      +John Mcafee Unfortunate truth. I don't even understand why they need a software modification if they already have the physical phone in their hands. FBI has no engineers who can remove a few screws and pull the flash memory chips? Or they are afraid to void Apple warranty?

    • @winglover1
      @winglover1 8 років тому +11

      +John Mcafee The Government has put really Apple
      into a no win situation with this debacle. If they unlock the phone, no
      one will trust their phones to be safe and their stock goes down.. If
      they refuse the government bashes them using national security argument
      to justify trying to force a company to break into a phone, and their
      stock goes down. It is my understanding that a warrant has to be
      specific as to what they are looking for, not just a fishing trip into a
      phone that may contain NOTHING...
      Personally, as a computer hardware technician I don't see how it would even be possible to go into a locked encrypted phone and change a program that is already in RAM. It's not like the movie TRON where you just ride a motorcycle around in computer circuits changing things. You might be able to clone the code and look at it, but if it's already encrypted, it won't be clear text that is "readable"!
      Apple should tell the government it CAN"T break into the phone, not that it WON'T ....Apple stock goes UP... Warm fuzzies for everyone except the FBI

      +Neon Albino I know right! If the host would have interrupted Mr Mcafee, I'm sure he might have really said what was on his mind...That the FBI doesn't have a constitutional right to force or compel a free market, public company to give them the keys to proprietary software just because they think it might some day hopefully stop a terrorist action. It's easy for them to play on people fears to voluntarily give up protections afforded under the constitution because the government says they can keep a secret. Sheesh... Just look at the Hillary email scandal! She should be in prison. I worked for the State Department for ten years. Had I done what she did, I would have been fired right before being locked up by the FBI for treason! Foreign intelligence agencies are good at what they do and our government computers are probed millions of times a year. They LOVE arrogant politicians who use unsecured servers!!! +Gregory The only difference between physical and remote is the way it is utilized. If you have something you can plug into the phone physically to run the backdoor code on, you can insert that code into any app on the appstore, any update to the iOS system, literally any software that runs on the phone, and garner the same results. The only difference would be adding a section of it that took all gathered info and sent it back to you.

    djkronokun - there is nothing inside a game console of value. no credit cards, no bank statements, no compromising photos, no lurid emails, no intrigue, nothing that could be used for blackmail or extortion. who in their right mind would want to hack a game console?

    • @DjChronokun
      @DjChronokun 8 років тому +33

      +John Mcafee They frequently do contain or have access to the owners credit card information and access to anything on their home network (photos, etc.) and often have connected cameras sitting in peoples living room. Aside from what's *in* them they'd also have value as part of a botnet but the most obvious reasons for someone to hack them are commercial piracy or just so they can regain control and remove restrictions from their own device.
      These motivations might not be enticing to a state cyber-warfare program but they're certainly still motivating reasons.
      Anyway, my point was that a backdoor only carries the same inherent risk as any other remote services built into the device since it's essentially just treating Apple as the primary user rather than the phones owner.

    McAfee's point was from the perspective of a technician. The more potent argument is the legal one: "We're at war!" the FBI says. So? We still have the Constitution, the Fourth and Fourteenth Amendments to protect against unreasonable searches and seizures. The FBI's job is to ENFORCE and UPHOLD the Constitution, and not just when it's convenient. If we're at war, then Congress can suspend Habeas Corpus, they can suspend certain rights, and they can amend the Constitution, but until then, law enforcement is bound by the laws of the land, which are there to protect us all. Besides, this "We're at war!" trope is a red herring. Objectively, Islamic terrorism is far less of a risk to Americans than regular crime, but the FBI can't animate the public's imagination with a run-of-the-mill white-collar embezzlement case like it can with a colorful shooting or bombing, so they use the spectre of terrorism to get their foot in the door. Once they're in, it's all over. Fight on, Apple. Fight on.

      With WHOM?!
      I've thought The Congress Only has power to declare war against other nation.. but it seems every moron from so called "services" does..(whom they are serving? Frankly not US people.)
      The war he is talking about, was invented by themselves for own purposes.
      There is NO nation waging war against US - Nobody.
      However, there is plenty evidence pointing that rogue US "services" do whatever they like in the name of US people - including waging wars overseas.
      Americans needs to wake up - this is not your country anymore.
      Now they want to wage war Inside US... against you.

    why is there a Q in the background

    • @user-co4xl7wx3q
      @user-co4xl7wx3q 3 роки тому +3

      Not sure, it seems often in mainstream media when certain important people are interviewed, they set up the surrounding area, say a bookshelf, to communicate things to spoOks and others who know how to interpret these comms. A sort of symbolic language exists among the intel community in this way, and this also leaves a lot of grey area for plausible deniability in case any rando should crack the code (JoeM on Twitter / parIer / Gab was adept at this and many instances of this are undeniable, which is why he was looked at as a sort of leader figure during the Q_anon posting days - He busted Comey many times 😉).
      ....So the letter Q here? Well, CNN and all the glow intel community knew *very well* who Q Group were (save this video *[new link]:* ua-cam.com/video/_JiOF68FbDs/v-deo.html ) and it is the same Group of "less than 10" individuals dropping intel and serving as a backchannel to the public during Trump's Admin.
      So when Q revealed to anons that they were *_that_* "Q," and not just some random sh¡tposter, the entire MSM, DC, and intel community flipped out and went into preemptive damage control mode and initiated a huge smear campaign so that the public quickly awakening to the corruption of DC (and the global political arena) wouldn't bother looking at Q posts.
      Massive campaigns of online paid shiIIs went into forums to discredit and ridicule Q's posts as being obtuse indecipherable nonsense and a waste of time, so to discourage the curious and general public from trying to interpret them, despite Q giving instructions on *_how_* to read their drops.
      It was an interesting time, and at the end of it all, many people feel Q led them on and left them high & dry (and the President as well). Others remain hopeful, and others strongly believe "the plan" is still in play.
      MANY times Q showed that they were the real deal, that much can be said.
      I don't know what to make of all of it, and I don't know what to make of these recent happenings. Hopefully something good can come from this.
      All the best and happy hunting.
