Excuse me for saying this but I'm a 51 year old Black man who likes DD and have been a fan since the early 80s and beyond! I grew up with MTV and watched all their videos , including the spin offs of Duran Duran ! Long live the80s and DD!
Ahhh, well I’m a 53 year old white male who’s been in love with this band since 1982…. and btw, what relevance is our color and gender in loving a band??????
In 1984 I would have the been the red-headed friend of the girl in the fedora. Quietly FREAKING OUT. You can feel the nervous excitement of these fans. Amazing footage.
Yes....yes....yes..... and yes !!!!! Wonderful times the 80´s. We have everything in music. What we do call real genuine creative music. No techno and Gaga. There were plenty of choices for each and every taste on TRUE MUSIC. The 80´s were THE BEST !!!!!! Yes, sir
When you talk to him it's almost like you hang on his every word & he seems generally interested in what you're saying. It's a little bit intimidating.....to me it is anyway.
First impression....Simon: a little annoyed and exasperated; Roger: tired and sort of over it, Andy: just over it; John: too good for this; Nick: ok, I'll just go with it & smiling. Still LOVE them ALL❣️
Just exactly how they were in 1993 and the rest of the times they played in my country -Argentina- ... actually I remember last time they didnt even said hi to fans - all over 40 y o people waiting outside their hotel - ...but to be honest I dont blame them much for that ...
Yeah. At around 0:46. The close up of Simon's face and his expression. By this time they were probably all tired after 5-6 months of touring and just wanted to to go home and rest. Unfortunately for us after their hiatus and side projects we lost Andy and Roger. But years we got them back ( Andy for a little while anyways).
John seemed like he was really engaged in conversation with the fans near him. The rest of them seem pretty exhausted. Simon seemed congenial but pooped.
Greensboro NC 1984... This was my first of MANY Duran Duran concerts. Wish I was at this meet and great. I did get to meet them finally in 2016. These guys are amazing and still put on a great show.
I went to the 1984 Seattle Superdome concert. It was a sea of girls. To this day it was the most exciting concert I've been to. I'm still a Duranie today. Great music from this band.
They came to Seattle? I don't recall hearing about it in Tacoma! That was the year I graduated from high school. Do you remember when they came in 1984?
I saw them at their Cleveland show in '84... drove through a blizzard to get there, was senior in high school, and got in trouble over it but It was worth it! I taught myself to play the bass because of John (loved his style - my hair was like his and I wore a fedora hat, too), and loved singing along with Simon whenever I was in my car. My wife was a huge fan of Nicks. If you want the most in depth look at them possible, read In the Pleasure Groove: Love, Death, and Duran Duran, by John Taylor. Just finished it and it was great! Rock on, DD.
+nymike06 that The thing Andy 's book ( a must read - just for the rant against the music industry st the end) has some fights & arguments with Nick and covers a bit more 'fun' in the early days. With JT still inDD it's not going to be 'warts & all' except a case of crabs.
it's funny how that girl with the hat is using every ounce of will she can summon from going completely bat-shit crazy being just a few feet and seconds away from meeting DD.
Some of it. My mother made me take my little sister to the Pittsburgh, Pa. concert in 1984. I didn't want to go, but my sister had their posters all over her wall, and played their music incessantly, it meant everything to her. So, we went, and I have to say, it was a fantastic concert. It's not that I didn't like their music, because I did, but I was always more into classic rock . I'm glad I went, plus, I love my lil Sis!
Those guys have been class acts since day 1, so kind to their fans, I remember stories of how people would meet them randomly in public, and any of them would take the time to stop and greet them. Duranie '85-present!
Wonderful!! Oh, to have a time machine & relive it all at least once more. Thanks for uploading this, a superb & charismatic band and people, then & now.
AWESOME FOOTAGE !!!! Thanks for uploading! - This is actually March 30, 1984 - Greensboro Coliseum, Greensboro, NC, USA acording to duran tour timeline- and the last USA show was April 17, 1984 - San Diego Sports Arena, San Diego.
