As a French, I used to lived and worked in sg but for the last few years I choose to move to kl, such a nice place to stay, I got bored living in sg, place is crowded, people are stressed and rushing all the time, always the same places etc. In kl, life is so much relaxed, people are friendlier, properties are more spacious, everything is better for me. Never regretted to leave sg 😅

Point of view noted. What made u choice asean over like Portugal which is also a popular destination?

@@JOSHTANLIVE I been to Portugal several times in the past, nice place indeed but it's still an European country with similar culture with France and you need to speak Portuguese if you want to fully integrate into the society. Whereas in Malaysia or Singapore for instance, english is widely spoken and living or working won't be a problem. And in general asean is more active and offers more opportunities than countries in Europe which are facing a lot of economical, political and immigration challenges just to name a few.
Portugal is good if you are retired or looking to get their golden visa package (for those wanting to settle in Europe).

@@limbehh8494 yes. Indeed. And this is a public place where people express their views, so there is nothing wrong to do it. Other people might also share similar views and if people can't accept it, then they shouldn't read comments right 😊.

Testing the life in JB now and we're sold - planning to apply for the nomad visa next year and moving here! For anyone who can detach their income with location + have no commitments to stay in a place, 100% recommend trying to experience different parts of the world to live in.
Life's too short so why not make micro lives within our years here!

Agreed with the points made. Given the current trend of work settings
lifestyle as digital nomads or work from anywhere, it’s possible to stay/rent 6-12 months in Kuala Lumpur, another 6-12 months in Penang/Ipoh or East Malaysia.
As for the visa, it’s called DE Rantau programme.

Waiting for new MM2H criteria to be made. Understand it will be lowered to somewhere like before it was raised to the present ridiculous level. Once the MM2H can be settled, staying several months in different places/ states would be an interesting retirement opener..... sian already can hop around neighbouring countries like Bali, Phuket, Danang, etc... all having lower costs of living compared to singapore. Thats my plan anyways 😊

The digital nomad pass basically is a repackaged professional visit pass - which allows for up to 12 months of multiple entries. Usually need a company to sponsor but in this case MDEC is the sponsor (their IMDA) . for tax yes, if you're in malaysia for more than 60 days, need to pay tax. Tax bracket i believe is based on their income tax law but more details can be found on the FAQ section of the De Rantau. Just 2 cents after studying it for so long - going to apply soon!

Singaporean talk freely like living in JB or Malaysia. Just ask yourself, if you are singaporean, how on earth are you living in Malaysia without long term visa?????Singaporean just assume they can go in and out from Malaysia immigration anytime they like. The truth is, you just need one faithful day where the immigration officer will stop you from going in. Social visa is mean for social visit, and not for you to stay there and live there like your own country. Except if you apply for RM1million MM2H visa. So pls do not think to stay in JB or Malaysia long term without first solve your long term visa, otherwise you are at the mercy of the immigration mood.

If we speak on a long term in fifty or sixty years the country and the government will face huge problems such as growing in population no enough space area for the new generation to live as well as the accommodation availability no more place to visit or to travel they wish they didn't got the independence from Malaysia where to bury their dead bodies we have seen these things during the corona pandemic

Reginald Koh can stay in KL. Sure. Is he a SG citizen? Or is he a MLY citizen? Anyway he is NOT bumiputra. He should know better. Houses in KL have better value than those in Johor. Although only for staying and no hope of rise in property value. And only in choice areas like Damansara Heights. As for the whole of Johor property - forget it - REJECT. Beware of Violent Crime. Also for a single to go and stay - maybe OK. Not for those with small school going children. One positive point for KL - the food is superior to SG.
