etc. I wished it last longer to see Hjune bring the whole family to see what their ex-member did in the name of the blood god lol it really cheered me cuz my brother died at the same month this server been created rip brother

I mean with Minecraft they specifically invited their circles only and most of otv aren't Minecraft streamers so they lacked content after their objective done, they didn't have story line. In rust, they added a lot of people but it's Rust, it's just made for killing each other and oil rig and gambling.

I really don't think the new otv server is gonna do well with a modpack
I just think they should play Minecraft 1.18 without Mods
Imagine if they played New World, perfect balance of PvP and PvE
But then they’d have to deal with other players including fans stream sniping them
In my opinion the new server didn't really interest me because there's not a lot of diversity in how a lot of them played because a lot of them had singular goals of getting diamonds to buy land. In the FTB days I remembered being interested in it because a lot of people progressed in different ways. Sykunno just wanted to get the most OP gear early. Rae and Abe did floral magic together. Lily just wanted to build a cute little house. Micheal was exploring coding robot turtles through mods. Miyoung being a psycho. toast's role-playing interesting characters. Ludwig making a casino. Ash making babies (that came out wrong). This amount of diversity gets even more interesting when one person's specialty clashed with another, like how miyoung started stealing Ash's babies. Or ludwig hiring Otto to make robots for him. The fact that everyone in the server is forced into one goal loses a lot of interesting collaborative content. Even though I strictly don't play modded, the content itself drew me in because of the kind of interactions it allowed them.
I think you guys should give Don't Starve Together another go. Now when you understand the game a little bit and will not just die on the first night lol. There is so much to do in that game, always new things to explore. It is similar to minecraft, but new for all of you, so I think you will have fun
If they wanted to have a long lasting servers that reach for at least 3 months to 6 months...
They should at least have a storyline, a story that is so good that people that are playing and the audience will always look forward to what happens next. There's no need to roleplay, but half roleplaying can also be good

They tried doing tribes of midgard and already telling you this type of mmo doesnt even last long to people on otv&friends their content are most likely fast paced game like valorant,lol,among us, teamfight tactics who cam finish within an hour or less so i could think that they'll tried it at least until their sponsor ends or within 1months at least. Look on genshin impact even people like scarra doesn't play it anymore tina and sykkuno just only playing it for sponsorship but doesnt grind too much or play that game anymore

Wait the Minecraft server only took a week of setup? Even without playtesting which to be fair, I don't think it had a thorough playtesting. But even without that, it would take one or two months to set up something proper. For a week's work, it actually held up quite well all things considered. Might've gone for another two weeks as well if it wasn't for the weekend shutdown, which isn't to point fingers to be clear on that :') Just as a factual statement, relaunches are always way harder than keeping it going consistently because you break the momentum it has going. You can't get that momentum back unless you make a big spectacle out of it again with a huge content update or a clean wipe or something of the likes to give people that hype to get it going again. Also didn't help of course that of all the fresh blood you guys invited only a small percentage actually decided to show up :P A larger MC SMP main creators audience could really help a future launch because those guys have experience in how to keep a server interesting for a year or longer, it's their job to keep it interesting right so those people could be very valuable assets to a server if you can get them on board.
Try crazy craft or insane craft or maybe even a mod about magic.

I like the idea of a rust server but I think next time maybe get 300 people whislisted before the launch. Announce the official launch date a month in advanced and a few times after that. My logic is if you got like 300 people then you don't mind killing people because you don't know 2/3rds of them. I think it is important to start everyone on the same day because before people were getting whitelisted a week later and who wants to be that behind trying to build a base and get a team. Also I think the success of the server is really going to depend on the state on GTA RP which I think a lot of streamers are still pretty addicted to.

Let me update you otv server already create rlcraft mod before making ftb server you can just look on UA-cam about their journey on rlcraft most otv doesnt like rlcraft bcuz all the hype was just kill a mob of monster(most mod their are limited unlike ftb ).
They like server mod like ftb who has more modded.
Otv inner circle friends literally had a diff set of varieties to grind for their content to show us viewers when they play on ftb server so i dont think making another rlcraft is great for their content bcuz just like vanilla server (current) it will just die too easily

they’re too tame add different less kid friendly creators it just gets boring like toast remember when you robbed those girls that edgy humor went semi viral have creators that fuck around and add them to your servers and I say this as a fan of yours and otv I might be way off but i think it would help with mass appeal honestly I’m going to keep watching regardless
