"Like we respect the diehards, we certainly acknowledge the diehards, but we're not dropping 900 bucks. We're just not! We're for sure not. Well, we might, eventually..." lol, rewatching this video because I'm about to pull the trigger on the Lomo Wide and... oof, I felt that. Also, love how far your channel came. This video is still great, but you can already feel a certain level of refinement in the more recent ones, even compared to this level of quality.
Thank you Ben!! I’ve definitely tried to keep cranking the quality meter up, slowly but surely! This was like the second video I ever shot, crazy to look back on and it’s only been a year!
I love this shirt, aligned so incredibly well with my interests I smashed buy before even knowing what happened. Was totally delirious. Lost an entire month of memory. Thanks for peeping the channel Nate!
I found one for less than 100CAD (80USD) and then watched this review. You deserve more subscribers. Hopefully the person responds and I can get it today. It'll be the first polaroid camera I'll ever touch!
the size comparison with polaroid sizing was very helpful in letting me know that my polaroid album will fit the instax wide! did you have any light sensor problems? matt day and a couple of other reviews have had problems with the camera not knowing when to use f.8 or f.12
I have had a few issues with that, but certainly not a ton. I almost always underexpose Instax film so I suppose I am compensating for that potential problem. And yes, Instax Wides/Polaroids can be great album mates! The size similarity is very helpful for that.
Loving the channel so far! Even with the Fuji hate which sometimes prevents me to understand their products from a neutral pov. Is this Lomo wide as bad as the reviews online say? They all say it overexposes photos on purpose to make you waste film and purchase more. Also that the focus is very difficult to nail. Can you give your honest and objective opinion? Thanks!
It's some serious spy gadgetry! Honestly though I would have preferred them to include the 10 second timer button instead. Just easier, one less thing to think about and put batteries into.
Great content as usual. I still can't decide between this and the InstaxWide300, I own them both and (to me) they both have terrible cons : I really dislike the "lomo quality" on the Lomo and on the Instax one, we barely have any control over the shot, it's too automatic (especially the flash, which has ruined a bunch of photos for me). So, yeah, waiting on a new Wide camera that takes quality shots and offers control to the shooter!
Thanks dude! I agree about the issues with both. My personal favorite is the Instax 500AF which fixes many of those problems, but still with its own drawbacks. The best option is surely the RF70, fully manual control, and that's probably the best we're gonna get. Shame about the price tag!
Hi Ben. Love the channel. Thanks for the review. I see a lot of reviews that are critical of this camera because of inconsistent exposure vs the Fuji 300. I'm wondering if you noticed any such issue or if Lomography has addressed the issue in their more recent production? Would appreciate your thoughts.
Thank you Steve! Light meters on 3rd party cameras are known to be less consistent than major manufacturers, but that's just sort of part of the process. Really it wasn't a major issue for me with the Lomo Wide.
Cool vid! I have this camera and while it is fun, it does have a few downfalls. It’s prone to overexposure, so whenever I’m outdoors I use the -1 setting. Also the markings in the viewfinder aren’t accurate. When you’re 1-2m away from your subject, the markings don’t count at all. You will still get everything you have in the viewfinder and even more, thanks to the rather wide-angle lens. Mine also originally came with a remote control, but fortunately, Lomo was fast to send me a replacement.
Agreed about the markings and the general framing difficulties, not ideal. Really wish they could somehow engineer a centered viewfinder so at the very least you had one axis of accuracy when framing. I also always use the -1 exposure setting, seems to work well in most circumstances!
Your content ist gold. The only good reviews came from 'photography concentrate' and there were informativ but also so long and no humor. Good production, good cuts, appreciation for instant cameras and little bit funny. I like your stuff. Greetings from Berlin. ps: would like to see a review of the 'instant square sq6'
I love the idea of this camera and all of its features, but the copy I have regularly doesn't spit out the film at the beginning of a cartridge. Usually the first three or four shots don't eject and I have to cover the lens and knock it about as I hit the shutter multiple times. I want to love this camera, but it's just failed me too many times.
I like to keep my subscribed list low but this guy has way too little subscribers for the quality and work he puts into his videos. Insane more don't subscribe. Amazing stuff man!
I honestly prefer the point and shoot aspect of the instax wide 300. The feel and quality of the Lomography camera is too plasticy for my liking and although it does come with a lot of bonus features for creative freedom, I don't feel I'd take advantage of them.
Soo which one better handles exposures better and take better pictures! Is it the instax wide 300 or Lomo instant wide? I have searched soo many reviews but still have a hiccup choosing one! :)
Which takes better pictures is totally in the hands of the photographer. Both cameras are only light boxes, what you do with them is up to you! If a simpler camera like the Wide 300 will help you realize your vision, then go with that. If the dreamier look of the Lomo with more manual control will do more for you, go that route!
Ok, this thing it's really creepy. Just today I started to do some research about the Lomo'Insta Wide and the instant Square and BOM! Here you post a video about one of them, I take this as a sign,.....or maybe.....are you spying on me?!?!

Correct, there are almost no instant cameras that show your framing exactly through the viewfinder, other than the notable Polaroid SX-70 and SLR 680s.
@@InAnInstant not really. im using square 6 and i got what i wanted through the viewfinder. maybe there is still a difference but i think its small thats why i didn’t remember how it look when i look through the viewfinder
The viewfinder on the SQ6 is just a window you’re looking through - it isn’t attached to any mirror system to show you what you’re 100% seeing through the lens. It is not as offset as it is on the wide cameras, but that’s simply something to get used to. There are framelines inside which I’ve shown in this vid that help guide you toward accurate framing. It takes some getting used to, as does estimating focus distances.
Boy, Polaroid is so short of features comparing to this thing. And yet, I love Polaroid's square film the most on the market (the wide format feels somewhat… disproportionate?)-why don't Lomography just make a camera like this for the i-type film?
So interesting, I kind of agree about Instax wide's aspect ratio, it's technically proportioned to a 3x5 photograph which should more or less be familiar to us but really it does feel almost too wide. Spectra is (was) that awesome middle ground between the formats.

* its from "99 i remebr it because i made first pictures in the new milenia :D also they have 3 cameras, the 100, 210, and 300 , one could think they are the same camera in diferent bulbouse shitbodies
P.S. I don't understand why more cameras don't use Instax Wide. It's a really nice looking film, but I never use it because the cameras are awful or painfully expensive.
Ants are the real MVPs! And re: Instax Wide - totalllyyyyy agree with you. Insane that better cameras don't exist for the format. The Instax Square and Mini are too small for my preferred use and the wide format is such a great canvas for the clean Instax chemistry. But unfortunately it's just been ignored hardware-wise and frankly that makes me nervous it will be the first to be discontinued.
@@InAnInstant That worries me, too. I wish Fuji would see some kind of value in small-batch filmmaking. I guess they don't have to care about that if they cure the virus, but yeah ...
I said "2 cameras since the year 2000" - the 100, 200, and 500AF were released from 1998-2000. The only two cameras they've released in the last 20 years for the format are the 210 and 300.
So instant cameras have not improved since I had one in the 70s. Offset viewfinder, dodgy lens, manual zone focusing. Given a few packs of film cost as much a the camera who is this aimed at ? People who spend a few hundred dollars on blurry photoghraphs and then move on ?
One of my favorite cameras EVER. I loved the soft dreamy look the lens produced. Instax film is just better imo than Polaroid, so having a wide option is a plus. If the viewfinder it removal could I just find some way to attach it to the top center of the camera? Like a small Velcro strip or something.
The lens cap remote is a genius idea, and I think that all cameras should try to do it.
