The thing about the guest characters in Fortnite is that because they're just skins, sometimes being a fan can make it more of a turn-off. Like, take Vergil. He's extremely distinct not only in his appearance and voice, but also his moveset and behavior. If he's running around with guns, that automatically takes the wind out of my sails at least a little.

If Fortnite brings lootboxes to the game (big if) as their new main source of new cosmetics, they better not getting rid of the direct cosmetic purchase. Make it so that new cosmetics are exclusively in lootbox then added overtime to the direct purchase shop, and even then, they can't be stingy with in-game currencies to the point of draconian. I think that's a good balance ideally, but companies won't do it

I try to avoid the many reveals from this games since it just depresses me this amazing crossover is for a game not for me but happy for those who like the game. I will say the community also kept me away for a bit but even then just the Battle Royale format ain't for me.

Sure they’re just skins but sometimes when the characters appear they also come with items for a limited time to replicate their moves, for example Spider-Man had his web shooters during his season, Wolverine had his claws, Doctor Doom could throw green magic shit, Predator could turn invisible, but you have to play when they are introduced cause it usually only lasts a few months after it’s introduced

For some people the appeal of fortnite isnt the building its the cool cross overs. Having to play a shooter and getting a skyscraper built on you makes it less appealing for casuals.

Eh, you can say it's "hypocritical", but at the end of the day, people have their preferences. You just have to accept that. As someone who's been playing Fortnite since Season 1, I would not lose sleep if Max never played though I will be extremely happy when that day comes. I applaud Epic for knocking down 1 of his caveats with the no build mode, only a matter of time when they add all his favorite characters.

The skins aren't actually limited-time (well most of em). Example here are the StarWars skins which comes back this May & returns if there's a new show/movie in the starwars franchise.
Every skin eventually gets back into the store to purchase it again(or mostly every skin, you have to daily check the store rotation). Marvel skins get back into store almost every month.
They can add all these skins, but it doesn’t make the game better, Fortnight is still shallow and corporate. I will never give them my money I don’t care how sexy that Sakura alt costume is.
I am glad that Max has kept his principles and not taken the easy way out, taking sponsorships on stuff he's not interested in. Anytime someone does that I lose respect for them. The idea of having guest character skins over existing characters is great idea. For me I wish more games other than Fortnite and Brawlhalla utilize it more. I know Smash Ultimate had echo fighters but that was only limited to some characters in the base roster only.
I had a similar idea for Master Chief and Doomguy for Smash. Instead of different character, Both Master Chief and Doomguy has all the same moveset but different cosmetic such as guns and sword.

Second of all, don't you think that's just as petty in a way? Letting forces outside of your control affect your potential enjoyment of a game? But when so much of the game and the community is glued to that one bullshit it gets difficult to just accept the bad and go on (unlike some other cases with me and a lot of people like borderlands). Hard to fault epic for banking on it since its easy money but it doesn't make it any less annoying.
It would have been easier if i actually liked the gameplay of fortnite but it's never been my cup of tea until like now with the no building mode. Still even then i get some psychic damage from that bullshit.

Sure they’re just skins but sometimes when the characters appear they also come with items for a limited time to replicate their moves, for example Spider-Man had his web shooters during his season, Wolverine had his claws, Doctor Doom could throw green magic shit, Predator could turn invisible, but you have to play when they are introduced cause it usually only lasts a few months after it’s introduced

It’s weird for someone that doesn’t like fighting games to be dumbed down and for someone that tries to get people to not be afraid of fighting games. You show the same attitude to fortnite with building.
For some people the appeal of fortnite isnt the building its the cool cross overs. Having to play a shooter and getting a skyscraper built on you makes it less appealing for casuals.

Eh, you can say it's "hypocritical", but at the end of the day, people have their preferences. You just have to accept that. As someone who's been playing Fortnite since Season 1, I would not lose sleep if Max never played though I will be extremely happy when that day comes. I applaud Epic for knocking down 1 of his caveats with the no build mode, only a matter of time when they add all his favorite characters.

The skins aren't actually limited-time (well most of em).
Example here are the StarWars skins which comes back this May & returns if there's a new show/movie in the starwars franchise.
Every skin eventually gets back into the store to purchase it again(or mostly every skin, you have to daily check the store rotation). Marvel skins get back into store almost every month.
Stuff from battle pass almost never re-appears
They can add all these skins, but it doesn’t make the game better, Fortnight is still shallow and corporate. I will never give them my money I don’t care how sexy that Sakura alt costume is.

The idea of having guest character skins over existing characters is great idea. For me I wish more games other than Fortnite and Brawlhalla utilize it more. I know Smash Ultimate had echo fighters but that was only limited to some characters in the base roster only.
I had a similar idea for Master Chief and Doomguy for Smash. Instead of different character, Both Master Chief and Doomguy has all the same moveset but different cosmetic such as guns and sword.

Fortnite also doesn't have something that hooks me good. Yes, there's tons of characters that I like, but as they're skins, they don't feel as the characters (Having Predator and Wolverine dancing is funny in perspective) isn't enough to make me want to give a shot, y'know.
