I have that same copy of Now in November. I LOVE the Franklin Library books--I have almost all of the Pulitzer editions they put out. I found them mostly through eBay--in great condition and at good prices--but I did find one on Etsy, too!
Nice way to relax watching a Kim video with your lovely sidekick in the background. It is so nice that you both are bonding over classic movies. Sounds delightful. I just pulled my Les Misérables of the shelf and may try to "read along". I enjoyed it as a much younger person so due for a reread! I also gave up a very heavy but beautiful edition of Les Mis that I rescued from being thrown away at my dump. I hope someone will enjoy it. Thanks for sharing your precious collection. They are beautiful additions to your shelves. Good Luck with your new job tomorrow.
When my elderly neighbor moved into her daughter’s home she gifted me 50 Franklin Library editions!! I reread Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights in them last year and although our editions look slightly different the illustrations are the same and wonderful! You’re so right about the font Kim and I just finished The Magic Mountain in the Frankling and it was only 2 lbs something 😉
The Franklin books are lovely. I found a copy of that chunky Les Mis at a library sale last year and it was in great shape. I wanted to buy it, but it's just too big and I've read the book so I have a beautiful abridged copy that I will be happy to read some day.
*Good luck starting your next work adventure. Hope you have a calm and peaceful transition. *Just put Now in November on my Amazon list. *Nice to hear Clara adding in! I’m so glad she loves old movies! I recommend “Love in the Afternoon” with Audrey Hepburn and Gary Cooper. It’s a personal favorite and I think she would like it! *Lovely choices in your new/old collection. *Have a great week!❤
Hi Kim. The Franklin Library books are a real treasure. I read Les Miserables from the Penguin Classics Deluxe edition, and you are right: the book is unwieldy. I had to read at a table because I couldn't hold the book for any length of time. The regular Penguin Classics are much more manageable. Best of luck at your new job this coming week.
I literally first read Wuthering Heights (way back in the 80s) because the Kate Bush song made me curious about it! 😂 The same thing may have happened with Camus' The Stranger and The Cure song Killing an Arab...
I love beautiful editions of all time favorites! But a 4 pounder!😮 yikes😅 I intend to lean towards classics this year…so I’m searching for editions that are pretty 😅 but with good size print! I ordered a uk edition of Grapes of wrath and holy smokes! My eyes!😂 Good luck on your first day!
I've been wanting to read Les Mis but the 2 copies I have are horribly abridged. Keeping my eye open for a good edition. Thank you for your comments on those 2. ❤📚
The Franklin Library books are, indeed, beautiful. I have a couple, but not with all-leather binding. Wishing you the best at your new job. And now, I’m just curious, did you make your gorgeous sweater?😊
Hi Kim! I’m glad to report that I finished Middelmarch yesterday after reading it since March 2023! 😅😂🎉 The last quarter was the best. It was way too long but I admire the knowledge this woman had. The frozen river was a good read for me. It gave me Outlander vibes with this couple being so supportive of each other. I’m about 25% in Les Misérables. Reading it in French but I can see how finding the right translation could be a challenge. Have a great week and good luck with the new job! Bye Claire! 😆
@@julieg_quebec-julesselivre8641 excellent!!! So glad you finished it.🥰 Great feedback on Frozen River. Gives me insight once you mentioned Outlander. 😍🤣
Hi Kim, I’m first yay. I hear you about holding up a book that’s too heavy. And when you get old like me, you might even have a hard time looking down for too long. It’s an old age wonderful.😊. Wishing you positive energy and prayers on your new job. Aloha friend.
I started collecting the Franklin Library books when I started collecting Pulitzer Prize winners. They are beautiful books . I don't read the actual Franklin Library books. Just watch out . Eaton books are similar.
A 4 lb. book! It looks beautiful but that would be uncomfortable to try to read. The Franklin Library books are just gorgeous. Have a good first week at your new job Kim.
@@NeetuSingh-eo4iu great!!! It’s yours. You can either send me a Goodreads message or a Voxer message with your information or you can send an email through my UA-cam page. 🤓
As you were reviewing your Franklin Press books, i realized i had one also... A Tale of Two Cities. It is black leather with gold designs front, back, and spine. It has gold edged papers, ribbon bookmark, and a bumpy spine like yours. It even has the silky endpapers! But it is from Easton Press, not Franklin. I read the publishing info page to see if they were somehow related, nope. The ONLY difference is in the illustrations... not nearly as nice as yours, and the only full page ones are in color (meh).
I always thought those with missing front teeth were hockey players. Now I realize they could be readers who read large books in bed. 😂
