Like how the unified Cylons seem more complex as you get to know them better. I almost look at them as allegories for humans. Many human but just a few human 'personality types'
Lucy Lawless was great in this series.
Thank you again for the inforimitive video.
Watching all four seasons now for first time. On end of season 3 now!
welcome to the family :)
Your SciFi life will never be the same again. I'm obsessed with all of them: from Zoe Graystone to Hera Agathon.
My favorite are the D’anna model 3’s. I also suspect we saw a model 7 in a hallucination by Kara Thrace. I think her father may have been the only surviving “Daniel” copy thus making Starbuck the first true Cylon/Human hybrid.
Thats the beauty of this show; they allow you to choose answers to the unknown for yourself just as we do in real life.
They said Starbuck father was NOT Cylon. She reincarnated soul of Pythia who was Priestess to Apollo Temple.
@@sophiawilson8696 where can I find these informations?
@@emmanuelmorrone716 it all over the net. The writers confirm that Daniel is NOT Cylon.
I have a theory that I will believe until I die. There is a wireless network between all the cylons, which allows them to share their visions, and they are all connected to their resurrection machines. This has happened before, so there are ruins of similar resurrection machines all over the galaxy, not able to resurrect them, but repeating the signal. When a cylon dies and there are no resurrection machines available, they don't dissappear, they stay in the wireless network. That is their afterlife, and that's where the "angels" and visions come from. Their god and the 12 gods are probably entities that live there as well. As for why humans can see them too, they must also have a bit of cylon of themselves. Kara's dad was the prototype of the 7s, was killed by Cavil, but managed to manifest himself, have a life, marry and have a daughter, but since he was a spirit, he eventually vanished. Kara is a hybrid, but not quite as Hera, since her father wasn't quite alive. She is somewhat of a Jesus figure. Kara eventually died, but did the same that her father did and astral projected herself back to the solid plane. She must have gotten info while on the other side, but since she isn't a fully cylon, the data got scrambled and she took the fleet towards the dead earth. Only with the help of Hera and her father manifesting for a moment, she was able to guide them to their new home, from the Cylon Homebase. They needed to go there and deal with Cavil before they got to Earth. That was Daniel's last laugh at him.
The part of the reimagined BSG story about the Final Five Cylons that doesn't work is the non-FTL ship they used to travel to the 12 colonies. They would have to travel at 99.999% of the speed of light in order to sufficiently slow time from their point of view. And that's Assuming they made the trip with no stops for maintenance and gathering of essential materials and fuel. Ronald Moore should have provided a more fleshed out story for the Final Five
Correct BSG has some flaws but remember they had only the last season to connect all the fraking dots an give it a good ending.
There are lot more shows/franchises who did way worse and ended up with a trainwreck for the audience.
In that regard BSG is not perfect but a way above average written show.
Why? They had resurrection tech, so they can be really old and did not have to travel that fast.
@@bartoszbaranowski604the point is, if they travelled slower, they wouldn't have experienced time diletation
That's a fair point, but suck a tiny nitpick I"m willing to forgive it (like "Warp 13" in Star TreK: All Good things). We know, exactly, how far the nearest star is from earth and how long it would take us given FTL technology (Proxima Centauri, 4.2 years). We don't know how far the colonies were from "Cylon earth", nor how long their voyage was, nor how long ago the planet was destroyed. We only have estimates by characters which can be very flawed (i.e. perhaps Anders didn't word the technology right and he did have FTL tech, just not the FTL tech the colonies had. Or something). It could be explained away in a line or so.
#1 hates the humans for how they treated the cylon race.
#1 treats other cylons like humans treated the early models.
#1 has the best monolog in the whole series, too.
I love these deeper dives into this subject. If I were one of the final five I would definitely box all the 1's. His atheistic attitude was nihilistic, and he was personally responsible for what was most of the strife everyone else was forced to be at odds with for most of the entire run of the show. What an asshole.
I mean if you were created to always be in the body of an old man while the other Cylons such as the sixes looked like Helen of Troy, no shit you would be an asshole and constantly frustrated.
I need to watch all of your BSG videos again. There is just so much I missed in the series, watching late at night after 2 jobs. I must've fallen asleep in most of the episodes. I get so much more out of your videos.
Loved the 6 and 8.
I really appreciate all your videos on BSG. Fascinating and very informative. Thank you. 😊
Thanks for the support! ❤
Another great video. I would have to say that objectively the Sharons, the Sixes, and to a lesser degree, the Leobens were the most impactful.
Caprica, and her mercy...
love for life, anyone's, was key to end the civil war
Thanks elaine and nick. Was looking forward to your next bsg video
Each of the models stood out in their own ways as the series went on, and I really like how they were fleshed out. It would have been easy to make them all the same within each model type, but I liked how you start seeing individuals standing out, especially in the 6's. Personally, I loved the 1's; Dean Stockwell really brought that hatred for the limiting design he'd been "inflicted" with by the Five.
