    Great video. I really appreciate these long walk throughs. Would have loved to see the plugs and what you were looking at to determine that they could take more timing. I am trying to tune my wife's 64 nova, LSX, 88mm turbo, no intercooler, dominator, E85, on the street and it has not been easy to learn for the first time around. Luckily the LS3 that was in it before was previously tuned for E85 professionally, but we engine swapped it after it blew, and now it has a bigger cam in it, so the old tune is pretty off, but getting there. Get feeling better!

    Joe, this car is a great example of how slow the GM air temp sensors are. You can see in the datalog that the sensor shows a gradual rise in temperature throughout the run. The actual temperature should follow the boost curve on a non-intercooled setup. Would be cool to see a comparison versus one of the new fast-response sensors out now.

    • @hydrocarbon82
      @hydrocarbon82 Рік тому

      I beg to differ. You can see it immediately nose over when he let's off. As boost risies it actually gets into a more efficient zone. If efficiency started dropping, you'd see it ramp up faster. Grab a mid-90's Honda IAT if you want to see slow, it takes 5 seconds to register any heat from your finger. On a 25psi pull it would go up 2-3F max.

    • @minnick99
      @minnick99 Рік тому

      @@hydrocarbon82 Anything less than an immediate rise with the boost curve is a delay. I would really like to see this yested with a variety of sensors in the piping before the intercooler.

    • @Shawn_lsx
      @Shawn_lsx Рік тому

      The biggest difference I noticed with the fast-response sensor is when you let off the throttle getting out of boost. It was a slope down with the stock sensor. With the fast sensor it is more of a concave U shape and the temp drop is alot faster.

  • @woodgrain18
    @woodgrain18 2 роки тому +1

    LoL that's pretty close to what my z28 looks like under the hood LOL except I run M1! My turbo placement is tad different I'm running a Huron Speed hot side I've been running since march 2018 it's been through 3 different iterations 1st was actually a nice street /strip setup killed the sbe ls1 with a gnarly ass ljms can with Pac springs making 708whp turned up through a th400 with the air to air from the kit then swapped a gen4 aluminum sbe 5.3 with the cam from the ls1 made 823 for a while (same intercooler) this was all on vp 110 gas and both motors ran the same s485 turbo with 1.32 t6 housing until my non tuning ass put way to much on the scramble and bent some rods and broke ring lands the car has also been on holley efi hp ecu since 2018 even now my tuner only allows me to play with the ramp and what it leaves on lol definitely not a tuner Im still learning but haven't learned much LoL! Setup number 2 was a sbe ls2 with a healthy off the shelf btr turbo grind with there valve springs and 120 push rods and ls7 lifters this was 180,000 mile ls2 lol I also picked up a prc cnc'ed 799's and the same intake I think that is on that car a summit 102mm sheet metal intake and TB deal they sell as a package with Bosch 210's this time I swapped over to ignite e90 and bought a Chinese air to water intercooler from frozen boost with 5 gallon ice/water tank this was a pretty stout setup I didn't dyno this setup the pb with the 5.3 was a 5.74 I think and this combo went a best of 5.59 @ 119mph maybe a little faster not 100% sure that's been a while ago 2019 to be exact but the car was getting more on the strip side of steet/strip setups lol ! The 3rd and current setup basically race car it's on methanol but it is that same ls2 block I had that got half filled .o5 over and Summit ls pro 4" crank, rods and piston's 403ci with a set of completely rebuilt LSA heads with Manley valves and Wilkes performance that's local to me they got there most aggressive c nc port they do on lsa castings morel btr custom grind can & 685 srings and comp pushrods a used set of fresh Johnson lifters I ran a stock ls 3 intake with billet atomizer 325# injectors ran them for a month and was done with them I ended up spending a ton of money on a holley low ram 16 injector ready intake and 16 Bosch 210's I done a rock solid motorsports tubular front end kit and got all the weight I could for the least amount of money it's still a all steel and glass car except the hood it's down to 3200 with me and 5 gallons of m1 it's got a gt5591 that needed rebuilt so it went to Jose at forced inductions to be freshend up and his 11 blade billet wheel it's been a best of 5.18 @ 134mph it's got more mph in it but I'm pouring the coals to it as much as I can before the 330 it's been together and running awesome for a year and I still haven't ran it super hard on the big end 32 pounds is all I've hit it with so far but its enough for me at the moment I live in North Alabama and two out of three of my local tracks have short shut downs except for Huntsville. I ran rotella for about 3 months but I've been running Schaffers race oil since it's good shit.
