"Pollsters caution against assuming that the polls this cycle are susceptible to the same errors as previous ones that underestimated support for former President Trump, arguing that every election is different and that this year’s polls are an accurate reflection of the competitiveness of the race.
Polls now show Vice President Harris leading Trump by about 4 points, according to the average from The Hill/Decision Desk HQ. But the race in the roughly half dozen battleground states is even closer, and a polling error like the ones in the past could mean Trump is in a stronger position to prevail than the data says.
But polling analysts say it’s not that simple.
“We don’t always see the misses in the same direction,” said Chris Jackson, the senior vice president of public affairs for Ipsos. “I can tell you that the polling industry has done substantial changes to how we do our surveys to try to account for what we think was driving those errors in 2020. So while there undoubtedly will be errors in the future, they’re probably going to be driven by different things and go in different directions.”

It doesn't matter, I am one of the countries experts at election polling and I can tell you for a fact that if the election was held today trump would get destroyed. I can also tell you why. Republican women have been polling for trump, and for anti abortion for three years now and then voting in huge blocks the other way in private when avoiding fear of social retribution. The absolute greatest example was Kansas abortion polling being 21 points wrong. There is zero explanation for that other than a big block of republican women voting stealth to the let. Women in this country absolutely despise trump as they have a better ability to see the liar and scum he is than men do. trump is going to get hammered.

It is 100% impossible that you haven't had a poll call you. If you have a listed unblocked number and answer your phone no matter what the number calling is, you have been called. However, swing states are bombarded with calls, if you live in a heavy area Dem or Rep it's way less likely you get called.

Hopefully the "Trump might get the vote of older people who have been registered for years but would be voting for the first time" story is true. Because in states like Texas Republicans have been clearing the voting rolls. So those people who haven't voted in the last two elections are being cut from the rolls and made to re-register if they wish to vote again, and surprise, Republicans have also eliminated same day voting, so they might potentially show up to vote, find they've been cut from the rolls, and will have no recourse in registering and voting, thank you Republicans.

I wish we talked more, beyond the accuracy of polls, about how poll results *impact* or political reality. You cannot measure something without that measurement having some impact.