And I was at the San Diego show!! 😁😍 I still have my program... I was bat-shit crazy for JT, I went to the show by myself...my mom drove me 90 miles there and 90 miles back. Thanks Mom!! 🥰
@@TigergirlM amazing! I was but 10 years old and was a huge duran fan living in midwest USA wishing I could get that same cool duran hair to impress the ladies haha thats how my mind worked then
Most of the young fans in this video were winners of a contest at WKZL, the radio station I worked for in Winston-Salem, NC. I was asked to be their chaperone. I had been a Durany fan since I bought their first album on import before they were known in the USA. Needless to say, I accepted the chaperone task.
THIS is HEAVEN!!!!!!!!!!!!! Simon looks utterly STUNNNNNING I must say., absolutely beautiful! And the way Nick stands, OMG!!!!!!!!! The fans are SOOOOOO cute!!!! Love the girl with the hat and badges, WOW!!!
ahhh I wanted to see that girl's reaction to meeting them, lol. the one chewing the gum. we saw her anticipation & now I wanna see her reaction with them!!
My sister got me into Duran Duran. She was a teenager at the absolute peak of their fame, so her walls were COVERED floor-to-ceiling in all Duran Duran posters, and that’s all she played on her record player. I was just a toddler, but because of her, I grew up listening to all of their music throughout my childhood and I love them more than her to this day!!!!!!❤❤❤
This was the same time as the Sing Blue Silver documentary (Duran Durans 1984 American tour) was being recorded, if any DD fans are unaware of it I'd definitely recommend checking it out; it's a fantastic snapshot of Duran Duran at their height
Ha Ha, the girl starting at 2:20 is the epitome of the 80s..She looks like she can't decide if she wants to be Madonna, Debbie Gibson or Boy George....but She's gonna have fresh breath when She gets there!
OMG I'm 14 again! I would have given anything to be in that room, I was in love with them especially Simon! Saw them that year back in Chicago and loved them and still do since 1982 ❤️

Not to make comparisons...but what the Beatles were to the 60s...Duran Duran is/was to the 80s. Both were Brit bands that helped define a generation and an era. Proving twice in pop culture history the British beat us Americans at our own musical game. Even though "rock n roll" music was born here in the good ole USA, the British did us one better (at least a couple of times). Of which the likes we will never hear and see again!
Wow I didn’t know this video existed! I was there as chaperone for contest winners at WKZL FM 107 in Winston-Salem, where I was a DJ. (That’s me at 3:36.) I was a long-time Durany fan by then. I had bought their first record on import after reading about them in NME. My friend Julie took photos there, but this is the first time I’ve seen video. Where did this come from?
Interesting. Ric Sanderford worked for WGGT TV48 and then for WLXI TV61, The Video Music Channel. This is raw footage from his resume archive. Brief clips of this were used in promos on WLXI after the event.
Saw them in 1984 in Charlotte North Carolina! The Go Go’s opened up for them, it was The Reflex Tour! At this meet an greet, I didn’t see any of them sigh autographs? Maybe they were tired, but looked like not really interested.. Idk 🤷♀️
Avrei dato un anno di vita x avere una camicia come quella di john con lui dentro magari ke tempi con loro i ricordi più belli della età più bella grazie duran vi amo
@Nessa k... Wrong. John doesn't say that. He makes it a point in the book and in many interviews to say he didn't perform high because he couldn't play very well high. He did say close to the time the band first split, he started to dabble before encores every so often. He says the encores were the end of the show, so he felt he could get away with it as opposed to a whole show.

Good God, Simon is stunning here. He's got such a strong presence. I'm a John Taylor fan but Simon carries the torch on this one.
was just thinking the same thing! he's so tall and striking... best word to describe him.
When you talk to him it's almost like you hang on his every word & he seems generally interested in what you're saying. It's a little bit intimidating.....to me it is anyway.
and he looks at least surprised if not in shock,. maybe angry in a "we need to do this ,? "look on his face. Body language tells all. Great Band!!!!
