Would you vote this as one of Britain's Best Rides? The final episode in the hunt for the best road routes in Britain sees Cycling Plus head up to the Scottish Highlands, full of wind, fog and stunning views:
Hi Lee. I was wearing a Rapha merino baselayer, Castelli arm and leg warmers, normal jersey and shorts and a Sugoi lightweight rain jacket... It was't really cold, just very, very windy!
I had an 11-25. The first three/four miles was fine with that but it does get steeper towards the top when the hairpins kick in! Could have done with a 30 there for sure!
Belach ??? Lol it's 'be al ach' Iol , but always enjoy watching fellow cyclists climbing up our little hill, (this is my local climb) your brave doing it in that weather, I've turned back many a time for bad weather, (didn't want to be blown off) hope you come back and get a good day, it's rewards are priceless
Rob might be from Surrey, but he's tough as nails. The bit at the top was all acting: as soon as the camera stopped rolling he took off his jacket, unzipped his jersey and descended the summit in a single, uninterrupted manual.
Don't worry most fellow Scots can't pronounce it properly either:-) :-) nice upload and thanks for the apology but truly who really cares you loved our lovely scenery and a great days riding despite or indeed because of the weather. Loving this mini series of UK rides food for thought :-)
What a lost opportunity shooting this segment in OCTOBER! The producer/organiser needs to be sacked! I have been on this route dozens of times and it is mind-glowingly beautiful! Get it right next time, please.
Yeah, we're not going to do the sacking thing, but if you'd like then we'll have our producer write you a personal letter of apology, complete with enclosed severed finger, just to prove that he really means it. Forward us your postal address and preferred finger and we'll get right on it.
BikeRadar Hey guys, of course it's all "tongue in cheek" re "sacking". Your segment was good it is just such a shame that the one day the sun shines in this area wasn't the day your team was filming! Having lived and travelled in the Scottish Highlands for around a decade I know just how difficult it is to get the weather the way you want it. However, if you get that weather WOW! Oh, and by the way, no Producer's finger required. Thanks for your great work.