If I remember correctly, wasn't this Tricia Helfer's first serious acting gig? I give her serious props for making 6 a nuanced character (especially in different individuals), and to the writers for making her more than just a pretty face.
As a Sci-fi fan, especially of BSG, seeing how I'm watching this video. Not knowing what happened with #7 is right there, in my opinion of not knowing how SGU could have continued.
Oh, and Park Grace is bloody beautiful. :)
I havn't watched anything since the Caprica series };
That is why I LUV this channel!
The nerd cookies theme song activates our program to watch a new video. Like how All along the watch tower activated the Five :p
I absolutely love the show was actually sad when it came to an ending, But in saying that I try to watch the series at least once a year
True dat.
BSG has become my favorite Syfy show. Followed by The Expanse.
All the old Syfy ( not including the original BattleStar ) have been bastardized to the point I no longer care about any of them.
Trek. Star warts. Etc.
1 and 6 are my favourites. 1 as a villain but 6 at first was a villain she freaked me out . Especially in the mini series. ( murdering a bady as an act of kindness in her mind ) they are wonderfully complicated 8 and 3 and 2 as well .but the other two i never really liked.
I'd forgotten about the baby. Oddly enough, I never blamed Baltar for anything "evil" except the destruction of Cloud Nine... far as I am concerned, I'd have both of them thrown out an airlock.
@@Deridus yes cloud nine was the worst thing . Giving that bomb was insane.
4 and 5 are so underdeveloped and boring.
The Cylons who sided with the colonials ended up creating humanity on earth. While the Cylons who chose to be machines went extinct.
" All this has happened before, all this will happen again".
Your videos make my day.
Nerd Cookies the best new YT chan chan ....I want to work for these guys!!!
Yeah, I have to say my favs are the #3's. Don't really have a good reason, they're just the ones I like the most.
I like the #3’s too, it could just be I the episodes the 3’s are in and the situations they are put in are more interesting, not as simple as compared to the rest of the models
Great series wish they had expanded it more
Ha!! I have been watching your Dune videos and had no idea you did BSG and B5, two shows I worked on extensively! Feel free to ask any questions.
That's awesome!!! I'm brushing up on B5 lore. Hoping to get into some more B5 starting next year! That's so exciting, I'll definitely reach out with any questions. I believe I've used some of your models in a video or two. We chatted on ArtStation. 😊
@@NerdCookies OMG, I remember now. Didn't make the connection. There are so many youtube channels. DOH! :)
Great video, as usual!
I have to say, new human like AI in the new cyclones were scary
Dude whoever you are, you need to get some voice acting or narrating jobs. This was awesome!
Please enable subtitles (auto-generated) for older videos :D Otherwise great content!
If the prequel continue it Sharon model was based on foster sister to Adama and Six model was based daughter of Daniel, Zoe.
Fantastic analysis as always... good to know there have been no number 1s here to downvote this just yet. 😅
Thanks
Interesting movie!
I love these videos!!! :-)
You miss Daniel which Calvin poison is his sac?. Or birth chamber.
You didn't mention the 7s(Daniel)
My favorite Cylon is Tigh. Least liked is Ellen. Most ambivilent about Doyle. Caprica is a complicated one.
I wish we see a little of Daniel, there a good side of religion and bad side. I as inividial look more on facts and science than faith or religions.
They were originally eight of them, wish we knew the last one.
I think the “Daniel” model 7 was Kara Thrace’s father.
@@TheHartonGroup Daniel was not Kara’s father. Show runners confirmed it.
Tricia Helfer is amazing, but if I could go back and remove one thing from BSG it would be her scenes with baltar. they always made me cringe.
Unfortunately I have to watch this video with these gelatinous orbs.
... and the Sixes are based on Cassiopeia.
its all about D'anna
Why would the final five and centurions create a skin job which looks like an old man?
Cavil was modelled after Ellen's father
@@achillesrodriguezxx3958 that makes it even worse
@@maxmercer1931 No wonder Cavil had so much rage. The sixes were created beautifully while he always had to be an old man. No shit I'll be enraged as well
I was just saying how gross cavil is.
It's funny that the women of the 7 are all beautiful but none of rhe men really fit much of a beauty standard for men
You skipped the 7 model.
+
Boomer is so hot.
Tricia was even hotter
🔯
❤mm sorry
Cylon’s don’t need to breathe and their haarts don’t beat.
Algorithm
Eight (8) Cylons .
You want to post on UA-cam , get your facts straight.
Skin jobs
Toasters.
@@Ni999 C-wurds
I think the 4:2 ratio is sexist and such a contrast to humans.
Never liked the idea of the human Cylons. If the Cylons hate humans why would they want to be like them? Even to gain advantage in a war.
Literally just reading off the wiki. Lazy
Garbage show. Never could get their stories right. For me the first season was the best.👌
After that forget it the show was just unbearable.
Well you can just go straight to hell then
Mmmmmmm, ...
Tricia Helfer !
